This seems like a cash grab. They could have just released a patch to upgrade the graphics.
And that's how Sony has been rolling ever since the release of The Last of Us Remastered 10 years ago.
I can barely play HZD on 30 FPS at 720p as it is. Don't remaster it and make me have to buy a new computer because i can't play it at all anymore!

This whole concept of remastering newer games is meh. HFW wasn't as fun, and some didn't like it partly because of the changes to Aloy--reasonable yes, but "ThEy cHaNgEd HeR lOoKs"--whatever. The storyline seemed lame in comparison to "Are You My Mother?" quest of game 1. I didn't personally think it was the way they should have taken the spaceship, but meh.

Compare with Euro Truck Simulator 2 which keeps updating the graphics for free--while not raising the minimum requirements!

Although, if the remaster is being pitched as a separate product, it's possible the original version might be left intact, for those that don't want the upgrade. Even if they de-list the original, it might at least remain unchanged for those who have already bought it.

Well, they need to pay for the giant bonfire of dollar bills that was Concord...
I heard rumors that Days Gone might be getting a remaster. The game still looks beautiful, but whatever. Remastering the Killzone and Resistance series would make more sense.

If Sony were Smart they would remaster Warhawk for PC with 100 player servers. I would literally buy that game on steam just to play the MP again.

No need for a Horizon Zero Dawn remaster, this game is perfect in the current shape.

Sony should focus on a Bloodborne patch so it will finally run with 60 FPS on the PS5 and perhaps they should make a remake on the PS6 for this game! The devs, as far as i can tell, want some real "performance gape", so PS5 is not sufficient and even PS5 Pro is still a bit lacking. This remake is a huge work if done properly but it may pass the 10 million sells, i guess.

Again, simply no need to improve a game that is on PC and even on console with great performance and in a good shape... while some other games are lacking hard.

The comparison Bloodborne vs. Horizon games is lacking because Bloodborne is PS4 only and it still is not treated any good at all with its 30 FPS performance.

Besides, Horizon Forbidden West is technically "supreme" yes, but it is in overall simply the weaker game. They can still offer the game on GoG for even more sells, but who cares... i got in from EGS now.

However, even Horizon Forbidden West was co-released on PS4 and PS5 which unfortunately was hampering its graphic a bit, for example still no RT option. Adding it is not an option because the entire game is not only huge, it has not been designed for it, so it would require huge work... actually a remaster, in order for making it possible.

Sure, if any Horizon would be worth the effort, it is rather the first title, but this will not be free, almost any texture will have to be recreated and "made compatible" with RT.

More game makers should do what some have done, where they give a free (graphical/etc) update to the game while making a separate skins/etc pack for people to toss extra money at the devs.

Implying that a large chunk of the money isn't lining some exec's golden nest egg parachute somewhere ;)

The worst is that people buy it! So they will keep doing this. :(

Why would they buy a game that's shut dow....*looks at multitude of gamers*....oh, yeah.

If I remember correctly there's a Days Gone movie in development (as of 2022). Wouldn't be surprised if Sony is testing the waters (again) for a sequel.

Well maybe this will get us real sequel if true.
Pretty sure in this case remaster just means upgraded for PS5. Probably using the PC high settings and toss it out, or maybe add a quick RT feature. This doesn't take a lot of work and has even been done for free before like Resident Evil 2, 3 and 7. Not really a big deal IMO.
Not that i agree...

In order to use Ray-Tracing, which seems to be the intention, they need to rework all the textures and what else. This is not just a patch this is a remaster in the most demanding way possible. However, i see no gain by anything other because this game is already in a great shape, so the only true improvement would be RT and if this is truly worth it remains uncertain.

Lately there have been to much of a RT hype, and surely benefiting Nvidia... and the PS5 Pro, which is Sonys intention, even more.

Considering AMD vs. Nvidia, AMD simply is one generation behind of RT (basically the 3090 TI is comparable to 7900 XTX in RT). However, i think AMDs RDNA 4 RT cores are probably more of a "generational advancement" and somewhere in between of Lovelace and Blackwell, yet not sure it is on par with Blackwell, without reviews this is just speculation. What AMD truly is lacking is not anymore RT, it is rasterization performance. Nvidia clearly will be way quicker on Blackwell. As well the still weak AI-cores (known as Tensor on Nvidia) which means the frame generation on AMD is weaker. Both things seems to be improved on the PS5 Pro, yet... not sure how close it may get to Nvidia with the next generation.

Anyway, the thing simply is.... Sony is trying to boost this new "improved power" from AMD, while trying to reduce the effects of the RDNA4 weakness... the poor rasterization. Or in other words "lack of efficiency, not allowing for even better rasterization". Sure, the 7900 XTXs rasterization is slightly ahead of the old Nvidia flagship 3090 TI, but the difference is not a game changer (so it does not matter what you use) and in many cases it will become CPU bound, at above 120 FPS (in rare cases even at above 60 already).

https://blog.playstation.com/2024/09/24/horizon-zero-dawn-remastered-is-coming-to-ps5-pc-october-31-2024/
For existing owners of Horizon Zero Dawn (PS4, PC) and/or Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition (PS4, PS5, PC): you can upgrade to the digital version of Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered for $9.99 on both PlayStation 5 console and on PC (via Steam or Epic Game Store)...this includes fans who added the game to their libraries during PlayStation’s Play At Home initiative...
It sounds like GoG buyers aren't considered owners of the game then?
