Foxhack: Speaking of... Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena is $5 on D2D right now (3.96 after coupon). So, I want it. But... well... it doesn't say anything about activation, other than something called TAGES.

Is that... bad?
TAGES is what was used on The Witcher (at least, the NA release). Some people have a really miserable time with it.

On a side note, Atari promised to remove the DRM from Assault on Dark Athena some time ago. It still hasn't happened, to my knowledge, which is one of the reasons I'm always very skeptical of promises to remove protections from games 'down the road'.

Navagon: Tages is very bad. That much I agree with. But I haven't had anything like the problems with it that I've had with Starforce. When DRM stops you from being able to boot Windows there's nowhere lower for it to go.
True Starforce is the worst out there but thankfully hardly anyone uses it anymore. It's only popular with Eastern European publishers like 1C these days.

In fairness SEGA have removed Uniloc as promised with the patch to Alpha Protocol.

Which is partly why I want to see more of their (good) games on GOG. The quality of their output has improved dramatically over the past few years. Their boss man actually seems sane. So hopefully this will happen.

Delixe: TAGES is the worst of the worst to be honest. However in Riddicks case it refunds an activation each month. It's still fucking horrible but I have to say the game is worth all the hardship, it's two brilliant games in one for what $4 with the HOHOHO code? Buy it.
Well I won't be able to play it for a while anyway - I need a new video card. I actually have the original Butcher Bay game somewhere and played it for a while but put it in storage and forgot about it.

$4 ain't too bad. I don't think. :)

Atari said that? Well... maybe not anymore.

Considering you get to play Butcher Bay again but on the Dark Athena engine, no thats not much to pay at all.

Did they already? I know it's removed by the patch on the digital version from Gamersgate (which I bought), but wasn't aware it was the same case for the retail. That's very encouraging. I'll trust what SEGA says about DRM removal from this point onward, since they've made good on that promise at least twice that I'm aware of.

Yeah, it was before they revamped their forums. I doubt I'd be able to find the post anymore, but they did promise to remove TAGES. Not sure if I'm remembering correctly on the timeline, but I believe they said they'd do it a year to 18 months after release. Guess that goes to show how much you can trust Atari's promises.
Edit: Nevermind, need to learn to read the thread.

They have. The Steam version just had its DRM removed with an update patch last night! :D

Well, I think Atari blows chunks. :P

Oh, since someone bought something off me on eBay, I bought Velvet Assassin and Dark Athena. Wheeeeeeee.

You can buy MX vs ATV Reflex from D2D for $7.50 with the current promotion and the HOHOHO coupon and then activate through Steam.

Basically under $10 for a brand new very good AAA title (niche as it might be)
GamersGate's daily 1C deal is Fantasy Wars for $3.

Has StarForce, though.

£3.96 with the promo code RUDOLPH. I got Alpha a while ago and bar the dodgy AI the story and choices made up for it. Anyone tried AVP?.

If its the newer one. I got AvP on the last steam sale. So far I have finished the human campaign and I had a lot of fun with it. I played a bit of multiplayer and its quite fun too. Id say if you like the alien or predator movies get it. Id say its worth the small price.
