Please use: http://mantis.gog.com and include
1. steps to reproduce the bug (if possible)
2. screenshot or movie showing the bug (if possible)
3. Galaxy Client logs (see below)

Where can I find Galaxy logs on my computer?
On Windows 7 or later: C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\Logs
On Mac OS X: /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/Logs

== FEATURE SUGGESTIONS ==

Please use: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy. For feature suggestions and votes on them please try do explain how Galaxy and its users will really benefit from it.

== IMPORT ALREADY INSTALLED GAMES TO GALAXY ==

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

== KNOWN ISSUES ==
- throttling max download speed is not yet possible
- notifications related to incoming chat messages and friend requests does not always disappear instantly when consumed and may require reloading Store page
- games imported from existing installations will auto-update once, even if updating is disabled
- Moving Galaxy from /Applications on Mac OS X will stop the app from working
- Galaxy cannot be launched by other users on the same computer

For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5:
Please install one of those windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3118401
You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.
Available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

If above instructions doesn't work for you, create a separate issue on mantis.gog.com and we'll try to help you individually.

Please note that this solution only helps with the missing api-ms-crt dlls.

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

So I downloaded Witcher 3 through Gog downloader and installed it. When I opened Galaxy it was already added to the library so I guess it worked, but there's something that bugs me, when I use the show folder function, it points me to the galaxy folder not the game's installation folder, is this normal?
avatar
light487: Still want confirmation that copying an entire folder structure of Witcher 3 after preloading through Galaxy will still work now that I've pointed Galaxy to it. When I started to download the game, all folders were on default as it was the first download I did through Galaxy. I changed the options mid-download so that the install directory would be my S: (SSD) drive but it still installed it on the default drive...

I don't want to have to download the entire game again.. it's a shame that the installer is not kept as a backup. It would make sense to me to have an option to not delete the installer when it is downloaded by Galaxy, so you have a backup in case of stuff like this or so you can burn it to a disc or something.

So will my copied version work?
When you install a game through Galaxy, it is not downloading the installer then installing it and then deleting it, so there is no installer to keep as a backup. It installs a pre-installed version of the game that is separate from the standalone installers. If you want to download your games once and have both a backup copy and the installed game then download the installer by clicking on More->Download Extras, then manually install the game outside of Galaxy and then have Galaxy import it to recognize it. They will likely make this whole process much smoother in the future but this is how it is right now. I too want to download once and have a backup copy as always before, so this is how I do it - download installer, manual install, import into Galaxy. There are problems with some games that haven't been ironed out yet doing this also so be aware that some might not import right or have other issues until they fix the remaining bugs. beta beta beta. :)

avatar
bulldog0890: Is there a way to take screenshots, like in steam you can just press F12. nice and convenient
No, not yet. They have mentioned that they are planning on working on an overlay feature for Galaxy and I suspect functionality like screenshots will be part of that. I believe Steam inserts hooks into Direct X to intercept access to the framebuffer where it can capture a screenshot or video stream, so GOG could do something similar with Galaxy in the future also. I think such a feature is likely to be a way down the line though because they need to basically build the core functionality and get the kinks worked out first, so I'm guessing it'll be some months or more before we see such things show up but I wont at all be surprised to see that happen sometime down the line. :)

In the mean time though, be sure to read the manual for any particular game or bring up the in-game options screen and look at the keyboard layout bindings. Many if not most games have their own built in screenshot functionality and while it is often assigned to F12 or F10 too, they sometimes have it on some other key. Not quite as nice as having a standard key that works in every game, but still nice to have even though you need to hunt in a manual. :)

deadfloat: - pausing downloads or throttling max download speed is not yet possible

This right here is still not working. WTF!
That should never have been an issue right from the release.
Nothing like trying to download the witcher 3, getting part way, and then it fails. Fking cool.
Just bring back the GOG.com Downloader.
Galaxy isn't yet released though, it is in beta. Yes, it sucks when software encounters problems or is missing functionality but that is precisely what a beta test is - testing software that is known to have bugs and be missing features. If testing beta software causes you to experience anger then you probably should not use it until the final release of the software is actually released out of beta and considered stable and feature-complete.

GOG Downloader is still there and still usable. But it's days are numbered and it is ultimately not coming back once it does go, nor having any more development done on it, I think they've made that pretty rock solid clear, but there's no harm in asking for it either. It just isn't going to happen. Having said that, I have GOG Downloader installed and use it almost every day and it works perfectly fine so there's nothing right now to actually "bring back" because it hasn't disappeared.

