TheTome56: Straight up, no frills action movies can work well, and can be very entertaining even when they are ridiculously silly (like Crank or Shoot em Up)

However, those movies still require charismatic leading actors for the audience to get behind. Some might argue that action films need charismatic actors EVEN MORE then other genres to help compensate for the craziness going on onscreen.

The film style is novel, but I worry that by taking away the leading character and placing the audience in their place, they might lose that necessary role, thus leading to a decrease in quality that the first person aspect can't replace.

I think this type of first person film style would work much better in a mystery or thriller movie then an action one, but we will see.
You're telling me I don't have charisma?

Tarm: Strange Days is a good movie. I found it much better than I thought.

Edit: Wait I remember Brainstorm too. Only that I found it interesting though. I probably saw it a long time ago.

Accatone: Both are good movies. If you remember Brainstorm, you should watch it again. It is directed by Douglas Trumbull, who has worked on such classics like 2001 and Blade Runner (he worked on their visual effects). He was also the visual effects consultant on Malick's Tree of Life.
Yeah I got curious about it now since I remember so little so it's a good idea to watch it again. :)

TL;DR

Yeah, it looks like it might shake too much and give people with fov problems/whatever headaches/puke.

cool.

Well I wont be seeing it in the Cinema. At least not without a raincoat. ;)
It might be a fun movie. The FP POV seems better than the Shaking Camera POV of films like The Blair Witch Project and its descendants. And even that genre has hidden gems, like the Spanish REC for example.

I will not pay to see it in cinema though, I'll wait for it to appear on Netflix or Itune.

...I know what you mean here, but the logic of this phrasing makes my brain cry. =P

tinyE: The question is, what aren't they showing us in the trailer?
avatar
omega64: The bigger question is will there be any sex scenes?
If it's called Hardcore Henry, it would almost have to. =)

I don't mix with logic.

Tarm: I don't mix with logic.
Nor do I -- that would be absurd! Mixing with something like a whisk would be much easier and more effective.

tomimt: ...The best attempt was some noir detective story in which the main character is seen only from reflections and so on. I don't recall it's name though.
There was an episode of Tales from the Crypt, where the reveal, when the POV looked in a mirror, was that the main character was Humphrey Bogart? Here it is on youtube.

But, but, but... I use logic to mix everything up... in illogical ways. I mean, logic is the thing you use to drive in screws, right?

tinyE: I've been wanting to talk about this for a few weeks now, thank you for starting a thread.

My biggest concern at this point is, after 30 minutes, isn't the POV going to get a little annoying if not nauseating? :P
The missus saw the trailer and complained about making her nauseous.

I take it now that the movie is too awesome for her to handle.

I have suggested a diet of bacon/whiskey/Rambo to toughen her up.

Make that 5 minutes.

Yeah it's hard to get the dryness palatable.

It might, certainly looks somewhat tiring in this particular movie, but maybe we should ask the people who saw FPS (2014) or the remake of Maniac (2013) about that.

I tried that a couple times, but those damn screws are immune to any kind of reason! So, in the end I had to use a hammer.

[tastes joke] Hmm, this level of dryness seems just about right.

Bad, bad, bad. Although I am totally going to see it.
