IAmSinistar: Not that I know of, but I'm happy to provide a test case. Any game from the bundle you'd like to try?
Ah, that was not the goal of my question but thanks for the offer, lol.
I already own all the developed-by-Daedalic games, the HOGs are of no particular interest to me and I haven't decided if I'm interested in Journey of a Roach. Plus, I don't... steam.

I'm genuinely interested in getting the full picture of this new HB gifting system. According to Momo's post, the DRM-free version stays in one's account - the question is: is it still downloadable after one gives away the Steam key? And is the gifting option still available after someone downloads the DRM-free version?
If the answer is "yes", then that's a major change.

I cant imagine it being any different from previously - you pay > $1 u get steam keys + drm free download. U sell or trade the steam key u still have access to the drm free download...let me try it...
Gifted away one of the steamkeys. Bundle remains with me and access to the drm free downloads.

Rincewind81: it is a "Daedalic thing" to demand a much higher price from german customers and remove the german language from international available versions.
It's not Daedalic demanding the higher prices and/or Steam and retail exclusivity for German versions but the publishers they stroke a deal with, supposedly out of necessity. I don't like it either and you can blame them for accepting such contracts (even though they will tell you they didn't have a choice back then in order to get the games funded), but they can't do anything about it now even if they wanted to (and personally I believe them that now that they're partners with GOG, they would like to offer the German versions here as well, if it was possible, but they can't back out of their contracts anymore).

As for Germans complaining more than GOG'ers from other nations, are there many games here that were originally in e.g. French or Swedish of which GOG only provides the English translation? Just curious. Maybe the Alone in the Dark series?

So, I downloaded the DRM-free version of The Whispered World, and didn't see any possibility of installing it in German. So I guess German is only available on Steam.

Well I gifted Spoderman "The Dark Eye" and just now went to see if I could download it from my library. It appears to be willing to let me (though I did not actually complete the DL).

Maybe someone with more space can fully test this. OTOH, it could be that this system is so new that they haven't had time to fully implement it. OR, HB is actually understanding my needs (In this case), I bought the bundle for back-ups since I'd gotten most of these games on Steam (pre-GOG) and thought - hey, nice! Back-ups, a new game plus some gifts - SWEET!
Other bundles I'm not going to care so much about having back-ups since I hadn't planned on playing those games anyway. Frankly I am just happy that HB changed their policy about gifting codes that I wasn't going to use.

That's a pity and warrants another "false advertising" - there's no note in the System Requirements to clarify that the German language only applies to the Steam version.

Thanks for the info, it looks to be quite a big change - unless, as you said, we're in a transitional phase.

I've installed the game, and this does seem to be the case. The installer itself has an "_en" suffix. It does not change even when I try to set the country on the download page to Germany, unless they're using some sort of automatic region/language detection there.

On the other hand, Chains of Satinav is multilingual, and can be set to German.

Yes. Another terrible move by HB. They really can't do anything right.

Really? That's good to know, I assumed it would be the Same as TWW. But if it's actually multilanguage, I might actually fork over the 6$.

The DRM-free installer, too? That would be great news, indeed, and in that case I might buy the bundle, even though I already own the English version on GOG. Then again, if they're allowed to do that in the bundle, why can't they update the GOG version with a multilingual installer, too?

Because it is a Daedalic thing... ;)

It was always Daedalic blaming a third party for this decisions. Maybe there were Publisher involved in some games, but Daedalic refused releasing Goodbye Deponia here - and this game is only theirs. Daedalic is the Publisher for Journey of the Roach - where is the GOG version? In my opinion they where only using scapegoats before and do the exact same thing with the games where no third party is involved...

And now they are releasing a german DRM-free version of Chains of Satinav for a small price for Humble Bundle and Deep Silver as Publisher for the german market seems to be perfectly fine with it - but selling it here?

I really like their games, but I don't like their attitude anymore.
This is the same company that refuses to give Indie Gala CD keys for the Edna & Harvey game because they claim it'll bankrupt them.

It the case of IG i can fully understand (IG's BTA price fixing & their stupid happy hour at *discounted prices* for multiple copies *free* flood the market - the market for a given game shrinks) :P

That also applies to normal purchases done through the Indie Gala store, where games are sold individually, not just the Galas themselves. They also seem to have given IG a broken version of the game, and don't want to update it... so...
