my name is anime catte: The bold part is not true and you even acknowledge it later in the post. An Innocent Child gives the town a numerical advantage as they reduce the possible scum pool without increasing the scum voting power.
They will always have that. The claim can be made at any point. I have never said it shouldn't be made at any point but to be delayed to when it's needed and it makes sense to make. By "value" I mean knowing the knowledge about a particular individual being Town therefore taking their input at face value. Knowing someone is Town doesn't automatically mean they are correct, have good reads, etc. It mostly servers as a distraction remover and/or one less person to worry about. Alternatively, if they stay hidden a case/wagon can be formed against them that can be shut down with the claim and that push can be taken into account later on. The claim is still made, just not "for free". The affiliation is granted but it's not the only value the role has potential to provide.
Pondering over this is useless. It's the Mason(s) call whether a claim right now is good or not, possibly after taking other people's input into account. Trying to figure out who a Mason who hasn't claimed on their own won't bring anything good.
supplementscene: There's a good argument for lynching all innactive players solely down to effort levels.
If we need to rely on such tactics we may as well call the game off and take a rain-check. Catventurer: So I'm removing Telika, Lift and Catte from Scene's "no Mason here" group and put them all back into the potential Mason group.
Well done :) @Atlo, how is that post coming along?
