nmillar: Unless the NK is blocked, yes. FWIW, I'd guess at Catte, phaolo and Lift at this stage.
I'm pretty sure about Lift and phaolo. I thought Vitek or Micro would be the last scum but I guess it's possible it's Catte as he also was putting a lot of work but his IRL explanation sounded legit so I gave him a pass on that.
avatar
phaolo: LOL Lift and Micro were mafia.. I didn't understand s**t too XD

Btw town has been unlucky too, we had crap role types (no cop?) and those players were killed immediately.
Oh, phaolo wasn't mafia? Now that's a surprise.

At least I was finally able to crack Lift. About damn time.

Oh well. Good job scum, not so good job Town. The game was fun even if it was an annoyingly long read some times.

I hope at least GH is happy people went for his read after all.

Thanks for hosting, ZFR!

Why did you suspect me too exactly? *scratches head*
avatar
nmillar: Damn it, I was so close!
You were but it was bit too late and you were voting the only person that wasn't mafia. ;-)

Good game, everyone.
Thanks to mod, for well-made game.

Sorry for my low activity but I really was extremly busy at work and when at home I was too tired to participate.
So, GH, about that ass kicking ...

dedoporno: I hope at least GH is happy people went for his read after all.
Oh, right. He started successful wagon. :-)

phaolo: Why did you suspect me too exactly? *scratches head*
Because you were following too close in Lift's footsteps and he was definitely scum. That made you look scummy as well.
Good decision from scum to NK me, as I had seen Lift visiting Catte, and thus would've been all over his case today based on his play.

Micro's JOAT claim should've sent alarm bells ringing, given that it included a watcher (which I was), but yeah, phaolo just didn't have the experience to immediately see that and unvote.

@Micro: good job on your first scum game!

Sorry town for being so convincingly wrong two days in a row, and not pursuing my third scum-pick from D1. :(

@Vitek: I'm never, ever town-reading you ever again!

@phaolo: thanks for joining us in this game. I hope you had fun, despite the loss, and will be back for more?

@ZFR: thanks for hosting and patiently oho'ing all my questions and speculation. :D

Let me address the most importnant things first.

avatar
phaolo: What would be the advantage of breadcrumbing for scum exactly? They could just report it in the next night..
avatar
Microfish_1: I know that in one of my first games ZFR came out on D3 and said "the leaves are turning color." or some such. I immediately jumped on this as being an irrelevant "post for the sake of posting" and 3-4 people piled on me.

It turned out that ZFR had investigated someone overnight and had written a message to his fellow scum (ie "if the first word is X, it means ABC is DEF, but if the first word is Y, it means GHI is JKL")

Vitek: Yuck.
Yuck indeed, because it's so not true.

Here is the post I made
https://www.gog.com/forum/general/forum_ma..._the_rescue/post278

It was just me poking fun at blotunga for making obvious statements. I wasn't signaling to anybody. This was D1 so I had nothing to signal and we had live Day chat so I could just talk there.

As somewhat of an expert in steganography, I'd like to think that had we needed to communicate, I'd have easily come up with a much better method. Even without encryption. Like using the nth letter of the mth word (which in fact many people do, and if I recall wed did for fun too).

Microfish_1: (is rational number the right term? I forget my math. at any rate, it isn't a whole number.)
No. 9/4 is rational. You meant whole number (integer).

Huh, the game was basically already lost when I went to bed given both GH and Phaolo were town.

All it took was for the mafia to be online together. Turns out I was right about Micro but I never got close to Lift or Vitek. It's safe to say I was no help at all this game.

Thanks for the game ZFR, interesting how slim it turned out to be in terms of PRs.

ZFR: catte:
You fly around the pitch enjoying the sun. You fly really well. Nice broom. You'd think it's Japanese, but it's actually Canadian.
Is that a subtle Fawlty Towers reference?

So we had two Slytherins, two Gryffindors, two Hufflepuffs and three Ravenclaws. Should've really pushed harder on the house-claim. :/

Vitek and later Lift were against it, too.

gogtrial34987: @phaolo: thanks for joining us in this game. I hope you had fun, despite the loss, and will be back for more?
It was interesting, but I'm not good at this at all.
Also, I'd feel a bit dirty lying as a scum lol.

