OK, let's look at the first reactions after reads (gogtrial34987's and mine) came out:
- trentonlf's is working hard to get back on gogtrial34987's good side; he's trying hard to convince gogtrial34987 that the latter's reading too much into his town-read of Vitek, citing, unsurprisingly, his previous game where he was town. He's completely ignoring not only my comments on him, but also JoeSapphire's questions from post #959; again, lack of commitment on why he's allegedly scum-reading Bookwyrm627 together with SirPrimalform, and how my flip factors in to his "game-solving", plus a bit of fear that the more he talks, the more his narrative's in danger to evolve, and he's got more than one pair of eyes on him.
And then we have post #1002. A mix of half-hearted joking and AtE. From the guy who in post #986 run gogtrial34987's ears about how he believes that town should always fight hard ("with all they have" are his words) not to get lynched when on the chopping block. Yep, that's guilty trentonlf alright. Guilty trentonlf resigning to his fate to give his scum-buddy a better chance to achieve that mafia win he mentions.
- Bookwyrm627 is also working to get back on gogtrial34987's good side, but with a different strategy; he completely ignores gogtrial34987's post #984, continues to shade me at every chance he gets, and "pushes" the trentonlf+HSL scum pair (but not without a preference to me), while nicely positioning himself among those cited by gogtrial34987 (town-flipped Lifthrasil and himself) as having been pushing supplementscene to read the rules, by completely twisting/misrepresenting the part of gogtrial34987's post he "quoted".
Much later he returns with a response to my read of him, which, unsurprisingly, is a collection of more shading and accusations, sprinkled with a "If only I were the evil mastermind you say I am" for good measure.
I've quoted and referenced posts and post numbers, the posts are there for anyone interested to check and see if things add up the way I see them. And anyone that has played with Bookwyrm627 before knows that he's smart and cunning, and what he's capable of when it comes to planning and plotting. I stand by what I posted, except for two things when I also factor in the latest posts and developments:
1. I've gone over the case of a Vitek+Bookwyrm627 scum pair, and still find that Bookwyrm627 FoS-ing both his scum-buddies on D1 to be a big issue, and the distancing/superficial interactions don't seem enough to overcome it. I still think he bussed supplementscene both Days, but him
"scum"-reading Vitek/supplementscene on D1 fits better with the pattern of who was his D3
"scum"-read (mchack+HSL).
2. I initially allowed my town-lean on trentonlf to cloud my read on Bookwyrm627's D4 "scum"-pair choice, taking it as another one that fits the pattern (which it does on the surface). But after seeing their reactions (his and trentonlf's), and Bookwyrm627's latest posts, I'm seeing a different picture.
- SirPrimalform is still caught deep in his refusal to accept that other players may well see things differently without them instantly being scum. Par for the course, so nothing that changes my read on him.
- Vitek's reaction seems more natural to me than those of Bookwyrm627 and trentonlf (and I'll get to his reply to me). So, while he's not completely off the hook, he'd be my #3 lynch-choice for Today. Mostly because of the other two.
So, trentonlf's playing to his post #877:
trentonlf: [...] I can answer for me, and I’m it sure of anyone else, but if I’m mafia I will bus any of my buddies without blinking an eye. As I’ve said in the past I will gladly bus them and then run them over with the bus a few times just for good measure.
and starts a wagon on Bookewyrm627, likely counting on there not being another four votes among the rest of us.
Bookwyrm627's playing to this post #889:
Bookwyrm627: [...] I'll ditch a scum buddy if I think it serves the team. I don't feel the need to throw them under the bus if I have a reasonable out, and I might try to save them if it isn't going to risk the rest of us too much (or if the reward is worth it). [...]
He initially keeps on his attempt to get me mislynched, but then suddenly he switches to trentonlf in post #1000.
Let's take a look at the numbers. Mafia can afford a bussing, either Today or Tomorrow. So, initially Bookwyrm627 was playing to the latter part of his bussing stance, but then switched rather emphatic. What caused the change?
The answer lies in this part of gogtrial34987's post #984:
gogtrial34987: [...]
If trent flips mafia, I could see either Bookwyrm or HSL as his partner, with a gut feeling lean toward HSL.
If Bookwyrm flips mafia, I could see either trent or Vitek as his partner, with a gut feeling lean toward trent. [...]
If trentonlf flips mafia, gogtrial34987's leaning towards his scum-buddy being me.
But if Bookwyrm627 flips mafia, he thinks trentonlf's more likely the scum-buddy.
Which one sounds like the better scenario for mafia since bussing looks pretty much unavoidable at this point? To flip trentonlf first and go for my mislynch Tomorrow, or to flip Bookwyrm627 first and risk trentonlf being Tomorrow's lynch, and thus risk losing the game? Gee, let me think... The former, of course. Bookwyrm627 earns some town cred after trentonlf flips not only for voting him but being the first after the Lovers on his wagon, his
"scum"-read on me also earns some validation, then has all of D5 to get me mislynched. Because, besides
"scum"-reading me himself, at least one of the Lovers thought so too, the one Lover that's been consistent with analysis and game-solving. Won't the town be inclined to listen to the Lovers, who conveniently won't be around to maybe change their minds/reads, nor vote? Especially at such a crucial point in the game?
Brilliant, isn't it? Well played, Bookwyrm627, well played.
So yes, scum!Bookwyrm627, you are
that together, and you most certainly are as smart and cunning as I think and have been saying. To be fair, though, scum!trentonlf is pretty good at plotting too.
Now, my best interest would be to try to shift things in flipping Bookwyrm627 first, if I were the scum that most, if not all, of you think I am. But I'm confident that the scum-pair's Bookwyrm627+trentonlf, so I'm good with either one to flip first, and trust that the town will make the right decision come D5.
I was ready to place my vote at the end of this post, but that'd put him at L-1. OTOH, nobody else is around besides trentonlf (just saw gogtrial34987's light go on, but he's already on the wagon), so the risk of a quick hammer is pretty low. On the other other hand, I'd like to address a couple of things but have to go AFK for a while, so I'll do it in my next post.
