Can anyone shed a light on something for me?

How is it that 24/7 (on the Internet) people make fun of Bill O'Reilly and he's treated as an absolute joke anywhere you look, yet when I visited bookstores in the U.S. his books were always among the bestsellers?

I mean, who's buying these books and giving them positive reviews? At first I honestly thought they were different people who shared the same name, because there was no way that discredited Fox News loonie was an established history author.

It's quite simple when you know the basics of herd mentality. The catch is, people like O'Relly have a very polarizing personality (or, rather, persona). To others, this manifests in a more dramatic love/hate perception, ant that which I love I support, financially for instance. And (and this is the good part) because people also hate him, they openly denounce him, while his supporters loudly support him, which brings in more curious onlookers and so on.
lol the word FOX should explain a lot about their doings and characteristic and one cannot corner them for misleading since they admitted being a fox

Tallima: I was just talking to a friend who lives 1/2 here and 1/2 in Turkey and he was telling me about how the Kurds were bombing Turkey and the US permitted Turkey only 48 hours to respond or "consequences" would be had. We didn't hear anything about it here, but Turkey news was going nuts. To me, that's important.

Engerek01: When did this happen? There is no sign of this news in any news channel or newspaper.

In Turkey news channels dont give news, they only give magazine. If a football team transfers a player it is 1 hour news but 20 people die but you wont hear it from anywhere. Thats why we are organized in Facebook, cos thats the only way of getting news nowadays. There is also Twitter. Thats why Turkish goverment bans Facebook, twitter and youtube periodically to avoid news getting out. Like when President's bodyguards killed 3 people just because they said "booo" . No channel gave this news so we put the videos on youtube. And bam! youtube, FB and twitter were banned for 3 months. I hope you get the point.
Must be really tough, a modern secular state being thrown back to medieval age by this douchebag erdogan. He supports ISIS as far as I know also and is bombing the only ones that are fighting them. This is crazy. An that cunt Merkel is even supporting him with weapons. Godammit.

It seems that like with the big depression 1929 we have an major decline of democracy all over europe and other states. Sounds fun.

Simple answer: the people online are not the people who buy his books. He has a huge audience of older people who've never posted an online comment in their lives.

Engerek01: This news is backwords. First, Turkey is not bombing Kurds, We are bombing PKK, a terorrist organization that killed 2 thousand (2000) people in Turkey only in the last 2 years which in total of 50 thousand people in 30 years. There were some kind of peace negotiations going on however PKK didnt respect this and killed 2 thousand people. Turkish goverment was late as usual. PKK terorists are trained in Kandil, they attack and then retreat back to Iraq. Thats why our Air forces bombed Kandil. Its very important to state that PKK are not Kurds. They claim they represent Kurds but in reality they are a mixed organization which holds the drug trade routes in middle east and europe.
Depending on which news you read the entire ISIS / ISIL thing is just twisted.
The news does not do the actual facts any justice. Not that I am saying the actual facts are easy to gather, and whilst I do not believe that ISIS are a good thing - I struggle to justify the actions any sort of extremist activity - I can see why Turkey is not happy to fight side by side with the PKK Kurds. I also do not get why they agree to help the West with this, surly they do not want to join the sinking Eurozone that much.

It made me laugh to read an article (BBC I think) which said how the American, Israel, EU and UK governments were thankful to see Turkey stepping in to help their "Allied" Kurds fighting against ISIS. It mentioned in a single, almost irrelevant line that the Turkish government had only agreed if they could bomb PKK and ISIS positions. Therefore making their "assistance" far less reliably focused on the Western supposed "issue" of ISIS. Quite frankly they appear more of a threat to our interests. Yet still we are all apparently so happy to have the Turks on board.
As I understand the situation it appears a mess. ISIS, Kurds(, Obama) and Turkey all Muslim, to one extent or another. All of this is one screwed up triangle of future problems if you ask me.

- The West is supplying Kurds (once such a big terrorist problem that we allowed Sadam Hussain to gas them) with weapons to fight ISIS.
- PKK Kurds have killed thousands of civilians in Turkey. They buy and sell useful commodities such as drugs, weapons and resources to sell to countries such as Iraqi.
- PKK and ISIS have geological issues.
- ISIS sell and buy useful commodities such as drugs, weapons and resources to countries including....
- Turkey, fighting on the side of the West.
Please correct me if I am wrong, but I see a big, big ball of future issues.

Tallima: FOX leans right. CNN leans left. MSNBC leans really left. Bill Mayer leans far enough left that I'm surprised he hasn't somehow crossed to the right in some weird circular non-Euclidian political spectrum.
As far as I understand, what you call "the left" is considered to be on the "right" in other countries. I think that the USA is so right-leaning that has a different idea of where the "centre" is.
Of course, US citizens may have converse thoughts regarding other countries. But my point is that "the left" has a much larger spectrum than you are used to consider, outside of cartoonish ideas.
OMG the kiss at the end! I'm dying!!!!
Interesting, although that video is a bit old. That happened back in 2012...

You are right about the sliding spectrum. Most right-leaning Americans see most of Europe of very left-leaning.

I value freedom and I'll make my vote count for that and I pay attention to news that threatens it. And just about every day, I see news threatening my or someone else's freedom -- usually in the pursuit of money or security.

America is steadily moving left, so we'll join you guys soon enough, for better or worse.
I had a double root canal today and the whole time I was forced to watch Fox News.

Life can be very very cruel.

It also appears to me that many people are also afraid of change. They fight for their traditional values to the point where they try to force them to others. How do you feel about a third party? Why don't you have any? Was Ross Perot a fluke?

Well, with Trump still holding steady, I am enjoying the show. I just wish John Stewart was still on.

And Europe is steadily moving right. Lets hope they stop when they reach the middle...

Tallima: I watch and read FOX News (as well as others). FOX is often misleading with headlines and occasionally its articles smell of bad facts. But I made the switch from CNN to FOX ages ago when CNN simply was not reporting what I considered to be important news. FOX was.
Another word for "bad facts" is PROPAGANDA

Fuck, anyone can enjoy the show with that guy, give him a mic and maybe the UN (another joke) may allow him to talk about immigration and ethics along with the higher ups of Saudi Arabia XD

Am I the only one who gets all of his news from The Onion?
