but Cat is super high effort and reads pretty pure, are you a new player? Hi, I'm yog, I'm a potato

supplementscene: I'm claiming early because I don't think the role is that important to town and we can also discuss who to protect if I don't get lynched.
avatar
Atlo: Do you realize that for Town Cop, or other Power Roles to reveal themselves is a bad idea?
Also, would you please help me remember, seeing as how you made contradictory claims, -- what is your current take on the Mason reveal?
I'm still unsure tbh, there seems to be mixed opinion. Cat and Dedo said revealing is sub optiomal and Lift and Telika (and I think yourself) considered it pro optimal. I intially considered it pro-town but then I thought holding back the claim makes sense for a few reasons. I iniatially thought not losing other key power roles on night kills was an issue, which Cat and Dedo argued for. I'm divided on this after further arguments. But more importantly I think revealing Mason status near end game is a very strong tactic for town, rather that than unravelling it early, losing the Mason and not having much to show for it

But let us ask why we don't have a revealed Mason? Either the Mason is lurky, or he does no consider revealing at this time the best strategy

Also yes, losing power roles hurts town. But it's better I claim now than risk a no lynch in 36 hours time. And we lose my power role if I get lynched anyway

But can you run Crysis?
I also don't know Atlo, but he seems super pure, I'd be astonished if this is mafia

Hi Atlo, my name is yog, I am a potato

but I can't run Crysis, because that was a sweet potato

AND BITCH, I AIN'T SWEET

I see. Thank you for your answer.

Thank you. This is something that no one seemed to bother mention... with yogsloth substituting/replacing csanjuros role, the entire class is present and accounted for. The mason chose not to reveal themself.

Speaking of yogsloth...

HI YOGSLOTH!!!
Welcome! Thank you for jumping in. I'll call you bittersweet.

supplementscene: Right so my wagon is leading and as it stands I am getting lynched or we get no lynch. I'm Town Bodyguard, which is partly why I wanted to know who the Cop was,
avatar
Atlo: What's the other part?
Dangit!!!
Forgot to add this in previos post.
Partly means there were more than 1 reason -- what were the others?
i'm just kiddin

i'm really sweet
I can't read dedo

It's all words and stuff

And there's a lot of them

I don't trust him, but I don't scum read him either

fun fact: For years and years, in my head, I've pronounced his name Ded-OP-or-no just to be obnoxious

Telika: Oh hello. Say, about post 386...
Do you want to know what this game reminds me of? I'm going to tell you anyway:

So back in 2014 when I was watching ice skating at the winter olympics (Sochi), Evgeni Plushenko injures himself on a practice jump so pulls out. The US commentators kept saying how it deflated the mood such that nobody is skating to win.

That's this game on Day 2.

It feels like I'm surrounded by either ton of mafia or a bunch of townies that don't want to win, and it's a bit deflating.

Csan really is the most valuable player for Day 2. If not for him disappearing on us and causing an extension, we'd have a no lynch for Day 2, while mafia gets another kill on NIght 2, then day three starts with a total of three dead townies and the mafia team intact.

Withdrawing my vote may seem drastic, but I'm hoping it is the wake-up call that people clearly need to realize how dire the Day 2 situation really is and that we're still potentially looking at a no lynch. I'll resubmit my vote tomorrow.
If you haven't read #216, didn't pay too much attention to it or simply forgot about it - please take another look and tell me - am I giving bucktooth credit where it isn't due?

Yeah, that, uh, kinda, super doesn't answer my (post 386) question at all. (Right know what I feel like is trying to run a marathon with slippers on a skating rink.)

So, to reiterate. You were saying that, in your opinion, either me or Lifth are scum. But I didn't get why you would have suspected Lifth to be scum provided you considered me town. Could you clarify this ?

Hello, Yog! It's nice to meet you! I'm at the newer end when it comes to playing on GOG Forums. However about ten years ago, I co-moderated a ton of games on another site. Are you sure you are a potato and not an outer god?

supplementscene: Right so my wagon is leading and as it stands I am getting lynched or we get no lynch. I'm Town Bodyguard, which is partly why I wanted to know who the Cop was, as ofcourse I have the power to stop him being lynched. If I do get lynched and I flip Town Bodyguard occurs I would request my number 1 scum scent of Liftrasil gets lynched on Day 3. I'm claiming early because I don't think the role is that important to town and we can also discuss who to protect if I don't get lynched. I think the absent csanjuro is probably the remaining Mason
You've been spending most of Day 2 looking for a Mason and then a Cop or anything else except the Mafia. You do not get to be mad if anyone looks at that and thinks that you seem more interested in hunting down power roles to viciously murder in their sleep than hunting for mafia.

If you were looking for anyone with a Sailor role, I'd be suggesting that you are cofusing forum mafia with Shenmue.... That's where we're at.

Telika: Cat, I have a question.

I'm doing a re-read focused on your posts. And there's one thing I didn't understand. You seem(ed) convinced that either me or Lifth are scum. I can understand half of this conviction (I strongly "attacked" Lifth's help post, so if I am scum, I'm more likely to target a townie than to be playing a distancing game) and I kinda understand your bias (I dared scrutinize even a help post for scum slips, that's blasphematory like stopping a Red Cross truck in a war zone, instantly makes me the bad guy), but were you implying that if I'm town, Lifth is scum ? I didn't get your background for this assumption.
I said that if I had to pick between Lift and yourself on Day 1 that I was more confident about Lift being Town at that time than yourself. Familiarity biases are more in effect with me on Day 1. It's when we have the least amount of information on each other and are essentially just fumbling about.

Saying that, I am over simplifying things......

With newbie help posts specifically, I treat them as separate entities from the game itself. A new player asking questions needs to be able to trust whatever answer they get and for that reason, we should be given honest answers only. I therefore don't want these types of posts to be challenged or heavily scrutinized unless the person specifically notices something wrong about the post. I do not want the new player receiving help to feel like they cannot trust any of us with their questions. I really do believe that Lift is the sort of person who would give the same answer with no regards to his alignment (town or mafia.)

Essentially these types of posts are the Red Cross truck you reference where scrutinizing them does come off as a bit blasphemous (to use your own words) because it comes off to me as suggesting that there's something wrong the advise being given. I'm not saying that you should absolutely never scrutinize them, but I wouldn't be posting about it unless you specifically see something wrong that attention should be drawn to.

I hope this makes sense.

However if we're going to talk about biases, cat biases really do rank the highest with me. Stick a cat in your avatar if you want to ensure I'm disinclined to lynch you.

------

Side comment for Telika specifically - I do apologize for the delay and making you wait. As we get to know each other more, you're going to find with me that it's not unusual for me to give the appearance of ignoring something then replying to it later.

Unfortunately, there are four special needs cats in this house that can be very demanding of my attention, will always be prioritized and cause me to go AFK for extended periods of time such that I ended up splitting up comments into multiple replies:
- Duke Ellington: black & white tuxedo (short hair), has diabetes & no teeth
- Ripley: black & white tuxedo (long hair), has Pandora syndrome
- Ginger: bicolor female, has kidney failure
- Romeo: orange tabby, MegaChonk on a diet

my name is anime catte: The later it is made, the less value it has

JoeSapphire: why's that? because town know to trust them and can be more focused? or something else i'm not thinking of?
Mainly because what small advantage they give starts earlier and has the potential to last longer. Leave it too late to claim and it just becomes a liability.
