timppu: Kids would also start to love their homework, and parents couldn't complain their children do homework too many hours per day plus the whole weekend. School tests for video gaming could be pretty easily arranged too, just put all the schoolchildren in a TeamFortress 2 match, and rate them by their scores.
Heh, TF2 tests might be a bit much, but I do think games could legitimately be used as supplementary material in order to increase student engagement. For example, playing The Last Express made me look up a ton of stuff about World War 1—an era I knew embarrassingly little about—and had I played it back when I was still in school, I suspect I could have absorbed much more on the topic because of that piqued interest. Same with something like Planescape and creative writing, something like LYNE and problem solving, and so on.dick1982

Civilization taught me how to rule the world. Now I just need to put it in practice... and go back to 4000BC to settle a city.

tomyam80: In conclusion, games can hv both gd benefits as well as bad influences 4 the young if left unchecked. I believe such games can still be played but only in moderation & with proper guidance or supervision by adults.
Adults can have a poor time supervising themselves, you know. Like for instance, the adult/father scum of the earth who punched his baby in the face, killing it, because it interrupted his game by crying for sustenance. Saying kids are the only audience susceptible to fault is misguided.

tomyam80: Yeah I know but I hv 2 say in general MOST adults r more likely 2 know distinguish wat is right fr wrong. Wat I meant is such adults u mentioned r the exception rather than the norm.
Yep, definitely not norm. Excuse me, while I go scream at the world some more. edit: to your post below this, yes it clarifies. I'm quite tired at the moment, as I just contracted a slight case of the flu. However, thanks to my apparent breast-feeding when I was a bub, it has just about left me after a day. I've also got to wake up in 10 hours to hit the uni library and source information for a 1500 word essay that I haven't started, but is due in 3 days. I know I'm spouting shit but yea, the point is I appreciate you being constructive with me.

Thanks for the link.
This kind of "look, somebody else did a stupid thing so I'm allowed to too" argument is the mainstay of kid culture. And some adults as well. :)
Gnostic: In the past I am told video games are bad because of studies, social life, health reason.
Now I am told video games are bad because of sexist, bigotry, discrimination, patriarch reason.
When did we come to the conclusion that video games are good?
We've always known that. Everything has bad aspects and good aspects, the difficult trick is judging them realistically and taking the road that's best all around. Now I am told video games are bad because of sexist, bigotry, discrimination, patriarch reason.
