Moonbeam: Not everyone wants a refund.
avatar
SirPrimalform: Good thing this thread isn't called "GOG, Can You Force People To Take Refunds For Tinyybuild Games".
True, but I think that user wants GOG to keep their share rather than ask them to issue a refund(which would have to come from gog's pocket or at least store credit which gog would also have to foot the bill for).

I'm not sure what that adds to what I said. We've established that Moonbeam doesn't want a refund and we've also established that this thread isn't about forcing people to have a refund if they don't want. So... in Moonbeam's case GOG would indeed be keeping their share. Or are you saying Moonbeam doesn't want anyone to get a refund? I certainly don't read it that way.

I was just responding to both posts/in general.

I was also musing that if GOG issued refunds to all who bought such games it'd hurt GOG more than TinyBuild and as such I think people should only ask for one if they realllly need to.

It might just be worth it from a good will point of view, but I agree.

TinyBuild didn't exactly have a good reputation here anyway, but whatever they did have is currently burning down. Honestly, I hope they do the right thing and start treating their GOG customers right.

However if it comes to the point of TinyBuild leaving GOG I think offering refunds would benefit GOG from a PR perspective even if it's just store credit.

Again I think they should only offer them to those who want them for good reason(LIKE op), as otherwise even those who want to keep the games/have no issue will take advantage to get free credit.

For clarification, I support the mass (optional) refunds in the instance that the games are removed from sale on GOG. If the game is definitely never ever going to see any updates here then offering refunds is the way to go.

Even then i'd be against it unless someone bought the game and they removeed it from people's libraries. I think refunds should only be offered to those who ask otherwise many less moral people will ask for them just to get free games.

Of course it should only be to those who ask, that's pretty much the main point I've been making in these posts. And yes, having the game removed from your library would of course be part of the deal. I wasn't suggesting GOG just throw free money at people without them asking and leave the game in their libraries. :P

I never said o0r tried to say you said that or were trying to, I merely said gog shouldn't offer a blanket refund to anyone who bought such games or some would likely keep copies of the games and get store credit as well.

Anyone who has ever had a refund for any reason on GOG *might* have done that, but what's the use worrying about it? What do people have to do to qualify for a refund in your book?
I was never suggesting a blanket refund, just giving everyone the option.

The reasons i'd consider being valid for a refund are likely the same as yours.

As for giving everyone the option: I wouldn;'t do that as gog/officially because it'd open the floodgates and many would do it as gog had then(by legal/standards) made a contract and would have to honor it for all.

I'd like to point out that there is a precedent for this. There have been various times that outdated or unsupported games have been removed from GOG and GOG has offered refunds for those that want it. It's already happened before, I see no reason why it wouldn't happen again if Tinybuild's games were removed from sale.
