Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

== KNOWN ISSUES ==
- throttling max download speed is not yet possible
- notifications related to incoming chat messages and friend requests does not always disappear instantly when consumed and may require reloading Store page
- games imported from existing installations will auto-update once, even if updating is disabled
- Moving Galaxy from /Applications on Mac OS X will stop the app from working
- Galaxy cannot be launched by other users on the same computer

For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5:
Please install one of those windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3118401
You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.
Available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

If above instructions doesn't work for you, create a separate issue on mantis.gog.com and we'll try to help you individually.

Please note that this solution only helps with the missing api-ms-crt dlls.

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

Long posts. Took me all day and night from yesterday to now to finish reading them. x_x

Basically Galaxy doesn't function in any way I wanted to use it. I dislike the forced "press a button and have it control everything" methodology. Even Steam lets you choose when to install it after downloading, so it's a shame that the DRM-Free client is actually more restrictive. I have yet to get a single game running through it because the only ways to use it remaining are inconvenient, and the point of a client is supposed to be convenience. I don't have bandwidth to waste going around their issues.

TW3 was good for bringing in money but not so great for retaining customers, and most of the money was bundled via NVIDIA which takes away from whether or not it could have done the same on its own (particularly whether the customers would have opted for Steam versions instead). There are many logistical reasons for all of that and an incomplete client was definitely one of them. Most of the other sales would have come through G2A/Kinguin just because it was the cheaper option. Direct sales are always minimal at full price.

Point being, GOG needs more direct sales and hasn't had great strategies for achieving that. Galaxy isn't as difficult to fix as they make it out to be. And you're saying they're already hitting 3 million euros just to get it to where it is now. Think of how much of that is coming just from Jack Keane alone. Scary thought.

MaximumBunny: out to be. And you're saying they're already hitting 3 million euros just to get it to where it is now.
No, I'm not saying that at all. I thought I made it rather clear that I was engaging in rampant speculation with numbers pulled right out of my ass to show that an amount of money that might seem like a lot to some people for developing something like Galaxy is more likely a trivial drop of water in the ocean. I have no idea whatsoever how much money GOG has spent on Galaxy so far, t might be $100,000 USD, or it might be $10,000,000,000 USD, neither you nor I have any remote clue about that.

You're taking one person's stated speculation and rearranging the words as if they were a fact, then putting a negative spin on it that isn't really there. You're free to like or dislike Galaxy and it may or may not meet your needs now or in the future, but please don't take words out of context and put spin on them that isn't there just because you're upset with Galaxy. We're just sharing opinions here after all. I have no particular agenda personally.

It's just software, so if it doesn't meet your expectations then it makes sense that you wont use it for the time being and that's entirely reasonable IMHO. Maybe check it out again in the future when it's out of beta and finalized to see if it offers you anything of value at that time. The great thing about Galaxy is that as advertised, it is optional so those that don't want to use it can keep using GOG the old way and there's nothing wrong with people continuing to do things the old way if it works for them of course. I still have the downloader installed myself however I never use it anymore, but do like it being there for a backup mechanism and hope they do try to keep that around for some time to come even in the "as-is" state it is.

To be honest, it does not meet my needs/desires right now either, however I'm using it to beta test it and never really had any expectations that it would be a feature complete product to test. I'll likely make heavier use of it once compression and delta updates are ready and it stabiliizes though, especially if it can do generic screenshots and similar functionality.
Hi guys!

Sorry bothering but I have a doubt.

I'm using the Galaxy client from hours and it appeared to me that all the 'old' .exe installation files are useless for that client.

Ok I'll give GOG that but then I downloaded (with Galaxy) a so-called backup copy of a game just to discover that Galaxy doesn't like it either.

So what's the point in downloading the Galaxy game and also a not usable .exe file while we could 7zip the Galaxy downloaded game and reinstall in the future?

What's in it for the backup feature of this Galaxy if it downloads a not-Galaxy compatible .exe file?

So could you help me in knowing where I'm wrong here or what I'm missing?

Thank you.

Most standalone installers should be Galaxy compatible now, meaning that when installed with the updated installers Galaxy will automatically detect the game. Not every installer may be updated though as of yet. If it's not you can import the game if Galaxy does not detect it.

== IMPORT ALREADY INSTALLED GAMES TO GALAXY ==

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the "+" button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.
Please be aware that Client will accept any folder pointed to and will overwrite files inside it (this can for example wipe some mods or damage other apps in case of pointing to a wrong folder) and will update the game to the newest version (current default language English).
The point of the backup standalone installer feature is not so much as to have a standalone installer that works with Galaxy, more so for people who are worried that something might happen to GOG and so they are not depended on Galaxy to install their games. With a standalone installer backup you can always install your game with or without Galaxy. It will always work.

Ok so my doubt is definitely real.

So if you already have any installer you must:

1. install the game from within the installer
2. try with gog galaxy to check the installed dir to identify game

Ok thank you.

Regards.

1. Make sure your installer files are new enough to have the Galaxy metadata files present in them. All game installers GOG produced by the time the unbundling of games was complete should be Galaxy ready.

2. Install the game using the installer.

3. Use "Import games" in Galaxy. For whatever reason that doesn't work with all games.

4. If step 3 failed, find the game in your Galaxy library view and click on it. Then click on "More->Manage->Import" and find the game. It should import now.

5. Galaxy does a sync to compare the installed game with the official current version of the game, if there is a mismatch it will update your installed game to the current version automatically. Note that if you have customized the game with mods, they will be blown away so if you don't want that to happen then configure Galaxy to disable game auto-updates.

Not very important thing but in Pillars of Eternity Achievements there is some bug in counting %. I have 30 out of 38 achievements and Galaxy Says it is 67% (if i count right it is closer to 80).

Is PoE one of the games with hidden achievements? That could explain the discrepancy (if game has 7 hidden achievements, you have 30 out of 45, thus 67%).

Oh. OK then. Thanx for help.
Re: Downloads being paused when Macbook Pro sleeps.

Is this a standard thing? Just installed Galaxy client and it has taken more than 2 days to try and install Shadowrun Dragonfall and it is still only 50%. Slow. SlooooooOOOooow and it seems to pause the download when my Macboo Pro hibernates. Is this an option? I can't see any option that says "Please pause my download every 15 minutes".

Cheers

Wouldn't it be better to show the hidden achievements with a lock or something and a description saying this is hidden? That we know there are more achievements that are hidden and how many.
When will Galaxy receive a new design? You need to improve the current client design.
Please include in the game description if there is a native support for controller and which kind
There is no way to add a parameter when launching a game. I have to add "-language english" to the executable of consortium (thanks for that) to avaoid a german/english mix in the game options. Works fine when doing this with a shortcut but there is no way I am getting galaxy to use it - even though in registry there already is an entry "launch parameter". The more I use galaxy the more I come to the conclusion that it has not much benefits. Whenever I archive a game and want to install it - galaxy still loads additional stuff. Achievements are only there for very few games and it also costs additional memory. The only benefits I have from it so far is the possibility to do a rollback, to have everything in one place and the possibility to see how long I have played. Imo this is not enough for a program which still has so many downsides (and it does not really seem to get any better). I guess I'll deinstall galaxy now for good and completely return to the gog downloader and a separate folder in my game menue.
