Definitely worth watching.
Well i have neither read the books nor watched the show... But my GF has, and she told me some interesting things.

1) All the characters are douches; Also the least annoying/douchy get killed off until there's only the most annoying ones.

2) Although there's sexual tension, the younger characters in the books were like 12, not 16+. (However to avoid probably legal issues or seemingly pedophile issues they aged like 5-6 years each)

3) A larger emphasis on sex/nudity in the show vs the books (which was mostly hinted at), [s]as well as homosexual interactions that weren't in the books (for whatever reason)[/s]

4) It doesn't turn out well at the end. Expect to be disappointed. Per book there were like 3 or more main characters who die, or something like that.

I'll run the list by my GF and fix/append to this when she's around. Overall i'd say no it isn't worth watching, about as much as Duck Dynasty.

edit: Seems there was some homosexual stuff in book 3 and on, and more than 3 per book. So...

Yeah I've read the first book. It was really weird. Especially one scene being willing sex in the book and rape in the series.
Age differences are understandable in a way.

I think my GF lost interest in the show after the first season (or was it like 5 episodes?) where it just didn't seem to grab at her like the books did...

Kinda reminds me wondering why she liked an anime called Freezing, since when i watched it it was very much inner political bullshit, and couldn't understand why she liked it, which extends to Game of Thrones...

I watched GOT 3 seperate times. Each time I got bored in the second season. So I just bought the books. :P
Freezing gets better later on. It's quite boring at the start. (referring to Freezing manga, have not watched the anime)

Game of Thrones is the most overrated series ever! It isn't bad (I like the books but stopped watching the series when they decided to add nudity and random lesbian sex scenes every 5 minutes), but it isn't worth the hype. The most interesting thing about the series is the marketing:

- build up a hype
- release the hyped show in the US
- wait almost half a year before you release it in the rest of the world
- watch how everyone goes crazy when it finally airs

I guess that's what made Game of Thrones really popular.

Well the anime is what i watched. The first 8-9 episodes was junk, then a Prom, then finally there's like 3 episodes of actual plot. Doesn't make a lick of sense.

Going to have to watch season 2: Freezing Vibrations. Had to download it because on NetFlix where my GF was watching it, they censored it so there's large white blurrs to hide nipples and panty shots, unlike season 1... Which would be highly distracting, about as much as someone sitting in your living room and shining a flashlight directly into your eyes the moment someone began to show some skin.

So far the most i've enjoyed for manga/anime was FMA; Shortly after I learned the brotherhood anime followed the original manga perfectly... It was missing 2 episodes that they didn't really need to remake from the original series and you could re-watch with no real alteration.

People still wait to watch things on tv?

No clue. nothing's ever good on TV so there's no reason to have it.

I disagree, there are good things on tv, the issue is they're mostly years old and constantly interrupted by commercials.
TV channels also seem to like rebroadcasting episodes for a series instead of actually letting you watch new episodes.

Which is basically what i said. I'd prefer stuff that was good. MASH, Fraggle rock, Next generation, etc. But those aren't on, instead they put really crappy stuff on every single station and channel like Spongebob Squarepants, Ed Edd and Eddie, and other things. Reminds me of what G4 USED to be when i enjoyed it back in 2000 before they made it an all gaming channel, namely talking about Tech, new tech, fixing stuff, what to get and not to get, reviewing hardware and software, DO-IT-YOURSELF type of stuff, etc.

Plus quite a few good things have to be taken with a grain of salt, or rather a block of salt. I enjoy MythBusters for example, and most of their material is probably unaltered. However there are hints and obvious references that things were changed to keep things livened up, and more importantly if they discovered something that would really change something (like say finding out the proper way to make a self-charging battery for free energy) it would have to be cut or highly altered so the results don't suggest we can get free energy and skip paying the power plant. That and everything needs to be blown up afterwards with C4 afterwards seemingly. Yeah for their 30 hours they put into it, having a few 5 minutes of blowing things up is probably deserved, but we seeing it every 20 minutes quickly gets annoying.

All in all, there isn't enough that's truly interesting or useful to me to justify the $80-$200/month bill that DirectTV/Dish Network want to shove on me for getting the discovery channel and a few other select stations. Plus i watched very closely and there's a few hints that even shows that might have interested me are all scripted and fake, meaning Discovery isn't about learning but entertainment. If they threw in the Playboy channel for free, then maybe i'd have something to watch that i was interested in.

There is no end yet because the author did not finished the saga.
timppu, give it a few more episodes. I also didn't get what all the fuss was about in the beginning but my friend insisted that I should keep watching it and I'm very thankful he did. The series only gets better.

As true as that may be, when he/she is killing off 3+ main characters per book, how long before you either have one really big asshole who gets assassinated or no cast left? It's predestined to end badly with the formula in place that somehow people love. But i'm not sure what they love about it. The heavy nudity goes for males to a degree, yes but i haven't a clue how that's better than porn.

Yes, some people still resist to download stuff illegally and to join the "GIMME NAOW 4 FREE, BIATCH" movement. I've never pirated anything and I won't start it for some unimportant TV show.
