zeogold: EY, Macarena!
that made me laugh so hard :D
Has anyone checked whether this works across the entire forum or just in the Chinese subforum? (I ask partly because GOG has been advertising for Japanese-speaking support staff, which indicates that we may be getting another officially supported language that uses Chinese characters.)

The transliteration from Cyrillic is across all forums, and we have had Korean spam posts here where the titles were transliterated in the URLs, I would be very surprised if they decided that Chinese should only be transliterated on the Chinese forum.

But how would it work with the different readings?
While the Kana only have one reading ( maybe excepting the は if you use it as a particle, in that case it's usually written as "wa" in romanji while it's usually read it as "ha") almost every kanji used in japanese has multiple readings.
I like Chinese.
They only come up to your knees...

Quite; and thanks to Unicode's Han unification, some characters and character combinations could be Chinese or Japanese if there are no contextual clues.

Nitpicking: "romaji", not "romanji".

I don't know. I assume they're just using a readily-available software library rather than having to figure out for themselves how to transliterate every glyph. Perhaps the library is intelligent enough to make a passable attempt at using the various kun-readings and on-readings when suitable, perhaps it just uses one. It doesn't really matter much though, as it's not primarily intended for humans to read.

The real question though, is why they're using transliteration at all. URIs in UTF-8 isn't a new concept at this point.

It's a bit off topic, but if someone stated:
"I like the Dutch.
Greedy enough to sell their crutch..."
would that be racism too?

If not, what's the difference?
If so, are you sure it's not just a ludicrous 'prejudice'?

You've been here long enough to know not to pester the troll. :P

His abuse is being monitored so we should just let him dig himself deeper; he doesn't need our help. :D

That would stand up in court as racism and I would say,can you disprove it?

Your honour, as a Dutchman I object to being called a race. We're not a race, we're just greedy.
