TAGES is what was used on The Witcher (at least, the NA release). Some people have a really miserable time with it.

On a side note, Atari promised to remove the DRM from Assault on Dark Athena some time ago. It still hasn't happened, to my knowledge, which is one of the reasons I'm always very skeptical of promises to remove protections from games 'down the road'.

True Starforce is the worst out there but thankfully hardly anyone uses it anymore. It's only popular with Eastern European publishers like 1C these days.
In fairness SEGA have removed Uniloc as promised with the patch to Alpha Protocol.

Which is partly why I want to see more of their (good) games on GOG. The quality of their output has improved dramatically over the past few years. Their boss man actually seems sane. So hopefully this will happen.

Did they already? I know it's removed by the patch on the digital version from Gamersgate (which I bought), but wasn't aware it was the same case for the retail. That's very encouraging. I'll trust what SEGA says about DRM removal from this point onward, since they've made good on that promise at least twice that I'm aware of.

Yeah, it was before they revamped their forums. I doubt I'd be able to find the post anymore, but they did promise to remove TAGES. Not sure if I'm remembering correctly on the timeline, but I believe they said they'd do it a year to 18 months after release. Guess that goes to show how much you can trust Atari's promises.

They have. The Steam version just had its DRM removed with an update patch last night! :D

If its the newer one. I got AvP on the last steam sale. So far I have finished the human campaign and I had a lot of fun with it. I played a bit of multiplayer and its quite fun too. Id say if you like the alien or predator movies get it. Id say its worth the small price.
