adaliabooks: .....<snip>..........

and if it doesn't give us any info about who is town or scum then it definitely hands all the useful role info to scum on a plate.
avatar
flubbucket: Not likely we'll get alignment information as you well know. Allowing scum to choose their NK targets benefits town NOT AT ALL!!!
Well clearly scum aren't going to straight up claim mafia, but you can sometimes tell which roles are fake claims (*cough*PGO*cough*) but again it really depends on the kind of game we're looking at. We've already got a Self Help Guru, so it looks like it's not straight off the mafiascum wiki, in which case scum could practically claim whatever the hell they wanted and we'd be none the wiser...
avatar
HypersomniacLive: Interesting point about the avatar. Since it's not possible to check now (the pics in quoted posts are extremely small), and I don't remember what he did in the past, do you remember what the case was when he was scum?
avatar
adaliabooks: Looking back, last game he was scum was CSPVG's gameshow one and his avatar was a fairly generic silhouette of a man looking at a computer, he was a Mafia Goon, so it didn't seem to pertain much to his role or alignment at all...

avatar
mchack: That's the quote I wanted to refer to in my last post
avatar
adaliabooks: I'm not sure how this equates to flub saying he hasn't got a town power role... At worst it's a misunderstanding of agent's role modifier (and I have to say I can only guess what it means myself based on the discussion yesterday), which isn't particularly damning...
To be honest, I'm struggling to see what you mean here...

As for a mass claim, it depends on what kind of game we've got as to how useful it is. While I do find a mass claim is usually beneficial to town, it's also not much fun, and if it doesn't give us any info about who is town or scum then it definitely hands all the useful role info to scum on a plate.
Well I think the town roles pretty much know each other and are known by scum by now, so it would help in that some claims are more believable than others and by getting the a few non-powerrole townies on board we could probably control the lynch and break the game :)
And as there seems to be a day action in play there would be at least some confirmation possible during the day and by extension town could become united and a force driving the lynch :) and then it would be town day kill vs mafia night kill and there being usualy more town than scum that would be a sure win... (about the no fun factor, haven't really thought about that. Might be true, but I just thought about town winning this game when I suggested it...)
avatar
trentonlf: Asking what the vote count is does not correlate to flub being content with lynching Hijack or yogsloth. Just because yogsloth wants us to believe he has this all figured out and we should follow his lead blindly does not mean I will.

1. Do I think yogsloth is Town Cop? I'm still not sure, but I believe there's a good chance he is.
2. Do I think flub is scum? No I don't, I believe his avatar pertains to what he is and either yogs is again pursuing a townie because he thinks he knows it all and doesn't or he really is scum trying to pull a fast one on us. I lean toward him just being a conceited ass who really is a town cop, but he needs to get off his high horse and actually work with the rest of us town instead of pushing everyone around.
avatar
mchack: I don't know, there's quite some people that have it figured out and I really am unsure as to why you haven't (you even quoted flub acknoledging not having a town power role, without comprehending).
It's pretty much all put out there last day.... So before someone goes about explaining it to the last ones still not getting it (I'm not 100% sure scum has figured it out, too, yet) and in the process giving out all the roles in play, wouldn't this be an oportune moment for a massclaim?
With the scummiest players going first obviously. So that later on when explained they can't go "oopsy" actually I am soandso...
(I know that's not something a noob should ask for, but the way I see it town gains more info from that than scum, since after yogs play scum probably already knows pretty much who's a worthy nightkill for the next few nights to go)
Whatever this restriction a lot of people are saying they have, I do not. Just because people are saying they have a restriction does not mean everyone does or that they even do themselves. The only reason I am giving any credence to yogs right now is because of how it all went down yesterday. He seems to think he has it all figured out, but there are still so many unknowns that I think he's overlooking possibilities. I can still see how yogs can be scum and pulling a fast one on everybody, but that scenario is harder to believe than what I believe is going on.

As to a mass claim, that is still a bad idea at this point I think. All it will do is benefit scum more to know who has what role.
On mobile, and I hate trying to post this way. So brief...

