JudasIscariot: I have been using Linux Mint for a while now and it's the most user-friendly distro there is, imho. Heck, even the Windows key opens up the Start menu like it would in Windows :)
PookaMustard: So Linux Mint it is. I'll give it a more in-depth look later, thanks!
By the way, @Judas, is it a Start
menu in Mint? Hmm. But since Linux as I hear is like customizable, I think I would run into something alike Start
screen. Well, thanks though!
I've been using Linux for more than a decade (starting with Debian 2.2). My current installations are openSUSE and Mint.
I think Mint is a great choice for new users and for everyday use.
Just keep in mind that there isn't an absolute best for all users. So don't be disappointed if it doesn't suit you.
Different distributions have different focus.
Additionally the hardware compatibility is not the same among all distributions.
Indeed Linux is customizable. Experienced users may tune a distribution to their needs, but for new users it's easier that things work from the beginning.
Finally a notice. On a Mint installation firewall will be disabled by default.
