Cadaver747: Chapter 2 is definitely more fun with a bit of extra options. I didn't know about spider uselfusness, the door leading to floor opening always shuts after 1 turn even with spider in my pocket (should I use the spider in some specific way maybe?). And time limit is a persistent thing in next chapter in University where you have to pick exact class session at the right moment or skip a class and inspect other areas. Don't know about time limit in later chapters. As for the runaway from the beginning room, I prefer jumping out of the window right into cow manure, maybe because window don't close every so often (opening both ways out and getting all possible items within a time limit is not a problem). At the moment I stopped playing Spellcasting because I can't find the proper way to read all the text without fast scrolling, I find a way to slow ending text scrolling but another problem with missing text lines still exists.
So how about you take a turn?
I didn't know you could jump out of the window, how do you do that? I tried all of them and it always told me I can't, so in the end I just used the hole after finding out how (maybe I used a guide as well, since it kept closing).

Have you tried using a different Dosbox version? I only did the beginning, so I haven't encountered any scrolling problems yet, but I don't recall hearing about it before. Or try contacting the support if you have the GOG version.

Sure! I just got enrolled into this school, I don't know why the mysterious man picked me or who he is, but so far it seems awesome! After an interesting class I have the day to myself to practice my skills or go exploring the school full of secrets, like its dungeons, and then we have free! you hear that right, free dinner! What a great perk, it's better than being out on the streets! And my classmates are usually fun to chat with, sometimes we play games in the recreation room after dinner, like darts or the billiard.

Funny how I didn't know about potty chamber escape route during my first playthrough. You need to take a pile of hay, open both windows (look through them for details), throw hay into one of them in order to motivate a horse with a wagon to move right beneath your place and jump out through another window. Premature death is a possibility if wrong window is chosen.
No, I'm afraid of SVN DOSBox builds, some of them tried to infect my PC for some reason and the only major issue I had with original DOSBox is floppy disks swaping (workaround available). I doubt that any other DOSBox versions or SVN builds could handle Spellcasting 101 better in regards of text scrolling or several lines scraping/omitting from viewer screen. There are only 2 threads on GOG for Spellcasting dedicated forum, one of which is about text scrolling. Contacting GOG support to cure this particular game issue seems pointless, it's the way DOSBox handles the game. We could only hope that DOSBox 0.75 version will work better. I also searched through ScummVM forums and find out that the game has quite a few things hard coded in a peculiar way and that all works for emulation were eventually dropped.

Oh. Well, I'm using 0.74 and the beginning was fine. It's a pity, however maybe they could take a look at it and perhaps fix it.

Ha, that's good! Now I see that the guide I used on gamefaqs is just a hint guide, I wonder if there a way how to get clothes if you didn't take the spider with you?

And try guessing the game, I'll post more hints or answers if you have questions! :)

First missing text lines take place right after you escape from a house, during a conversations between your stepfather and Lola. Can be avoided if different view screen modes used (F4). After chapter ends the ending text scrolls too fast to read, it also can be avoided via few adjustments in DOSBox .cfg file.
As for the clothes it can be easily taken from a barn after you get a key from under a flat rock.
You absolutely have to tell me what DID you do with a spider! I will not sleep well today, I must know its full potential as a viable friend/inv. item.

Well. I don't know the game that's for certain. So here are my questions. Are you an orphan kid living on the street all by yourself? Where are your parents? Did you leave with adoptive parents for some time? This complete stranger, is it an old professor-like type of a person with magic potential? Your school have dungeons, are they safe and open for free exploration? Lastly is this game based on a movie?

Haha, oh well, remember the neighbour you're trying to avoid? From the description it was immediately obvious that you need to use the spider to scare the neighbour to go away (and distract them), so you can go and get those clothes. You need to place the spider on the neighbour instead of pushing them. I have no idea if you can use the spider later in the game though.

However in the picture mode menu F5 I had no issue with scrolling text, I just replayed the first chapter (ie. leaving the town), and I had no issues at all reading any of the text because each time the text ended, it prompted me to press a button before scrolling to the next section. Maybe it's just an issue with the GOG version? My Dosbox (not GOG installed) has no issues with it, I could perfectly well read the Lola and stepfather conversation since the text always filled the screen, then said press a button to continue, and after pressing something it moved to the next bit.

But! I just read through the manual, and supposedly there is the "script" command which lets you copy the whole text and outputs it somewhere else (ie. a notepad I'm guessing?). Try it, maybe it'll work for you.

Now back to the game: It's not based on a movie and yes, you can explore the dungeons, however they're not safe and you need to find them first. Danger lurks within, as it does within other areas of the castle (the school takes place in a castle), like the Wine Cellar. The game makes it seem that you live on the streets, but you soon find out you have a mother, and she's happy that you joined the school - but the mystery is, who told her about it, since you had just joined at a behest of a mysterious, one-eyed stranger?

Another hint: although you start out as a rogueish fellow who likes to sneak around and pick locks, and charm people with his wit and smarts, you can choose an elective class focusing on first aid, magic or science! And in the second semester pick another elective, or pick an advanced course of the one you've already had! :)
Another hint: You can romance several characters, both male and female, one of them is a pirate, one is a gypsy, and you can even flirt with the school's receptionist.
Does anyone want to join in? All you have to do is to read the hints above and try to guess the game! :)

Another one: the castle is full of beautiful painting and statues, one of them is of a leviathan, a serpent beast, who was befriended by a young girl after she fed it. Another is of the school's headmaster, the Famous Explorer! It has the whole safari outfit too!

And I searched for days for all school related games, too bad I was away and busy. But it's good that we have a new winner!
Sorry for a bit late reply. Here's the new one:

And I throw almost from the center and score. I won! I will be given what has been promised!

Who would have said basketball is so much fun. And they didn't even invent the other four players yet. Now time to go whack some dino heads!

ZFR: Prehistorik?
It isn't, but it's the right era.

The era when cavemen hit dinosaurs with clubs?

(or do you mean early DOS era?)

What's the point-of-view in this game? Side scrolling? First person? Isometric?