GOG Downloader never stopped working, it works now as it always did. I'm downloading stuff with it as I type.

Yeah, my bad. It is still around, but it has been moved. You have to click the MORE button and then select GOG DOWNLOADER LINKS. I get that Galaxy is in Beta, but not being able to pause and resume a download should be something that is corrected first. It is a pretty big deal.
Do achievements works for anyone ? i try Witcher 2 and I get none even though I see I got them in the game itself

I agree it is an important feature, and GOG has indicated a few times previously they are already working on that too, so a future update will most likely have that ability very soon. I think it is marked "in progress" on the Galaxy wishlist too. It's not the worst thing in the world that it is missing right now though. :)

I also agree that the GOG Downloader link handling is semi-obscure currently and I hope they rework that to be more intuitive. Chalking it up to state-of-flux for now though. :)

I think that's the only game that has them so far. Probably needs to be launched from within Galaxy I'm guessing (I could be wrong). Not sure where they show up within the client UI though, haven't seen anything with achievements yet and my Witcher 2 is Galaxy unaware apparently so can't test it although I'd like to see how that functionality is working too. :)

Just some personal data points on my download experience with Galaxy tonight for GOG+others for comparison purposes. I bought TW3 preload tonight and decided to try downloading it with Galaxy client manual download links. I have 25Mbps Internet which actually maxes out at around 31Mbps because my ISP is nice. :) This means my maximum download speeds end up around 3.1-3.3MB/s when everything is working in my favour. I've successfully downloaded all of The Witcher 3 preload data and all of the extras at a fairly constant rate of 3.3MB/s through Galaxy client. Occasionally it dropped down to 3.1MB/s or as low as 2.6MB/s periodically while I was watching but it appeared to be maintaining a pretty solid and reliable data download rate of 3.3MB/s throughout the majority of time it took to download. I've tested the files I was able to test by going inside the archives, watching the videos etc. and everything appears to have downloaded properly without errors and all downloads completed successfully. So your CDN seems to be up to scratch for a data pounding download like The Witcher 3 at least in my little neck of the woods here in Canada in the wee hours of the morning.

Hopefully any kinks in the servers or software that others are encountering that are limiting speeds or causing broken or incomplete downloads elsewhere get ironed out before the 19th. Looking good from here in the meantime though.
My client opens but only shows an empty window - so i can't use it in any way.
Funnily enough, I don't have any problems on my laptop.
If that matters, the desktop pc has a amd processor and graphics card while the laptop hast intel+nvidia.
I can't make any sense of it - but I'd really like to fix the issue until The Witcher 3 is about to be launched. ;-(

PS: I attached a picture of the problem.

Hey,

Similar issue is being dealt with here: http://mantis.gog.com
It is call ID: 0002280 (unresolved).

I think you can just add your problem to that existing call.

You could try reinstalling the Galaxy client. Is the install in a different area on the laptop?

Error tracking for Galaxy is located here:

C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\logs

Just check the date modified before and after you open the Galaxy client to see where the error is.
"A NEW IDEA".

I suggest to create a tool in GOG GALAXY that can detect the rig and , if the user allow it, can give anonymously to CD PROJECT, so they can do a statistic for future games, and as GOG is a INDIE platform maybe this statistic can also be used by indie developers.

The possible tool MUST NOT BE A FORM, or noone will do it, must be an easy "click" detect my rig"and will also be useful if can privide a "green light" near the games that you can run, so you are sure that what you buy is something that you can play with your actual rig.

this is just a suggestion but i'm sure will turn useful
There seems to be no way to just download the installer files for a game and save them (not installing the game)?
The same applies to patch installer files.

I just want to download the installer and patch files - nothing more. I don't need a mega blown up program.

Not a bad idea, although such a thing should be disabled by default for privacy. Even better would be for the system requirements of each game to be sent to client side and let the client/browser compare the requirements for a game with the local system specs and javascript can display the relevant info without sending anything to the remote end. The downside to doing it this way though is that the website would have to send gobs more data over the wire to the client and it seems they already are trying to find ways to reduce the data load sent to the browser/client so that's unlikely to happen. The idea is a good one though that would provide some utility to users that I think a lot of people would like.

Your idea is probably the least overhead though if a use is comfortable with sharing their system details with GOG/CDPR and storing it in their account, then the decisions could be made server-side. Would still increase the load on the server though but still a cool idea. :)

Game page -> More -> Download Extras

Yes, not the most intuitive place to put it or title to use. :)
