Time4Tea: We should never, ever bow to censorship or blackmail from a totalitarian dictatorship. Screw censorship. Screw the CCP. Screw Xinnie the Pooh. And, of course, screw DRM and any game that contains DRM (including Cyberpunk).
That's easy for you to say when it's not your money at stake. I hate censorship more than anyone. But the reality is if you want to do business in China then you can't afford to offend the Chinese government. They are a ruthless autoritarian government, they tolerate no dissent and they will punish anyone for the slightest offence. They don't care if their people miss out on something, the Communist Party is in complete control here. I know, I've lived here as an expat for eight years.

Or you could not do business with China. I guarantee this is why nudity was recently patched out of Cyberpunk. Gibbs will probably be patched out next and they'll use the excuse that it's to improve performance.

alexandros050: Did you seriously have to open a new thread? there are like 10+ threads about this topic....We had enough of cyberpunk threads this last week we don't need more...
EDIT: this does not only go to you but to the other people as well..
yes, he did have to open a new thread.

Since the claim is that "gamers asked", then I firmly believe that everyone that does want the game to be here should start a new thread, so we can clearly see how many threads are against vs. how many are in favor.

Number of posts inside the threads is meaningless. Individual threads started by different people will show the reality quite clearly.

And if they lock it, it's still there.

If they delete it, start another.

If they ban you, that means they chose a side. And it's not the customers. Let them live off China's money, then.

FallenHeroX1: Much respect to anyone pulling out their support of this human rights and censorship complicit company. By all means, if you have a story to tell or want to signal boost your choice to leave, make new threads letting GOG know you don't support their spineless behavior. Anyone who has a problem with that, quite frankly can go fuck themselves. All it takes for evil to win, is good people to do nothing. And if you think it doesn't affect you, it will someday. When you don't speak for others when they lose their rights, who will speak for you when you are losing yours.
I have been on GOG for a long time now. Feel somewhat disillusioned atm with how things are going.

Out of interest, where do you think this Chinese money is coming from?

The Chinese government sending CDPR a huge cheque
or
Millions of average Joe Chinese gamers who risk loosing their games if their government block CDPR

Out of interest, what do YOU think your stance will achieve?

Are you being kind, understanding & tolerant on behalf of Chinese gamers? Are you willing to bend over so that someone you never even met will *hypothetically* be able to play some game you *assume* they are interested in?

I'm sorry, I'm not as good a person as you think you are.

It's way past time China was boycotted, while it's still possible (it will only get worse if we keep kneeling down in front of them), and throw off the shackles of their money.

None of it is coming for you or me, anyway. It all goes to the pockets of politicians who are selling their own countries, and soulless corporations like GOG.

You're not helpi9ng. Neither am I, but at least I'm not convinced otherwise.

djoxyk: can someone clarify DRM thing with CP 2077? I know game had Denuvo when they released it for reviewers. What's the status now? Can anyone confirm it is DRM free? or maybe it still has Denuvo?
Cyberpunk 2077 has cosmetic content built in to the game that acts as a reward for players who are using Galaxy. My understanding is this is not a seperate downloadable DLC, but single-player content that is part of the base game, which is only accessible after the player has completed online verification via Galaxy (it is not available to non-Galaxy users). Therefore, it is by definition DRM. Some people are trying to excuse it, because it is supposedly minor cosmetic content; however, it sets a terrible precedent and is still a violation of GOG's '100% DRM-free' promise. 99.9% is not 100%.

Then GOG (and any other business that is based in a country that values democracy and freedom of speech should not be doing business in China, if it involves submitting to censorship and other ethically questionable behavior. And Western consumers should reject and boycott those companies that do. Why are you living there anyway, if they are such an oppressive regime?

Ok, Mr Purity, turn your computer off now and never turn it on again. Of course that means that you can never play a PC game again, but that's your standard. Microsoft does a lot of business in China and llike every company that does business here they obey the orders of the government. So follow your standard. Turn off your computer and never turn it on again. You want to boycott companies that do business in China. Then you can't use Windows. No more PC games for you.
