GOG is regionally blocking games because the Publishers force them to do so. In fact there is no law at least for Germany which says a regionlock for Game XY is required! Law was part of my studies and believe me if there would be such a law I would definitely know it!

And if GOG says that it is required by law then they are simply lying to protect the Publisher because there are games with the same content which are still available in the german GOG store.

But it is the law. There are lists of games which are prohibited from being sold. There might be similar games in german GOG store, but not same as in those lists.

I understand the frustration, as government in my land also regularly considers banning quite a lot of games. But there is no reason to bash GOG for that.

And if, assuming you are correct about the law, GOG doesn't abide by what the publishers want then the publisher pulls the game and then NO ONE can get it. So you think that because a game isn't available in Germany, it shouldn't be available anywhere?

As much as I'm sure GOG appreciates your legal advice, GOG and Bethesda both have legal teams to handle things like this. Their conclusion was that it was a better option from a legal standpoint to not sell the games in Germany. You're free to disagree with that decision, but I can't imagine that it's up for debate.

And fortunately that is a belief, and not fact :) I've had this discussion with other Australian and German users, and it appears that the way censorship has been applied here to GOG (to block the purchase of certain titles) is a choice that GOG have made rather than one that is legally enforceable (or would be remotely enforceable).

I'd have to find the appropriate legislative links to prove this but my belief counters your belief :P

Like the OP, I haven't bought a thing from GOG in quite some time and refuse to. The last straw for me was that they regionally price their own games, whilst at the same time spouting BS such as their "fair price packages" and at the same time their newest flagship game is cheaper for me to buy on Steam. The Steam versions of their games contains DRM and that is the publisher's choice. Too much hypocrisy for me to purchase on GOG in good conscience.

No, selling the games elsewhere is totally fine but GOG blames non exisiting german laws for this when in fact only the Publisher is responsible for this.

Law is like a huge maze which leads nowhere. Don't think you know all about law, while in fact even lawyers aren't fully familiar with it.

They can block games in Germany all they want because they will only increase piracy with this but the only thing I have a problem with is that they are blaming laws for this. Laws which do not exists like that and even worse if they would exists they wouldn't even count for GOG.

Also if those laws would exists why is GOG selling games which include Nazi Symbols to german customers? I they are forced by the law to remove such content for german customers why are they still selling the other games? Strange isn't it.

If they would write Publisher XY forced us to block game XY for Germany everything would be fine to me but saying we are forced by the law isn't!

I studied law there is no need to show me some old articles about games if you don't know how the laws in Germany actually work. It's like me telling something about russians and games which include homosexual content... I have no clue about the russian laws regarding this so I don't say anything about it.
