Don't you think that people signing for mafia game should provide e-mail address? That way they can be contacted even when they stop coming here and can at least confirm they won't continue or maybe it will remind them to return.

very good idea.

Mafia 11 has died again. Don't even think Damnation is around much any more...;o(

I am, just very busy with my last exam ;) Made a prod to the people who needed one, hopefully that'll bring some people around again. If not, I will strike them down with vengeance and fury! Oh, and a votecount will be posted in a few minutes
who's tasked with hosting mafia #13?
I have a MOST TANTALISING scenario in my mind

but that is pretty much my constant state of being so I can wait if preferred.

I'd imagine :)

I think that our mafia playing community needs to take a breather. And think long and hard about what went wrong, because the current situation is just ridiculous.

#11 has been going for almost five months.

(I have a delicious setup in my head myself, but I really don't want to waste it.)

It looks to me like the simple games are working better. Yes #12 has had disagreeable moments but I'ld like to put that down to bad ju-ju.

Is the logic in taking a breather that it's easier to discuss mechanics freely when there are no games in process?

That, and I think we're burned out a bit. I know I am.

That, and nobody seems particularly motivated to play at the moment.

It's scary, but when I was killed in #11 a week ago, my first emotion was relief.

I think we should definitely take a break over the summer. I imagine starting again in september would be a good idea.

Although most of the problem is everyone being rubbish and lazy (myself included), I think the mods need to be a lot more brutal with the deadlines. Lack of activity kills motivation, which obviously prevents activity. I think if game-days weren't allowed to drag on for so long people wouldn't remain more active.
Oh how sad.

But how do you motivate and restoke an internet community? Is it with paint images?

We should get GOG to sponsor our mafia games with prizes, then people would play. :P

Joe you should send them that picture though, maybe they'll put it up on that changing banner display on the front page.

They said that it will cause too much internet traffic because of people stopping on that page to look at the picture, and their servers won't be able to handle it

I am. Most of the time. :-)

Being rubbish is not problem. It doesn't mean we can't play the game. Au contaire, it should make games more accessible for new players. :-)
Being lazy is a bit bigger problem but I am lazy as hell and still able to play.
Although it saddens me, I agree we should probably take break because people could use some rest.

Mods should adjust deadlines to players. If they are quiet or going nowhere just put deadline only few days in the future. It may lead to hasty decisions but hopefully players will will take lesson. If deadline is set somewhere in the distant future it stir a burst of activity but it will die soon and the game will die again until deadline is very soon.

I have been thinking about it before but I am not sure it would end well.

I'm fairly motivated to play, as long as the game is active. It's when the game dies that I sorta...lose interest.

As far as deadlines...I agree to the need, and the idea of flexable deadlines is nice...don't want to touch too much on stuff since I'm still in game...but yeah...
