You overlooked that the role of CM's is not to know literally everything about a company or a game they listed on storefront years and years ago. Recent product, sure. Shockingly, info can be fed from other department and sources that is incorrect.

You got me. I done goofed on my first attempt. But it's better to admit you are wrong and correct your mistake than to persist in it, IMHO.

In case it was not clear before, I agree with you it was most likely bad wording, but I don't think someone put those words in his mouth, therefore it was his mess to clean up. I'm not up to speed with the issue - if he or EA issued an apology at a later time, then it's fine. Errare humanum est.

What I'm saying is that:

"Hi! I apologize for the delay - I had to check internally about GOG, since I was not aware of their status. It looks like they're not on our list of authorized retailers. In such cases we recommend you reach out to them directly for a refund. Have a nice day!"

would have made it sound a lot less like a guy stating GOG is some sort of shady retailer, but rather a guy being given the wrong info or just simple miscommunication. My 2 cents, using whatever amount of think juice I could muster.

The return of Syndicate and Ultima Underworld is an interesting twist.

It makes me wonder if GOG expressed their displeasure at being called unauthorised and EA brought the games back as a sort of apology/settlement.
I'm not sure whether you could make a real libel case out of it or not, but it seems to me that a company as big as EA suggesting GOG was not a legitimate partner has the real potential to damage GOG's reputation.

That's seems to be standard operating procedure for a number of GOG staffers....they often reply once in certain threads and then don't reply to any replies sent their way.
(side note: that same staffer, who is also the head forum staffer, has [iirc] not once replied back to even my PMs to them on various issues)

That happened after this thread was made....also several posts like post 82 seems to speculate on that a bit.

As for me: I have a theory(shared with me by another gogger) that EA might be trying to saturate the market with copies of those games (note that it's free for ONE MONTH, then will be sold for normal price.....by then most people should have a copy) so that they can justify (due to low if not no sales) pulling them permanently at a later date.

Especially since as I already pointed out, Sega has a game here. One game, but that's still enough to explain and justify them listing GOG as a partner.
