As to our PMs and role claims...
Look, I just don't want to win that way. We are winning right now through logical deduction without resorting to such cheese. I'd prefer we keep it that way.
Hello everyone, just a quick update for everybody so y'all are in the know: I am in the middle of packing because I am moving states next Tuesday (so right as this game day ends), thus I will be available a little bit more haphazardly than usual for the remainder of this week. I shall return later today with thoughts.
avatar
JoeSapphire: I still think this is a dangerous discussion to enter.
avatar
my name is catte: There is no discussion, just a prompt to get townies to think. The only real answers to the question are yes and no and the question itself was more or less rhetorical.
right yes it was a more or less rhetorical question that you encouraging people to ask by all means. Good And Cool.

avatar
JoeSapphire: [...] Great work HypersomniacLive for catching Bucktooth. The pelt can only be yours I think. [...]
avatar
HypersomniacLive: Nope, you're not allowed out of the PoE.
avatar
JoeSapphire: I'd been thinking RW's vote on bucktooth didn't necessarily look good but hadn't thought about bucktooth's vote on RW, which maybe does look good for RW considering the timing.
avatar
RWarehall: Oh c'mon now Joe...you can do better than that...
why am I getting all the sass?

---

avatar
JoeSapphire: [...] I'd been thinking RW's vote on bucktooth didn't necessarily look good [...]
avatar
HypersomniacLive: Talk to me about this.
just that RW was voting to self-preserve. He was heaviest wagon and I'd just made a super compelling demand for blood. Scum!RW could sit where he was with two scums being the heaviest and best supported wagons, or he could start damage control.

But, looking at it again this does not look very likely. I'm pretty much ready to dismiss this theory entirely.
avatar
JoeSapphire: right yes it was a more or less rhetorical question that you encouraging people to ask by all means. Good And Cool.
When I asked it it was rhetorical. My encouragement was more just a send up of your request that people not answer the question that you imagined I asked.
EBWOP: "encourage people to ANSWER by all means." Messing up language while being super bitchy sarcastic is not a good look for me friends. Kinda hate myself right now.

avatar
JoeSapphire: [...] they might be tempted to just pretend to be busy and hope the wagon doesn't finish, and that people lose interest in bucktooth toMorrow. [...]
avatar
HypersomniacLive: [emphasis added]

I can see the first part, but I don't buy the part I highlighted. Do you have anyone(s) in particular in mind among the absent people?
not particularly. I see you're going for catte, but I don't think he lies about whether he was attending the game or not. I think this is the sort of thing catte does not lie about. The light may have gone on, but if he says he didn't read the thread we can trust that.

Doesn't mean he can't be mafia.

Yeah, I guess from your point of view bucktooth was more of a thing than my point of view. tbh I hadn't really read either of your bucktooth pushes, and I only had time to check the game very briefly in the run up to end of day. I saw bucktooth was the new wagon, thought 'he could be mafia, sure' and voted, then thought "I hope whatever HypersomniacLive has written there is good stuff and makes sense."

I picked up that your argument was to do with tone difference between this game and others I think?

Anyway I kinda thought that the bucktooth wagon was last-minute panic that in the light of Day might not be seen as worth pursuing, if it had failed. But actually you had put in more work than I'm giving you credit for. Sorry.

RWarehall: While I think your push is curious, there are 4 better candidates for lynch than you Joe...
this is toDay you're talking about? The four people being the ones who weren't on buck's wagon?

avatar
RWarehall: ...off chance for Ambiti0nZ, but he has fallen to just the 6th prettiest princess which is solid Town territory 9 players.
is it worth trying this sentence again? :)

you did ask it! I know I shouldn't be engaging with this because you're just going to keep responding and really there's no point to any of it but what's the point in me saying "don't answer that" for you to say "do answer that" for me to say "i think it's dangerous" for you to say "well I didn't want people to answer it" just say "yeah let's not answer it Joe MAYBE HAS A POINT HE MIGHT NOT BE A BIG CHUMPY DOOFUS LIKE WE THOUGHT HE WAS ALL THIS TIME"?

