bluethief: Real time combat is what I like in these type of games. I have GreedFall II in my wishlist but I might remove it enterely and never get because of the combat, unfortunately.
Ixamyakxim: What a bummer is this confirmed? I actually played Greedfall because I LOVED their style of combat system. I felt like Greedfall was actually a *slight* step backwards from The Technomancer - a game I absolutely loved, in both use of skills in exploration and quest solving AND combat... but I still did enjoy Greedfall.
Need to finish it up - the world was very unique and cool. I like the way gear upgrades are handled and my favorite part of combat in Technomancer was the ease and utility of flicking back and forth between different styles of combat based on situation and enemy type.
So color me let down if Greedfall II is abandoning this :(
I agree with you that Greedfall felt a bit like a step backwards from Technomancer. Technomancer is still my favorite game from Spiders to date (still hoping for a sequel...). But, just like you, I also enjoyed Greedfall (still haven't played the DLC, though).
And while I like Action RPGs in general, I for one still am looking forward to the change from that action-oriented gameplay to a more tactical approach - at least if it really plays like Dragon Age: Origins, because I really want another game like that (and none of the other DA games felt and truly played like DA:O, imho).
What's most important to me, usually, are the story and the characters, however. As long as those two are done well, I can probably "deal" with any kind of gameplay mechanic. But yeah, I understand everyone has their own preferences/priorities. Me, I'll definitely get Greedfall II as soon as it releases in Early Access, because I liked the world the first game built and am eager to get back there.
