Hunter65536: @trent So what do we do now?
trentonlf: We continue to try and find the scum. What are your thoughts on everything that's ongoing?
@cristi You said it would be a mistake to lynch Bookwyrm because you think he's a cop, I'm assuming you meant town cop as he claimed, so who do you suspect and why?
For the following, I am assuming bookwyrm is a town cop. Additionally, I assume if we have a back-up surgeon, we also have a surgeon.
When JMich flipped Posion-Immune I was suspicious of Hunter. Poison mentioned both in the flip and CSPVG's night report seemed too much for a coincidence. I thought it likely CSPVG was sane and Hunter was a poisoner. Then flubb mentioned that perhaps CSPVG's investigations are all town and all of Bookwyrm's are mafia. If that is true, it means we have two useless (and a negative utility until discovered) cops. But it got me thinking, in the sign-up thread, bler said "
There is a way for town to at least potentially “break the game,” however that’s perhaps not incidental, and at least in theory scum have some knowledge or other counters to prepare for that eventuality."
So town has a way to potentially break the game. If CSPVG and Bookwyrm are both useless/negative utility, we certainly can't break the game with that. However, if they are both insane and we figure that out, the surgeon (or other protective role) can protect them and potentially break the game. In order for this to work, we would have to determine they are insane first. By that point, several players are likely already dead and likely including one or more of the roles mentioned. I also believe that the cops picking from random numbers for their investigations helps balance this. They cannot simply choose who they want to investigate, that helps prevent a good cop from being too powerful.
If we have a way to break the game, I simply don't buy that we have two useless cops and some type of inept surgeon and his backup. How do you break a game with that? We've got to have at least some useful assets that somehow play together for town's benefit. If two cops, a surgeon and backup surgeon don't play into the "break the game" mix, we've got to have some mighty assets remaining.
@trent - I never actually got to your question. The dog is waiting for his walk, I'll get to that next.
Also, I haven't had a chance to think about how the most recent posts (since bler's last deadline) affect this
