bansama: Not at all. I just won't blindly accept what companies state when they have a track record to the contrary. Unless you can provide undeniable proof that Impulse *do* work towards getting currently restricted games released worldwide, then there is no reason the believe them when they say that they try.

I kinda have to agree with Bansama here. I'm sure Stardock would love to sell to everyone but at the moment they are still a little fish in the DD business so they are concentrating on their home territory the US. I am sure once they have started to increase their revenue they will branch out into other territories as they will have more clout with the publishers but as it stands at the moment the only DD outlet with that power over publishers is Steam and they seem to be willing to allow publishers to dictate price and availability as they have no real competition.
At the moment it's not difficult to see a pattern with all DD services. The US gets a great service and some amazing prices. The UK is next on the list and sometimes gets competitive prices but all too often its the US that gets them cheaper. After that the rest of the world can go jump off a cliff. I cant be the only person who can find retail copies up to €20 cheaper than they are on Steam or Impulse. Steam want €49.99 for Arkham Asylum while my local Xtravision was selling it for €32.99. This is because retailers can dictate prices to the publisher while services like Impulse cannot. Steam choose not to.
I disagree with everyone.
GOG is 1 year old and they sell world wide.
Fuck other DD services, GOG is bad ass.

Do they sell games....in...fuck, can't think of a country......in Johnathanland*?!
*+1 for those who get this. =)

This is a logical situation designed to be denied. Of course I cannot provide "undeniable proof" of these attempts, because said proof is protected by NDAs. If you want phone logs, email records, and other sensitive documents, feel free to harass Brad Wardell or dig through their dumpster for shredded letters.

melchiz: *snip*

Or in other words, they aren't making any progress as you can't even provide evidence of a game that started out as being regionally restricted and which is no longer restricted. That's proof enough that they *aren't* trying hard enough. Thanks for playing though.

Yeah, but they're old/oldish titles. And it takes forever to get big releases. :(
I'd definitely rather wait, of course.

I don't follow. One cannot prove effort. Success is not an indication of effort.

Yes it is, actually, unless of course you're admitting now that their claims of "we try to get worldwide releases for all games" isn't actually a sign of them doing any such thing.
But hey, if you want to believe them, go ahead. I won't be that foolish however.

Wrong again. I have succeeded at many things toward which I have applied little or no effort. Conversely, I have failed after applying great effort.
Stardock is working hard to expand their store to the international community. We may or may not see the fruit of this effort, but that result in no way indicates the level of effort applied to achieve it.

You are not a business. There is a huge difference between personal success -- which certainly can require little to no effort and business success which is known to require effort (such as working to get games released cross regions).

And until they actually show results, I'm still calling bull shit on this claim of theirs, especially when services such as Steam, GamersGate and even GOG have all shown this effort already.
In case it's been missed, there's a huge JoWooD sale on GamersGate now -- basically, instead of 1 game a day, they've just put the whole catalogue up at 30% off. Most of it is detailed on Didimatic, with a few exceptions:
http://www.gamersgate.com/DD-BLMI/black-mirror
http://www.gamersgate.com/DD-NEXTL/next-life
http://www.gamersgate.com/DD-NEVEREND/neverend
http://www.gamersgate.com/DD-CRST/crime-stories
http://www.gamersgate.com/DD-BESI/besieger
These are not listed as I cannot view the store pages for those items, if someone else can, the US price and UK price would be appreciated.
The same for the two flavours of Dragon Age (US pricing displays as "Not priced" for me).
http://www.direct2drive.com/staticpage.aspx?topic=halloween
d2d has some nice game offers which are even available wordwide, e.g. Stubbs the Zombie, the path or downfall for 5$ each.
for the gamersgate sale be careful a lot of this games or a lot cheaper available @ bigfishgames, e.g. aura1,2 , agatha cristie games
