Please use: http://mantis.gog.com and include
1. steps to reproduce the bug (if possible)
2. screenshot or movie showing the bug (if possible)
3. Galaxy Client logs (see below)

Where can I find Galaxy logs on my computer?
On Windows 7 or later: C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\Logs
On Mac OS X: /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/Logs

== FEATURE SUGGESTIONS ==

Please use: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy. For feature suggestions and votes on them please try do explain how Galaxy and its users will really benefit from it.

== IMPORT ALREADY INSTALLED GAMES TO GALAXY ==

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

== KNOWN ISSUES ==
- throttling max download speed is not yet possible
- notifications related to incoming chat messages and friend requests does not always disappear instantly when consumed and may require reloading Store page
- games imported from existing installations will auto-update once, even if updating is disabled
- Moving Galaxy from /Applications on Mac OS X will stop the app from working
- Galaxy cannot be launched by other users on the same computer

For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5:
Please install one of those windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3118401
You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.
Available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

If above instructions doesn't work for you, create a separate issue on mantis.gog.com and we'll try to help you individually.

Please note that this solution only helps with the missing api-ms-crt dlls.

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

Cool beta so far. Can't wait to see improvements
Sorry to be lazy and not page through the whole thread... but is it already known that a large number of game installation folders aren't recognized during an import operation, even when they're in the default install folder as an ordinary previous GoG install?

On my desktop machine it only managed to find two games out of... actually not that many, maybe five, due to having a small SSD. Then on the laptop it found seven out of 15. So in both cases it seems like it only picks up on about half the installed games.

Is this known and just a beta thing, or should we be providing lists of unrecognized games?

henriquejr: Why the option for "Import Folder" isn't working properly ?

I downloaded The Witcher 3 using GoG Downloader (because GoG Galaxy just downloads at 0.2 MB/s max) but when I try to import its folder into Galaxy, the Galaxy just keeps redownloading the game (at that same 0.2 MB/s max), as if the game wasn't downloaded at all.

Yes, I pointed out to Galaxy application the correct folder where TW3 was downloaded (D:\GOG.com\GOG.com Downloads\the_witcher_3_wild_hunt). The files within this folder are:

setup_the_witcher_3_wild_hunt_2.0.0.28 (25 MB)
setup_the_witcher_3_wild_hunt_2.0.0.28-1 (4 GB)
setup_the_witcher_3_wild_hunt_2.0.0.28-2 (4 GB)
setup_the_witcher_3_wild_hunt_2.0.0.28-3 (4 GB)
setup_the_witcher_3_wild_hunt_2.0.0.28-4 (4 GB)
setup_the_witcher_3_wild_hunt_2.0.0.28-5 (4 GB)
setup_the_witcher_3_wild_hunt_2.0.0.28-6 (2.4 GB)
the_witcher_3_avatars (4 MB)

Randalator: Because you can only import installed games, not installer files.
I haven't noticed that, now it worked ! Thank you !
people are apparently aborting downloads because there is no sanity check. add a confirmation challenge somewhere to the download abortion process.

putting this here in case the thread owner did not because it seemed important enough.

kmja: my game its say its not available and that game is the bards tale how come that all the other games work not that.
i also see that outlast dlc is not showing upp as well
I have this same thing. Seems to just be a glitch, as the game works fine, as far as I can see.
Curious about auto-updates. I can't really see many option/settings in the Galaxy Client, or at least I can't find them. The only options I see are very general file location and startup settings.

What I want to know, is if auto-updates are on by default and if I simply leave my computer on during the launch day of Witcher 3, whether it will auto-update without any confirmation dialogs or whether there are confirmation dialogs that you need to click on to start downloads and/or the update process?
Just installed and linked my Outcast folder and updated it. Seems to work well, may discover problems. Not up to reading through 14 pages of comments.

First impression I do like it. Dare I say GOG's version of Steam? I"m not a Steam fan though, but if this helps me better manage GOG game updates I'm all for it.

MarkoH01: Just for info:
My last bug report: After importing an installed Witcher 1 through library import the game appears twice in start menu and windows software was disregarded because I used XP.
As I thought (because WinXP and Win7 work pretty much the same regarding such registry entrys and the reason why it behaves that way is also logical to me (different names for the game)) the bug is also there if you use Win7. Wasn't it great that you didn't even tried to see if this would be the case? Anyway - it is. Do with it what you like because I won't file another bug report.
GoG could use a few more community interaction skills.

However, the mark of "winxp not supported" on the bug you filed (which you seem to have taken GREAT offense at) was less a communication to you, and more of a triage action. They only have enough time to look at so many bugs, and your specific bug had a TON of winxp related elements to it. Enough that while the bug on Win7 may be for the same reason, it may actually exist for a different reason. As someone who works in bug software like this, in a situation like yours I too would glance through the bug and immediately think "oh, this is a winxp issue". It's not immediately clear that it might not be.

