PookaMustard: So, what's a good Linux distro? No, not Ubuntu please. Name the best Linux distro that is available. I only ask because people here just mention "Linux". Sure, you recommend me to eat fruits, but do you eat apples? Oranges? Mangoes? Same here. Is it Linux Mint? Perseus?

Thanks in advance.
It really depends on what you are looking for in a distro. There's no "best" distro, only one that fits your personal needs as what works for one person might alienate another :)

You're right. I should make my personal needs a bit clear here. Basically, I want the easiest transition from Windows. In other words, that said Linux distro is as user-friendly as Windows is. Oh, while I'm at it, this could be optional, but a Linux edition of Start Screen would be nice.

I have been using Linux Mint for a while now and it's the most user-friendly distro there is, imho. Heck, even the Windows key opens up the Start menu like it would in Windows :)

Then you'll definitely want to take a look at Linux Mint. It's not that difficult to adjust to - when I started using it I had no prior Linux experience & I found the learning curve was about as difficult as when I switched from WinXP to Win7.

I mean, the chance of you being taken seriously is not very high in this thread.
Empathy is not your greatest attribute is it?

You mean you haven't scrubbed the logo off the key and hand-written Super on it yet? :)

So Linux Mint it is. I'll give it a more in-depth look later, thanks!
By the way, @Judas, is it a Start menu in Mint? Hmm. But since Linux as I hear is like customizable, I think I would run into something alike Start screen. Well, thanks though!

Johnathanamz: Calling the majority of the PC gamers Operating System (OS) Microshit?

What the hell.

There's a reason Linux is not installed 1.3 billion+ PC's.

Not all PC gamers care about command lines, terminals and all that stuff

On Steam 25 million PC gamers have Windows 10 installed and so far Windows 10 has been installed on 110 million PC's.
Well your Steam is introducing Steam OS, a Linux base OS system.

Any reason for that? It seems the largest PC platform market voted no to Win10.

I've been using Linux for more than a decade (starting with Debian 2.2). My current installations are openSUSE and Mint.

I think Mint is a great choice for new users and for everyday use.
Just keep in mind that there isn't an absolute best for all users. So don't be disappointed if it doesn't suit you.

Different distributions have different focus.
Additionally the hardware compatibility is not the same among all distributions.

Indeed Linux is customizable. Experienced users may tune a distribution to their needs, but for new users it's easier that things work from the beginning.

Finally a notice. On a Mint installation firewall will be disabled by default.

JudasIscariot:
Talking about GOG and Linux, I just reinstalled Hammerwatch and it's still the old version, without the desert campaign.

Is there any chance that GOG will get the latest Linux build?

Ubuntu itself perhaps not, but there are more derivates:

elementaryOS
Linux Mint
Trisquel GNU/Linux
ChaletOS

What do you want? :-)

@topic: And YES please more Linux, GOG. Or perhaps just Linux for the existing games here: Metro-Series? Dungeons 2? Where are the versions? There are native ones, but they are missing until today. :(

Not to forget: Torchlight! :-)
