borisburke: Star Trek is a hopeful dream > Subjective opinion. (H*tler had a dream. The T*l*ban have a dream.)
You could pick any of the many good examples of dreams, and you chose those? Why not MLK/MLK Jr or similar?

Orkhepaj: star trek is bs, they havent showed us how their civilization work cause they couldnt even think out where people would work without getting paid if they have a choice
Star Trek society(no money needed by the federation, etc) seems to mainly only work as they have replicators to make whatever they need. Without them they seem to quickly return to cruder/more barbaric forms of living(as shown in a few episodes where colonists have to live without replicators).

yep , but even then it doesnt show why would anybody chose the shitty jobs , and there is still private property, there has to be a trade economy or do they get those from the party based on social credit?

Those were chosen for contrast. Opposite extremes, if you like. I'm illustrating the point that one man's dream is another man's nightmare. Arguing about whose dream is 'better' is the same as arguing about whose opinion is better, and achieves nothing but misery. I personally love Star Trek, Roddenberry's optimistic, multicultural vision of the future, and always have. Still fiction though.

It's one of those threads better left un-pulled. There are Trek episodes where they do use currency.

But you didn't seem to be indicating you were trying to show contrast there....and even if you were trying to show contrast, i'd think there are some better (less controversial, etc) examples you could've selected from.

Not, imo, if one is trying to prove ST isn't just a hopeful dream.....if some of the tech/etc that makes such a society as it is is near impossible(if not impossible), then what does that say about the dream of some day having such a society?

Yes, and iirc it's mostly personal trades between federation citizens/officers, or among other alien races.

I'm guessing the worse jobs maybe got more replicator credits/usage to make up for the job's requirements/etc.
Also yes, there is private property(as in personal possessions) showed as owned by several characters in the series.

Wikipedia does not make the rules. It just reports them. Choose any source you like, the rules are clear. 100km everywhere else, 80km in America. (Typical political crap.). However...

FAA have been 'tuning' the definition of astronaut, so Bezos may not qualify after all. My concern is that they might take away Wally Funks astronaut wings. I couldn't give a crap about Bezos.

Yea, ok bruh. Point still stands. Bezos is no astronaut.
