hedwards: I have to admit that I kind of chuckled about that ghost logo with boobs being designed by the guy that's in there as eye candy. But, there weren't any funny jokes in either of the trailers.

Breja: What made me chuckle about it was how Hemsworth said "I can make them bigger". There was just something about his delivery rather than the joke itself that made me crack a smile. Which is why I said it was so weird that the action hero/straight man Hemsworth was the only who managed to be slightly funny, while the supposed comedians fail utterly.
I think it was the sincerity with which he delivered the line: almost naive in his understanding of why they disliked the design.
I remember watching an interview of Bill Murray where he remarked that it was important to "play it straight" to be funny. Authentic character reactions to the scene. So far what I have seen in the trailers is a group of exaggerated caricatures as opposed to actual characters. Maybe the movie actually does a better job of it, but I have not seen it in the trailers yet.

Dug around in Steam's upcoming games to find this. I'm sure it'll be as good as the movie, take that how you want.

Crossing streams is definitely not recommended. Noone likes messy shoes (or pant legs).

For God's sake . What the fuck is this ?
Oh, that stay puff video is so funny, it makes watching that fecking awful trailer almost bearable to watch the end part.
Hollywood have had it's steady, but declining "creativity" for years now. Forget feminism and NWO! Movie bosses are like dinosaurs with a pee sized brain, claps to poor judgment, bodily fluids, and no progress (think "Idiocracy")

I know I'm being overly critical - but come on!

Is it so hard to make good and dark Ghostbusters movie that has a good chemistry between the actor, good science, some humour, and not have the movie leave an oozing/sliming trail of really bad taste in the intestines because of forced and cringeworthy humour and dialog?

Quality over quantity... so stay puft!

I think part of the problem is the way that they're doing the casting. They would have been better off selecting a group of actors that already has experience working together or casting by group.

One thing the original Star Wars trilogy did right was that the actors auditioned in groups and Lucas chose the group that did the best job. I'm sure there are actors that would have done better at one character or another, but I'm not sure they would have had the same chemistry.

In this case, they seem to have cared far more about what names they could put into the movie rather than whether the choices even made sense. Making it 4 women is just adding insult to injury. Not to mention the retconning that's gone on in the trailers.

Also, add in the fact that another of Melissa McCarthy's movies is opening soon (The Boss, I think) where she plays another annoying character with (more than likely) an insipid plot. I doubt she'll torpedo "Ghostbusters", but she won't help it any.

Edit: It opened last week and it doesn't appear to be going over well.

I'm not much familiar with either of the womens acting careers (although none of them seem to be real actresses) but I think you're right about that. Maybe it's just the sign of times we're in right now. I for one choose to believe that if they REALLY cared about the franchise they wouldn't turn it an all women-movie and with bad actors, and took the time to find actor that would be way more funnier and tougher, and also functioned better as a group. These look like barbiedolls with hightech equipment (that's how they were portrayed in the trailer). That's another bad move from (B)hollywood - making poor trailers.

There was also a rumor that Bill was stalling the whole development of the movie, being pompous and all. Don't exactly remember the details but he was so sure that the movie would suck that he would have nothing to do with it. (oh the irony)

I will say that although I'm trashing this movie right now chances are that I might see it anyway to satisfy my curious mind and judge it further.

I think they could have turned it into an all women affair without disrespecting the previous movies. They just chose not to.

I'll see it when it shows up on Netflix and probably won't be able to sit through it, but I'm not optimistic. It looks very much like a movie made for an agenda where the people making it didn't really understand what the source material.

Also, do we really need another black character whose only contribution to the affair is being "street"? Winston was at least a real person meant to be a sort of way in for the rest of us to relate to the goofiness going on.

rtcvb32: The 80's and 90's humor was much better in my opinion, not to mention the writing and movies in general.
YES!
While TV series are constantly improving, the cinema is constantly becoming worse. TV is better now, cinema was better back then.

Yeah that trailer...

The idea of an all female Ghostbusters movie is not a bad one, but this trailer... I hope it is not 100% indicative of the final product because this does not hit the notes it should. Shame since the talent involved can be funny.