IMO the days were too few and too long, the player's partecipation was very unbalanced, keeping up with 1k posts was a bit frustrating, real clues were almost unexistant, and the randomness\luck factor was too high for my tastes.

I guess I'll stick to D&D and its non-flavor text :P
(btw, I really hope there will be another one).

GG, everyone!
This was my first game as scum, and there were some things that had me literally pulling my hair out at times.

Town had me sweating a lot, and I was sure I was being seen through far too often. I don't think I'll envy scum again!

Congratulations and thanks to ZFR for a unique and fun game!
No-chat added quite a twist, and made it possible for me to play without worrying that I was missing everything on the weekends.
Also, poor ZFR's inbox got flooded (especially today) as I virtually tore my hair out while on tenterhooks. Thank you.

The rotating-roles things made it quite interesting. I only breadcrumbed the role I did because I had two successive night actions, and was so hoping the real tracker wouldn't observe me sitting around doing nothing N3.
I'm not sure I was aware of the neopolitian (Vanilla Cop) role before this game, so that was interesting! Sneaky McSkeakers (ZFR) here gave us a "1-use unblockable NK" that left me on the edge of my seat hoping I hadn't wasted a chance by not using it--and then ZFR informed me that not only were there no take-backsies so that I could use it, but any commuter etc would have avoided it. :O

@GH You were playing much better than sometimes. It wasn't that i was ignoring you but had to actively work as hard as I could to discredit your views much of the game.
The NK (and the reason that you weren't it was a case of (at least in my case) "birthday gift + I didn't want people to study your reads to see who you suspected + I had been scared of Gogtrial since mid-D1." (I thought that he had seen right through me since D1, so when the time came, I asked ZFR to cordially invited Gogtrial to watch the game from the observer's box).

the last hour or so between popping on, seeing Lifts vote, and waiting for Vitek's was nerve-wracking because my logic was so flimsy.

Also, we are praising God because we learned Friday (October 2nd) that my dad does not have cancer, so that is a huge relief to me/my family. Thank you all for unknowingly being a huge and very welcome distraction from that concern and fear over the last month.

@Phaolo, it was wonderful to have you here with us. What I said early game about never being able to see scum etc is true, despite my alignment. Please play with us in the future!

@Everyone--thank you for playing; this was a fun game, if nerve-wracking. I don't know how others can play scum while being totally cool and be very involved without showing something.

@gogtrial, when i said I wanted to see your opinion about something, I meant it.

Query to all:

1. thoughts on fake-claiming one's role name or a fake-name?

2. By the by, are there any town roles that can give false positives to a role cop? (similar to how millar turns "scum" to a cop?)

##############

Real-time thoughts:

avatar
Microfish_1: @Vitek as ZFR is not around to tell you you are wrong about your team (I mean, he is, but he also isn't, If you know what I mean) I'm going to tell you that your readlist is wrong as far as I am concered.
avatar
Vitek: Because you know some of those other 2 are town? :-)
ROFL!!!! xD

avatar
gogtrial34987: You've semi-retracted several things after our back-and-forth discussions. Could you sum up what's left at this point which makes you believe me to be a worthy lunch target?
AGHHHHH Nothing!!! :P

Also, i know I did stuff wrong. What was my biggest failing as scum?

avatar
gogtrial34987: @phaolo: thanks for joining us in this game. I hope you had fun, despite the loss, and will be back for more?

Thank you for joining us, and I'm sorry the final days were so draggy, but I couldn't think of anything to say on-topic that wouldn't give stuff away so I stayed quiet. You will get better as you play more games of this. I was awful in my first game (bad) and worse in my second, but I like to think that I have gotten better since then.

Would you be up for a game of The Court of the Sultan or SH when we run those again?
Also, I get what you mean about lying as scum; Carradice, however played an entire game as scum without lying once, though he did say that it was difficult.

it was fun playing with you.

gogtrial34987: My preferred lunches for today are:
1. Trent
2. Joe
3. Lift

nmillar, microfish and blotunga to prevent nolunch.
So, since I got 2/6 right, which is considerably above the proper average of 3/11 that statistics have laid down for our guidance, I am claiming moral victory here.
