stonebro: Where's Dan Brown when you need him !?

Keph: The decrypted phrase is actually "3"
As in, number 3.
Took NSA supercomputers weeks of cpu time.

You sure it wasn't a number 14 times higher than that?
Well, there's no "EA", "B"lizzard or anything. None of the "S"s are capitalised, so probably not Sierra, let alone any other developer/publisher.
Someone send medics to gog? could be a brain fart.

There's a "/j" there for a reason.:) The "everything means EA" derives from the misguiding clues on The Countdown thread. Take it easy Wolfie.;)

iuliand: It begins wit a capital G. It must mean something...

Nine Inch Nails! That must mean Quake's coming, as NIN did the soundtrack to the original Quake!
Well, there is sort of a pattern there; formatted it would look like this:
G d f s g
s d f h g
s d f g h
s d g f h
(hope it looks alright here)
Ok, what the hell...? I leave the forum to it's own devices for 48 hours while I play Mass Effect 2, and I return to find that everyone has gone quite mad. GET A GRIP PEOPLE!!!

Which isn't impossible, Activision holds the rights to some Quake games according to the wiki.

Come off it. They were like this during my countdown thread too. It's nothing new.

id were independent up until signing to Zenimax. Meaning that no publisher, save for Zenimax, holds any of their IP.

Matchstickman: As proof of my deciphering type abilities they have removed the revealing letters as I posted this, Truth through randomness!

I'm not trying to knock your godlike deciphering mad l33t skillz, but I'm still seeing the letters ;-)

I know. But what you're not grasping here is that it doesn't automatically mean that they own the rights to the game. In this case, they clearly don't. Just as Atari don't own the Unreal games and EA don't own the Half Life games. id were independent.
And The Police would play: The Ghost in the Machine :-P

They may have the right to re-publish the games. :D
