bazilisek: Well, it's time to finally find out what everyone was raving about. Vice City looks the most alluring of the bunch to me.
3 is still my favourite, though 4 might be when I finally get some real time with it.

angstrom: Are they seriously selling GTA 1 and 2 on Steam? Aren't those games free on the Rockstar website?
Nah, you still can't buy GTA 1 and/or GTA 2 by itself. It's more like 'buy GTA 3+VC+SA and you can download these free games from Steam servers.'
Supreme Commander 2 is Steam's weekend deal at 66% discount ($5.10)

I <3 Steam.
Steam:
BIT.TRIP BEAT $8.99, 10% off

Supreme Commander 2 $5.10, 66% off. Its DLC also 66% off, $3.40

Frontiers Pack $12.49, 50% off

GG:
Flotilla $3.99, and a few others that were better discounted before.

Impulse:
meh

bansama: At a guess, I'd say that Steam's weekend deal is Grand Theft Auto related. Seems all but 4 (and its expansions) are 75% off. Regional restrictions apply of course...
Still restricted here.

Dragon Age ultimate edition is restricted too. :(

compatibility issues

angstrom: What compatibility issues?
My son and I run Railroads all the time on Vista 64 and 32 boxes with no issues. In fact I bought all those titles during D2D's big sale and they all run fine for me.

Hey, can you guys back in the States tell me what Steam is trying to hit you up for Tommy Tronic?

My cellphone said $5 when I was at work today but my desktop, this evening, says $10.

angstrom: What compatibility issues?
I think the compatibility issues were with disc copy protection rather than the game itself. That said, the game typically crashes to Desktop on Win 7 64-bit after about an hour of play (granted, this is on an AMD Athlon 64 machine with an AGP DirectX 10 card, so it might just be the machine)

However, I did notice that Civ3 doesn't work with win7-64 very well. The dialog boxes and text are too large or too small, and are not in appropriate positions. I have not tried it in XP compatibility mode.

Hmm, the product page for Civ3c says NOT for W7, so good luck if you have it.
As for Pirates and Railroads - neither mention Vista, either, so you're on your own with those. I think the only certainly Windows 7 compatible title was Civ 4, and that is only by virtue of being compatible with Vista.

Individual prices are:
Civ 3 Complete - $5
Pirates - $10
Railroads - $10
Civ 4 Complete - $40 (this seems high, I've seen it for $10 and $20 would be a reasonable non-sale price). The bundle itself only knocks $5 off the combined base prices.

I (personally) think for this group of games, $20 or $25 would've been more reasonable, especially since gamers are migrating from XP to 7 now.

casual game recommendation