RWarehall: While I think your push is curious, there are 4 better candidates for lynch than you Joe...off chance for Ambiti0nZ, but he has fallen to just the 6th prettiest princess which is solid Town territory 9 players.
ok I get you. your top four prettiest princeess are Catte, Dessimu (hi dess), Razza and babark, fifth place is me, which puts Ambiti0nZ in 6th place which makes him pretty much town for you considering there's only 9 other players.

I stole this question off someone from mafia universe, but if you could blast 5 peole out the airlock now, and if any scums remained on deack you'd lose, would you go with those 5? Catte, Dess, Razza, Babark, me?

The question I asked was "Has anyone noticed?" not "What do you notice? PLEASE TELL ME!". It's a good thing that you warned people not to answer the second, because if you thought I said that then maybe other people would too.

I don't mean that in a "HAHA UR SO DUMB" sense, I think that you have a good point which is that it's possible to read question 1 and imagine that question 2 naturally follows and answer that. I just wanted to make it clear that I only actually asked question 1 and that I wasn't expecting answers (although if anyone was to answer, it's a simple yes or no question). I think that between us we've definitely drawn enough attention to the fact that we should not mention what we notice. Our work here is done!

Everyone is still sleepy from the Night and a bit shocked over the loss of Max. Those gravestones really don't look funny. They are not the kind of graves you dig up to get bones for voodoo spells, but the kind of graves that means someone died here. So no one is really willing to cast the first stone. Talking and thinking seems to be on the agenda instead of wild voting. Like in an adventure game, really.

JoeSapphire: The light may have gone on, but if he says he didn't read the thread we can trust that.
+1. I have leftover tabs all the time and on various devices but it doesn't mean I'm online and actively reading the thread. I'm pretty sure the same applies to other, especially people who work on a computer. To be perfectly honest I've always disliked that badge being used to persecute people for not participating in a game :/
hey folks!
apologies for my slight absence, i was a little busy IRL but i did manage to get through the thread and have a look.
i also apologise for not voting, i thought i’d be able to get a vote in before i left but i didn’t and then by the time i got home and back on here it was night phase.

anyways, i’m back B) i see we had a last minute vote on bucktooth and it seemed to be pretty successful?
please correct me if i’m wrong.

detective_razza: please correct me if i’m wrong.
Wrong about what?
New page bug test
I must say I was expecting more activity than this - my fellow townies, let's not get complacent/lazy because we nailed a scum on D1. This is the time we need to push forward, control the thread.

From toDay's posts:

avatar
babark: I kinda do, honestly. I've been through d1 stuff, and I don't see anything bucktooth did that was particularly suspicious (any more than anyone else). Glad it happened, so thanks, yeah, but still. [...]
Yep, you're firmly in the PoE.

Are you ever going to reply to my post #346, or are you planning to just go through D2 dodging it?

avatar
my name is catte: You almost certainly did see that. But as I've said in previous games (in fact I have a feeling it was you who brought it up before) the online light is virtually meaningless. I keep a GOG forum tab permanently open in every browser I use - that includes my computer at work and my phone. If the browser happens to refresh that tab then I will show as online for a while. I've never tested how long it lasts but I imagine it's on a timer and shows a person as being online for X minutes after a page load.[...]
TIL. I didn't know that the GOG online status feature behaves this way; bleh. I expected to hear something like you thought you had some time, came on, and then something came up and you had to leave suddenly, and it'd have been fine because rule #3.
I'm pretty certain, however, that we've never had this discussion before - if I'd known about it, I wouldn't have the thoughts I had at EoD1.

avatar
dedoporno: [...] I'd say there is at least 1 scum among Babark, Catte, Joe, razza, Dessimu, RW.

