CowboyBebop: Magic the Gathering 2012 + Deck Pack 1 + Expansion for $7.17 on Steam. Is it worth it? It's 60% off now but could I expect it to be even cheaper during the Christmas sale?

GoJays2025: If you can live without playing it for a month then might as well wait and see. The deals are usually better during the Christmas sale though.
I don't mind waiting a bit longer to get it cheaper so I'll just wait. I loved playing the card game but it has been years since I played it. One thing I've heard about this game that I don't like is that you can't build your own deck :(

I played the game in history class when the teacher didn't give us any work. I loved building my deck from scratch and coming up with strategies for it. I didn't go out and buy cards all the time and I didn't have more than 1 deck, but I really put some time and effort into it. How much can you customize the decks? Can you exchange the cards (add new ones or take some away)?

All decks have a standard 60-card version. By defeating opponents in campaign mode you can unlock additional cards (16 cards for each deck, I believe). When you do so, you can customize your deck by adding those cards to the deck or by removing some of the existing cards to make room for the new ones. The expansion adds a few extra unlockable cards to the base game as well as some new decks.

I guess the limited customization is necessary in order to have working AI opponents. In Magic the complexity of the game seems to increase exponentially with the number of cards available, so the mechanics would probably become unmanageably complicated if they included a full set of cards to choose from.

There's an update (free) and an expansion pack (not free) coming out soon too. Can't wait to see what's in the expansion pack!

Oh, and the update adds mod support!

And a redhead. Don't forget the redhead.

Thankfully she's not dressed in chainmail, but something tells me there'll be an achievement for that.

I purchased the base game -75% on steam.

Try just that and see if you like it first. This version of MTG is an acquired taste - and the expansion doesn't add much unless you really like the game. But if you multiplayer a lot you might want it. They made it so people who own it will still play people without it in MP, and the EXP adds insanely powerful cards to each deck.

I can't remember, is she in the update or only in the expansion pack?

Anyway, I'm seriously in love with the developers of this game. I got it on Steam originally because it doesn't use the DRM at all (yay) and the developers were so kind that they gave me a Desura copy after it came out there.
Eschalon Book I and II are the must buy on Steam.

GameRager: I wanna get Borderlands DLC for my copy of the game on Steam but the current 33% isn't bite-worthy enough for me(still 7ish bucks apiece). Will they possibly have a further discount in future soon or is that the best they have to offer usually for those DLC?

orcishgamer: You can get Borderlands GOTY for 10 bucks on Amazon sales, just watch it and grab the whole thing when it goes on sale again.
Thanks but I got the base game for 4-5 bucks in a pack deal with some others here and it has Steam "cheevos" which are sometimes meh but I wanna get em and the possible DLC ones all together on one client.
As an aside Overlord Complete Pack(1, Raising Hell Expansion, and 2) are 10 bucks on Steam.

And after buying the raising hell expansion for my Overlord 360 copy(and losing it during a HDD space corruption on the 360 drive & then it being somehow off my owned list for re-download on the live menus.) for 10 bucks alone I feel this is a HELLUVA(heh) deal.

I doubt she'll be expansion only. That'd be a dick move.

Wait, what? They were $5 earlier in the week.

It's still not a bad price regardless for two games and an expansion.
