carnival73: The thing about GG and D2D is that they're not tied to client and at the end of the day, you could probably find a hack online to break free of the dial-home-to-GG for installation thing.

D2D gives you the whole game and you're just commited to the publishers' DRM.
I think for him, same as for me, it's not an issue of DRM. In fact, having all the games in a nice list, ready to right-click and say 'install' is a bonus to me, rather than having to look for the file or redownload it from the site to install the game again from GG or Gog for instance. Plus not having to bother to add it to a list every time you install it.

It may seem small but for me, I tend to forget/not bother to install games I have with other services, simply because the first thing I'll do is skim through my list of Steam games to see what tickles my fancy and install that. And more often than not, that is already enough.

I'll even go so far as to say that if Steam were offering the *exact* same games as Gog, I'd get them on Steam instead. I don't see that happening though, at least not the improved compatibility/extra's, unless publishers start taking the effort.

Can anyone tell if GamersGate's Jagged Alliance works as well as GOG's should?

Of course. You need to set up Dosbox properly, though.

It runs through Doxbox? Then, is GOG's version already fully set up?

Afaik, yes.
Hold on a sec...so that means the Gamersgate version of JA1 isn't DOSBox-wrapped?

Then I might as well wait for a sale on GOG. In absolute terms, the price won't make too much of a difference, and that's one less annoyance.

My backlog also just told me not to hurry.
Dont know anyone post this:

Interesting - wonder if Steam is displaying for me in NZD prices now?

Nope, not NZD prices.

That's very odd.

I don't have the money for it anyway. Still trying to bum $4 from me girly for Might & Magic VII.

Perhaps Sega is screwing over that region?

Anyway... EA has DA:O Ultimate Edition for $20

Not too bad, but I still refuse to re-buy a game because they can't package just the DLC in a decent, convenient deal. Kinda childish of me, I know,, but still, I call BS on that marketing strategy...

EDIT: For clarification, I already own first the DLC that came with Origins and both Origins and Awakening, and I pay full price for Origins, and got awakening for about half off when it game out, and now to thank me for my purchases, they sell the game to everyone else (plus DLC I don't have, for $20). Hell I payed more for Awakening when it came out. Again...BS....
