I just had a pop up telling me to go buy Frostpunk 2. It was one of those banners or "charms" in the bottom-right of the screen. I'm on Windows 10.

GOG Galaxy does not need to be giving me pop-up advertisements. I don't want that to happen again.

How can I disable this functionality?

This is most likely a Windows notification. Go to System - Notification & Actions and turn off GOG Galaxy notification. And see if this help.

1. Uninstall GOG Galaxy.

There you go, problem solved!

That was already turned off for all apps. It's not the culprit. What else could it be?

Try to disable the GOG Galaxy overlay.

Curious. I have the game on my wishlist and I haven't seen any such notification yet. Anyway, you can try the following:
1. Click the cogwheel in the top left and choose Settings.
2. Click Notifications on the left.
3. To the right of Announcements, select -- twice so that you don't get any such notifications and they don't make a sound. If that's not it, then Wishlist is the only other relevant category there.

This is probably it. I've turned that off and haven't seen one of these pop-ups since.

I don't understand where you're seeing this Cogwheel or Settings page in the GOG app.
I have a left-side menu tree that includes "GoG Galaxy", "GoG Store", "Games", and "Friends".
The entire rest of the app is taken up by scrolling game recommendation- Highlights, New Arrivals, Games For You, etc.
Nowhere do I see any settings or gear icons.

Maybe they changed the app to make it more "user-proof"?

Screw it, I'm just disabling it in Task Manager Startup then.

I can't believe a company that purports to be this gamer-friendly would stoop to hiding the controls to disable their own Windows pop-ups in the app, but here we are.

Seriously, it's in the very top left of the app window, can't miss it, check the attached picture for location
