There is a new Star Wars movie? I don't think so. There are only three movies. Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. There was an additional short movie that ended with Jar Jar Binks appearing, but no one is seeing that.

So let them try to make new movies. I'm not watching something like that. Too bad that they never made more than three movies, but that is just the way it is.

IwubCheeze: *sigh*, yup, looks like we're going to find out how the Star Wars cash cow gets milked dry.

I'm even going to take a guess how. Even with Star Wars being a rich universe (as mentioned in the article) with numerous possibilities with political intrigue, civil war, bounty hunting etc etc, I'll bet you anything they're going to focus on the Jedi. It's going to be all about the jedi and too much Jedi will kill this franchise. Notice how a lot of the later Star Wars games were about the Jedi?

Of all the recent Star Wars games, how many games did they release where you were a bounty hunter? Or a front line soldier? Or a politician? Or a smuggler? Or a snub fighter pilot like the old games? Now how many of the later games were about light sabers and force powers? Nuff said right?

Star Wars is gonna be all about the light sabers and force powers, people are gong to get tired of it and that's gonna kill the franchise.

Anyone want to bet against me?

Niggles: Would you rather too much, or none at all?.
As a star wars fan going back to holy-shit-that-was-a-long-time-ago AD, I can happily say NONE AT ALL.

Sometimes you can have too much of a good thing. Always remember the credo, 'familiarity breeds contempt.'

Errrmmmmmm, did you forget about the prequel trilogy?

nightcraw1er.488: Apparently you can milk a zombie cow as well then: COD, FIFA, Pro Evo, GT, etc.
Well, Activision is still milking COD sure, but Guitar Hero got milked dry. I'm sure they had another series they milked dry but I forgot what it was.

doccarnby: I wouldn't be surprised, but the first of the spin-off movies is Rogue One, which from what they've shown off so far seems awfully low on Jedi. Maybe they'll pull one or two out of their ass and it will be disappointing, but I figure we'll get some decent non-Jedi focused movies inbetween the kick-ass lighsaber shit (I'm actually kinda with you, I really like Dark Forces but I'm not as into Jedi Academy even though it's also pretty good).
I'm more worried about the consumers. When 1313 was in the works, there were a lot of comments along the lines of. "Awesome, another Star Wars game but it would be better if there was Jedi in it". If this happens, well, You can bet Disney will keep it in mind.

Edit: Remember Star Wars: Galaxies? It was set in a time period when the Jedi were all but extinct. But that didn't stop players whining they couldn't play as Jedi. Subscribers then bitches to Lucasarts about the lack of Jedi and threatened to cancel their subscription if the game wasn't going to have them. So Lucasarts added them........and the rest is history. In the end. it was the demands of the community that destroyed Star Wars: Galaxies. The same thing could happen here.

mobutu: I mean, how many iterations of the same crap people are willing to take?
You know, I'm actually hoping we'll get an answer to that in our lifetimes

rampancy: We've seen (in Star Trek) what happens when a franchise is milked so hard it dies, or at the very least, kills its audience with an overabundance of content.
Not sure what you're talking about. At what point do you think it would have been better to stop having more Trek? People still enjoy Trek, and there's new audience, and a new upcoming TV series thanks to the movies.

I certainly wouldn't have a problem with any other series or category being continued indefinitely, as long as there's audience demand.
I STILL need my millions of games based on REPUBLIC COMMANDO series. Need Imperial Commando and so on.

Jedis suck ass. Have had enough of them, show me some love for he frontline soldier or smugglers
I am just thankful that so far Disney is milking Star Wars and not thinking about touching any of the Lucas Arts classics. Luckily, we have all the good Star Wars games here and almost all the adventures, which I am sure will arrive soon. All that is left is to release the original non-"special edition" trilogy on blu-ray and after that they will get no more money from me.

I just hope that they don't touch Monkey Island. Please just leave it alone.

Also the general state of movies is so depressing now. Ex-Machina and The Martian were good, but there hasn't been much else to excite me. I guess when Oscar season comes I will find some more to watch but it isn't looking good.

After drinking all the milk, one may as well fashion one of these:

Yeah. That was this short movie with Jar Jar Binks in it. Some three years old seems to like it. I just leave the cinema and never watch another one of this stupid movies.

The problem with that is that they just exchange the old audience with new audience. It would be nice to have something that the old audience would like to see as well.
Screw all of you! I love it! :P

Now give me my 'King Dork' crown and be done with you! I have a total lack of a life to celebrate! :D

Ahhhhhh!!!!! Now it makes sense

Carry on, just forget I said anything ;)
This is the same Hollywood mentality that wants to keep insisting on a reboot of Fantastic Four.

Well, at least maybe they'll bulldoze more Florida wetlands for the new Star WarsWorld.

I love Florida. It makes it look like our country is pissing on Cuba.