@ HSL - you nailed it. I think you're getting me.

@ Kryp, 3 scum left is just the basic math assumption. You know better than to try and read something into that.

@ flub, you totally misunderstanding agent's role might be accident or on purpose, but either way, both look not good for you. I am using my conceited ass powers on you for sure. Woodie boogie woodie boogie WOO!!!

trentonlf: As to a mass claim, that is still a bad idea at this point I think. All it will do is benefit scum more to know who has what role.
Might be. I still think it's a viable path to go and might help town win this. Of course I'm not the experienced player you are. But last game I think it would have been good for town to force a massclaim earlier as bler144 suggested back then. But I'll wait for others to check in and speak their mind about it before making up my mind on what to do. Day is still long :)
No mass claim yet. Someone important is still hidden.

Would love for sage, cristi, hijack to grace us though.

adaliabooks: I believe that should have been a quote by trent (not particularly important or relevant, but I thought I'd point it out)
You are totally right. I don't know why this happened.

avatar
flubbucket: I @dedoporno - Do you think yogsloth's vote is logical??
It's depends on the point of view. I'm sure it's logical for him since I strongly believe he is who he says he is. But unlike him I still don't exclude the option that you may fall in a category that has a legit reason of not knowing what is going on.

avatar
trentonlf: To be honest I don't remember what his avatar was the last game he was scum. Flub sometimes changes his avatar to pertain to his role and sometimes he does not, I just get the feeling this time it does pertain.
I will use this opportunity to remind of a time where you had a gut feeling about a particular person being the Town Arsonist :)

The town arsonist was a BS play by the mod making a town bodyguard for a serial killer. If he would have made it a disillusioned town bodyguardf I could maybe see it, but a straight up town player is not going to protect a serial killer. By all rights my bomb should have killed flub that game anyway instead of JMich, but again the mod wanted an extra layer of protection for the serial killer because he felt it was needed for some reason. At best JMich should have flipped another neutral IMO.

Amazingly I find myself willing to do a massclaim on Day 2. Usually I would be totally against it. But under these conditions it might help sorting out who is who, combined with that they have written and understood (or not) previously. Some of our roles are out in the open anyhow. I think we do have a chance to win it if we claim now, while still not everyone is up to date about 'it', and sort through the claims. But as Yog pointed out, one of our important roles is still hidden and it might be beneficial too, to keep it so for the moment.

So, our options:
Mass Claim - risky, but potentially beneficial enough to ensure victory (depending on how intelligent scum choose their claim)
Or not mass claim - protects the yet hidden power roles, which may be the safer way to winning. However scum gets more time to read and find out what would be a good claim when the mass claim comes eventually.

Hmm. Either way has its benefits and risks. I think, this game is one of the rare occasions where an early mass claim would be more beneficial than harmful to town. But I would like to hear the opinions of the others on it, before we start it.

But IF we do start it, I think flubbucket should start. Followed by Krypsyn.

Where would you put yourself in terms of order?

@Yogs, I remind you that I asked you something and I would still like to get a response.

Is there a consensus on who the scummiest players are?

And in general, since I've not had the experience of a mass claim before - how is it determined what the order is?

I'd expect flubbucket to be inconsistent enough about it as to not allow others to make a sure tell out of it.

Do you only consider the options of town or scum? Wouldn't it be possible for him to be a thrid-party?

Usually it's pretty spontaneous... but I'm imagining under the circumstances we would vote on some kind of list of towniest to scummiest players and the scummiest claim first? Although getting agreement on that would be difficult..

I'm with you on the important party staying hidden. My role doesn't have a restriction in quite the same way that others appear to, but if I'm understanding things correctly then lifting those restrictions is vital to town..

All the lurkers / not yet contributors making an appearance would be good...
Found dedo question. Let's just say I'm sure and leave it at that.

@HSL, BlueMooner? Forgot that guy even existed! Not a good sign. For him or for me, not sure.

From what I recall, I didn't die by your bomb, but flub did have a 1-off bomb protection. At least that is how I recall the story, and I'm sticking with it.
