CharlesGrey: Heavy Rain -- Saw ( At least some parts of it, plus it's a very cinematic game, in general. )
bad_fur_day1: Never got around to that, but if there's any Saw in it, onto my wishlist it goes.
Not in the sense that there's a lot of torture porn involving ridiculous contraptions, but the same basic plot and atmosphere is there. I don't want to reveal too much, to those who haven't played it, but basically a serial killer kidnapped the son of the main character, and in order to save him you have to complete certain tasks and challenges for the killer, usually hurting yourself in the process ( or sometimes others ). In one scene you have to cut off one of your character's fingers. Overall some of these scenes felt more disturbing and convincing than the later SAW films, which went a little over the top for my tastes. The killer also placed video cameras etc. at the locations, so again, like the films.
As far as cinematic gaming experiences go, with great story-telling ( and branching storylines/ multiple endings ) and memorable characters, Heavy Rain is still one of the best in this genre.
bad_fur_day1: I also got a major The Matrix vibe off Mirror's Edge even though it's seemingly quite different on the surface. Captures Trinity running away from agents to a tee. Infact I had to pick up a gun and start shooting dudes pretty regularly.
Can definitely see what you mean. The main character, opponents, setting, gameplay/movement... ( Although you can theoretically complete the game without using any weapons. )
