i recently found a thread regarding trading, and im curious how this works, having not found information in the thread, only rules.

i cannot see any options in my library that would hint on an ability give my game to someone else, so any clarification is appreciated.
You give me 15 games and I repay with 1.
I jest.

You can't trade games that are in your library, only gift codes for GOG, Steam etc. If you buy a game on GOG as a gift, you'll find the gift code for it in the according e-mail and/or under "Orders & Settings" in your account.

Also, GOG doesn't have a trade system, so trading here is entirely based on trust and not really safe. If you're new and noone on the forums knows you, you will be expected to send your codes first. You should be equally cautious, double check a user's identity and only trade with people you are sure you can trust (as explained in the rules of the thread). If you're scammed, it's your own responsibility.

Aah, okay. I was wondering why i havent seen any functions that would appear to make trading possible. its because i havent purchased anything as a gift.

After seeing the trading thread, i was hoping there was a way i could trade my unwanted / useless-to-me games that resulted from hats/stars, for games i'd actually play.

Appears im just stuck with these titles clogging my library. thanks for the information.

And to the poster above: 15-to-1 would be a rate im comfortable with, depending on the 15 and the 1 :-P

Im completely fine taking the bad end of a deal, if it were possible to trade away these games.

on a side and similar note: GOG needs an option for us users to throw away our games. (i am aware of the ability to hide it.... i use that function in a different manner, so it doesnt cut it..... if there was a way to "exclude" items by tag, rather than include by tag, that would eliminate my need for the hide function, thus making it viable for my unwanteds.)

You can try to contact the support and ask to convert the unwanted games/hats to giftable keys if you don't have downloaded them, other people have done it with success.
Do you believe it would be worth it to contact support if i "have" downloaded some of them?

im not certain which i've downloaded and which i havent.... i know that some i have, in order to transfer to my old, low-spec, crappy computer to see if they work. and if they dont (or are unplayably laggy on it) is when i determine them useless.

and since i cannot reliably remember which i've previously downloaded, and which i havent, it might not be worth the hassle, lol.
I think it can depend on each case, if the games are many I think it's worth trying anyway and ask, in the worst case they'll tell you that they can't do anything.

I guess they'll have a way of telling which ones you downloaded, but it sounds a bit awkward to ask them about it. Your choice. Anyway, if there are games you can't get to run on your computers, you may have a legit reason to get your money back. Support will try to help you make them work, and if they don't succeed, you might get a refund.
I've decided i'll finish up sorting my games, then contact support and lump a series of requests into one: "Here's a list of games.... if it's possible to get a gift code for it, i'd like that. if not, i'd like a refund.... if that's also not possible, i'd like them removed from my account because i cannot forsee ever playing them."

Obviously with some more context...... and just for the sake of context, in case those of you in this thread are interested: i have two main laptops i use:

#1 is an asus ROG gl551. i7 4720hq quadcore 2.6, 16gb ram, geforce gtx 960m vid, and crucial bx100 250gb SSD (aftermarket)

and #2: acer aspire one d270. intel atom dualcore 1.8, 3.25gb ram (4gb, mb or processor only supports / lets me use 3.25..... aftermarket, it came with 1gb), intel GMA 3650 integrated graphics, and western digital black edition 7200 rpm 1tb HDD (Aftermarket)

computer #1, capable of modern or near-modern games, is used for that purpose..... computer #2 is the comp i prefer to play on, and it has the classics i grew up with and loved (infinity engine games, original fallout trio, might and magic series, etcetera) ...... im always looking to expand my horizons, so sometimes i buy a game that looks low-graphic enough, or was released early enough..... or it comes out of a star from the winter sale that just passed, or a hat from the recent event.....

Under those circumstances, i attempt to get them on the netbook (comp #2), and if they work, then one day when im bored i may load them up and play them..... if they dont work, they wont get played, since there are way too many nicer / more recent / better options for comp #1
