Erniecz: GamersGate Facebook:

Hey everyone, there was a typo in the Oddboxx bundle competition. "One of" fell out and it was supposed to be one of those who guessed it correctly that will win the game. But since there was so many of you doing the guessing we will be giving away 10 copies! Sorry about the typo, and feel free to keep your guesses coming in the post further down on the competition post on this wall!

nmillar: Thanks to everyone who took part in the competition. Oddboxx is on sale at 50% so check it out! Okay? :) To make up, here is a discount code that gives an extra 25% off the already low price: "ODDBOXX25". Enter it at checkout when buying The Oddboxx within 24 hrs!
What a crock of shit. This has "planned" written all over it. My guess, they "SCREWED UP" intentionally, knowing it would bring publicity to them (which it did), and personally I find it quite underhanded... I know this could be a "typo" but I have heard this excuse several times before in very similar situations.

GamersGate do make a lot of typos. English is NOT their first language after all. Make of that what you want.

There were several indications that this is a re-nig job through and through. It wasn't 'one' typo post, there were atleast two or three that supported the fact that they originally planned to give copies to everyone, only to change their mind and give out "promo" codes as well...
So what´s your problem with getting the OddBox for $9.36?

My problem is with the bait and switch, then the lying about it. The 9.39 is a steal, but it is still an underhanded tactic.

How dare they!

Probably, but I think everyone's overreacting to this. Maybe it's a genuine mistake, maybe it's just a cheap shot at getting some attention. So, they might have lied, who knows, but whatever the case, I still...honestly don't see what there is to get upset about.

Yeah, I can understand what you are saying, but where I am coming from it that they had 2 or so posts (now deleted) that supported the fact that it wasn't just a "typo". They did this intentionally to gain attention. They never planned to live up to what they said, and I just find it kind of underhanded.

Yeah but what can you do about it? Let's just move on eh?

Well you can believe what you want, but I've known that company fairly well for a long time. And purposefully misleading people is not something they do.
I didn't think they were going to give it to everyone who answered correctly, I got the impression that they were going to give one copy to one of the people who answered correctly. Nothing more. Some people may have decided to interpret GG's vagueness to benefit themselves but I'm not ok with the "They lied to us, get the pitchforks!" thing.

So, you did not follow on Gamersgate at Facebook, but only joined them there to comment for the free game? If yes and you got upset over it, LOL.
Big freaking deal! People who joined just to take part in this, got exactly what they should out of it lol.

What I am trying to say is, relax, it's not a big deal!
I don't know. For normal English language their original statement seems pretty unambiguous to me and doesn't give me the idea it was only meant to be one.

If unintended, hey it happens.

If intended however then i think people have every right to complain and some of you putting those people down because they complain about something *you* consider to be fine are being over the top imo. Assuming they intended it it's a crappy move. Pure and simple.

I actually have a GamersGate account, and did have them liked through Facebook. I unliked them after this happened. I may have went a bit overboard in my rants, but it is frustrating that they are lying about it. That is why I got as frustrated. I even understand the reasons behind lying about it, but it could have been handled better. If it was one post and one typo, it would have been considered a mistake by me, but it was atleast 3 posts over the course of probably 5 hours that continued to support their "intent" on giving out copies to everyone that responded, not just "one" of. Now if they would have said it was an in-house miscommunication, and it was posted wrong on multiple occasions, that is different than just saying the initial post was a typo and deleting the remaining posts that supported the typo.

Anyway, to try to pull the topic back on track (which I had a big hand in derailing)

The way I understood was that everyone gets one but I knew it was impossible. They had several hundred people contesting for it - even if they had a enough keys, that's too much $ for them to let slip away.