[...]
Out of the list above the trickiest one I think is RW. [...]
Talk to me about the rest in the list. Do you think any of them are going to self-resolve, and if yes, which ones? What about the rest? Remember, we only have two mislynches if there are two more mafia.

avatar
dedoporno: [...] I think he only makes sense as scum if he has some special role and has decided he's just more valuable than the goon who got accused with solid arguments and people started jumping from him [RW] to his goon buddy. Otherwise it seems a bit cutthroat-y. RW did post some pretty good things near the end of the Day which felt like they came from a Townie mindset so I'm more included to leave him out of the immediate scummy shortlist. [...]
Why do you frame it as him having a special role that makes him more valuable than the goon? Doesn't any role tramp goon? Being a stump-maker doesn't count.

On to my second point - as I said in my first post of the Day, we didn't really have the votes to lunch RWarehall in the final hours of EoD1. So, given that he's generally pro-Lynch, and had made posts #361, #371 and #375, do you think that he'd try and save his scum-buddy in a scenario where he doesn't have a special role as you said? I mean, we barely made the votes to get a wagon over, and that was with his vote; you think he'd risk standing out as the one who let it go to NL, and thus his own lunch on D2?

avatar
RWarehall: [...] I was the first person to support the idea of bucktoothgamer after HSL suggested it. Although I did not change my vote at the time. In fact, I was the only player to comment on it AT ALL! [...]
Please elaborate, how does any of this make you town?

avatar
RWarehall: [...] Ambiti0nZ did switch his vote without explanation. [...]
He had said he had a scum-read on bucktoothgamer back in post #282, right behind babark.

avatar
RWarehall: [...] Well we had 8 people online/voting/available and one was Buck. [...]
Who all are you counting as said people to reach a total of seven without bucktoothgamer?

avatar
JoeSapphire: [...] not particularly. [...]
Then why did you bring it up?

avatar
JoeSapphire: [...] tbh I hadn't really read either of your bucktooth pushes, and I only had time to check the game very briefly in the run up to end of day. So you asked LordCephy to talk about his read of FrostburnPhoenix as an experienced player but didn't read it, you were planning to read RWarehall and me but didn't do it, and you didn't read my bucktoothgamer pushes and have no idea if they made sense...
This sounds awfully like you made zero effort to game-solve after you formed your initial pool of people to take for the D1 lunch.

In the PoE you stay.

avatar
JoeSapphire: [...] I kinda thought that the bucktooth wagon was last-minute panic that in the light of Day might not be seen as worth pursuing, if it had failed. But actually you had put in more work than I'm giving you credit for. Sorry. [...]
Perhaps you're projecting your last-minute panic to be on the right wagon...?

avatar
detective_razza: [...] i did manage to get through the thread and have a look.
[...]

anyways, i’m back B) i see we had a last minute vote on bucktooth and it seemed to be pretty successful?
please correct me if i’m wrong.
I don't follow - if you managed to get through the thread and have a look, why are you uncertain about the D1 Lunch outcome?

I'll check back in later, have some stuff from D1 I'd like to go over with people, and I hope that, by that time, ZFR, Dessimu and Abmiti0nZ will have made an appearance and some contributions.
avatar
HypersomniacLive: Yep, you're firmly in the PoE.

Are you ever going to reply to my post #346, or are you planning to just go through D2 dodging it?
Ehwhat?
So because it's not plausible (in any way I see) that you're scum, and because you got lucky with starting a wagon, suddenly you're king and everyone answers to you?

Are you seriously aggressively telling me to give evidence of your aggressiveness towards everyone in a post where you're being aggressive to everyone? Can you see why I skipped that question when you asked it the first time around? Apparently this is your normal way of addressing people in Mafia games, but I gotta say, I'm certainly not used to it.

As for ideas based off of the sequence of votes (can't really be with any certainty, because the rushed timing at the end seems to have caused confusion), my simplistic reading of it would be that there's at least one mafia among catte, Joe and dedo.
