a4plz: Newbie error I guess. I'm just worried I might be missing something. Wouldn't it be better if the special townies identified themselves so we could put them to work immediately? Somebody's going to die tonight so we might as well start investigating.
Who is going to be investigating anything at this point?
-The doctor doesn't investigate, he tries to prevent NK's (night kills, scum's single night action).
-The coroner has no dead bodies to investigate (yet; we'll likely have one for him before N1 (night 1)).
-The third PR might not have any sort of investigation at all. Maybe their night action is to send fruit to another player. Maybe they are lynch proof (a passive ability). Maybe they send out flying monkeys to steal a dog from another thread.
The problem with outing any/all of the town PR's right now is that it means Scum know exactly who to kill in order to win, and we have basically no chance of stopping them. We'd effectively be on a timer, and we'd have to lynch scum every single day in order to win before they kill us. As long as the scum don't know who they need to kill to win, they may target townies that don't advance their win condition.
Bookwyrm627: When someone gets to L-1, should they claim?
drealmer7: Is there anything that comes to your mind that makes you think it might actually be a bad idea to claim at L-1? I don't even see why we'd consider not claiming at L-1, but, I'm open to hearing reasons why possibly not to.
My initial thought upon hearing the questions is, yes, L-1 should claim just like normal. Even if we don't get a full flip to confirm their claim if they get lynched, it will give us more than nothing to start to form a picture on, plus I think that will help a coroner decide whether to use their power on a target or not.
If a PR claims, they're very likely to die that night, especially if it is the doctor. Also, scum may try to save themself from a lynch by claiming a PR because town really doesn't want to kill PR's. Assuming we get nothing from any flip, then no claims would keep scum from knowing their win progress.
Of course, it also means town may have jack-all for analysis.
Like I said, giving town three lives has made me re-check many of my normal assumptions. For example: does scum auto-win if it comes down to the town doctor, town coroner, a town vanilla, and 3 scum? Seems like the answer would be "yes", since town can't lynch scum at that point, but scum can still NK town.
Bookwyrm627: The interesting part of the game may well be that neither side knows how close they are to winning. Sadly, scum will know how close WE are to winning, though we won't know how close they are.
drealmer7: This makes my head hurt and kind of looks like a scum-slip to me. *takes note*
I'm curious how that looks like a slip. To me, it looks like simple logic.
Assume no flips and no claims.
-Neither town nor scum know when a town PR has died.
-Town doesn't know when scum have died, though scum know when scum die.
