But the reality is if you want to do business in China then you can't afford to offend the Chinese government. They are a ruthless autoritarian government, they tolerate no dissent and they will punish anyone for the slightest offence. They don't care if their people miss out on something, the Communist Party is in complete control here. I know, I've lived here as an expat for eight years.

Gaming was fine without China PR money for decades. So no reason why can't they be now.

Since the claim is that "gamers asked", then I firmly believe that everyone that does want the game to be here should start a new thread, so we can clearly see how many threads are against vs. how many are in favor.

Number of posts inside the threads is meaningless. Individual threads started by different people will show the reality quite clearly.

And if they lock it, it's still there.

If they delete it, start another.

Cyberpunk 2077 has cosmetic content built in to the game that acts as a reward for players who are using Galaxy. My understanding is this is not a seperate downloadable DLC, but single-player content that is part of the base game, which is only accessible after the player has completed online verification via Galaxy (it is not available to non-Galaxy users). Therefore, it is by definition DRM. Some people are trying to excuse it, because it is supposedly minor cosmetic content; however, it sets a terrible precedent and is still a violation of GOG's '100% DRM-free' promise. 99.9% is not 100%.

Then GOG (and any other business that is based in a country that values democracy and freedom of speech should not be doing business in China, if it involves submitting to censorship and other ethically questionable behavior. And Western consumers should reject and boycott those companies that do. Why are you living there anyway, if they are such an oppressive regime?

Ok, Mr Purity, turn your computer off now and never turn it on again. Of course that means that you can never play a PC game again, but that's your standard. Microsoft does a lot of business in China and llike every company that does business here they obey the orders of the government. So follow your standard. Turn off your computer and never turn it on again. You want to boycott companies that do business in China. Then you can't use Windows. No more PC games for you.