The terseness of the message in that bug has less to do with "telling you off" and more to do with "to future folks looking through the bug tracker, this is why I closed this bug and didn't look into it".

File the bug for win7. Or don't. Perfectly fair to be done with galaxy if it's not going to be supported in the future for your OS, of course. But you are blowing up over a perceived sleight that didn't happen.
As somebody who is website-minded, I just fired up the client as I'm about to install a gog game that uses it for multiplayer. However, as I said I'm website-minded for gog.com, and I downloaded the installer earlier in Firefox. I wondered if I'll be able to use the file I already downloaded, and nope, it doesn't seem so. As you iterate on Galaxy, since you support both website operation and client operation, and also since you have some mechanism by which people can archive games they installed through the client, whether by downloading the installer or building one from already-downloaded assets I don't know because I haven't tried anything like that, you should implement some kind situation to deal with this.

When clicking Install, Galaxy should scan a default directory for Archive/Installer/Both/Whatever for any backups or Installers from the website (or if they're the same thing) and prompt a user that a pre-existing package is detected and would the user like to download again?. You could also have a prompt for whether the user would like to choose an arbitrary directory containing an Installer. Or if these things aren't prompts from the Install process, they should be sub-menu options from the "More v" button or something. I think the first scenario should be a prompt but probably not the second, arbitary folder scenario.

I just tried using the Import function to detect an Installer under a GOG Games folder (it was non C but was in root of partition) and it didn't work, and started downloading again. I don't know if Import is more focused on migrating unpacked installations under Galaxy and if it even has anything to do with archive/backup functionality, but it would be good if you could get some kind of unification of install processes there. As it is, looks like I'll have to install (well not have to, but why download again?, especially if the game was big) with the binary, and then use Galaxy for multiplayer anyway.

I imagine plenty of people already have backup collections of plenty of gog Installers, and more will use Galaxy to backup things over time. So in both cases you need some kind downloaded-file-install-case scenario and it would be best if it supports both packages from the website and whatever form Galaxy backups take (if they're different. I'm thinking like Steam with the Galaxy backups.)

edit: Ok the running client did detect the game being installed to GOG Games folder when I ran the installer so that's good. The GOG Games folder that was being installed to was already set to the default in the Settings dialogue of Galaxy.

Auto-updates are on by default - keep in mind that you can launch and play your game as the update is downloading. If you don't want it automated, you can click MORE -> CONFIGURE for every game and disable that. This way you will be notified that if the update is available and you will have a choice of installing it or not.

You don't detect the installer, you detect the installed files. If game uses Galaxy MP, the the installer should be set up for Galaxy. Install the game to the same directory you got Galaxy pointed too, default is C:\GOG Games... then it should automatically pop up in Galaxy.

Also GOG will include an install script for archives at some point...
my download w3 is super slow but normal gog installer downloads 3,15mbs
avatar
DieRuhe: Well, I only tried two games with it: Banished and Mount & Blade. M&B wouldn't download properly (multiple tries); the only way I got it to run was by installing it the old way first. And then when I did play it... well, I admit I was a bit buzzed, but it just seemed as if the performance was way off. And it wasn't keeping track of game time (I'm assuming that's what those little clocks are for). So ok, maybe nothing major, but I decided to uninstall it because I'd rather give it some time for more kinks to get out. I have 32-bit, and I can't say it didn't work, it just wasn't at the point where I'd want to use it yet.

edit: Oh, and the slowness compared to the old downloader - though I have to say, the new "direct" download (not Galaxy) seems even quicker than the old downloader.
avatar
BKGaming: M&B Warband? That is currently broke in Galaxy, won't install. If you mean the original... I have both it and Banished installed without issue.
Yeah, Warband. After I installed it the old way and ran Galaxy, it was there, did the "updating" thing, and finally gave me the green "play" button.

Another reason I don't have it installed is I'm waiting for all the extras to become functional.
Did anyone play longer than 24 hours? Seems like timer stuck at 23h for me..
Hrmm.. I set my download/extras folder to my main C drive but my install folder to S: drive (which is SSD) but Witcher 3 installed on C drive instead. This is the first game I've downloaded through Galaxy. Is it possible for me to just copy all the files over to the S drive and then somehow point Galaxy at the S drive?

EDIT: So I copied all the files to the S drive and then "uninstalled" in Galaxy. Restarted Galaxy and then added the game manually.. says it's "Installed" now and when I manage the game and go to "Show Folder" it goes to the S drive.. just hope that's all I need to do and no registry edits need to take place?
