Suddenly everything goes very fast. There is one suspicion on Cardinal Down and then suddenly Temperance and North pile on, sealing the deal. Cardinal Down is investigated and sure enough, they aren't fit to rule the church. They have already ordered food and the most expensive drinks from everywhere in the world on credit at the cost of the Vatican. Their own office is continually out of funds and out of food and the plan was, to replace the holy wine with holy, 25 year old whisky everywhere. Not a bad plan, but this Gluttony would exceed the financial capacities of the church. Down was the very epitome of Gluttony! And is excluded from the conclave and the office.

But then things go even faster. Cardinal North holds additional information about other members and Accuses Cardinal Justice. With a secret letter from the old Pope that Cardinal Justice isn't to be trusted and is, in fact, entirely bonkers. And sure enough, an investigation reveals that Cardinal Justice is a greedy collector of everything cat-related. Cat-Buddhas, Bastet-figurines and other heathen Cat-Gods included. Their Avarice knows no bounds and they planned to rename the Vatican to CATICAN and make Cat worship mandatory in the Catholic Church. Arguing that it isn't called CAT-holic for no reason. In fact they see themselves as the only true cat-holic in the world! Consequently, they are excluded from the office and voting too.

...Only, it turns out North was a Reformer all along and now the Reformers control the Conclave. Quickly the remaining Catholics are investigated out, both of them being guilty of Cardinal Sins too. Prudence of Pride and East of Wrath. And finally the Reformers ELECT their Prankster, Cardinal Temperance as Pope, who, as the biggest prank ever, abolishes Popedom completely and forever, turning the Catholic Church into a democratic organization. Which opens a whole new chapter of history ... but that's a story for another time.
.
.
.
... I have to run to a meeting. More later. Sorry!

Catventurer: Oh wait. I forgot to say this -

None of you get the awesome human-cat utopia that would have happened if I was elected on Day 1.
We'd start by renaming the Vatican to the Catican then fill it with cats.
Be disappointed in yourselves.

No Catican for you.

Lifthrasil: Yep. This was so awesome that you requested to be the Cardinal of Avarice after the first flip. Which was exactly the role that RNG had assigned to you!
Yep! Yep! After Micro flipped and I saw that it related to the cardinal sins, I specifically requested Avarice (Greed) but extreme cat hoarding of nicknacks. My cardinal would have all the Hello Kitty bedding and bath towels that Pottery Barn sells.

I'm going to go play Godhood now, where I can tell the followers of my religion you must worship cats.
Here's how the roles were distributed:

Name.........Role...................Character...............Sin
Microfish.. .1 shot Sprayer.. West..................... Lust
Pooka ..................................Fortitude.............. Reformer
bucktoothgamer................... Prudence............. Pride
mchack ................................East..................... Wrath
trentonlf .....Accuser............. North ...................Reformer
yogsloth ...............................Up........................ Sloth
Flockeschnee ......................Down................... Gluttony
Fark .........Messenger .........South................... Envy
joppo ........Prankster ...........Temperance ........Reformer
Catventurer .........................Justice .................Greed

The Cardinal names were of course the cardinal virtues and cardinal directions and the reason not to vote for any of the 7 Catholics upon investigation were the seven cardinal sins. :-)

I am a bit amazed that the Reformers pulled off a flawless victory without having a Nightkill. I was afraid that the balance was off, that one more player than usual wouldn't be enough to offset the missing NK. But it turned out fine.

On a rerun, I would probably not reset the Election votes, but keep them. Adding another layer of strategy (killing the right player to suddenly get the possibility of a speed-election. As it was, the Election mechanic was a gimmick, but it didn't really matter. Since an unanimous Elections wasn't really possible.

What do you think? The missing Night phase was a drain on everybodies presence and the game was plagued by too many absent players. But would it be worth trying a Nightless game some time again? Or is it just too much stress?

One out of three, better than zero, so I’ll take it. Congrats scumteam.

@mchack: I’m a newbie, but I think, your observations on the last gameday were very good. For what it’s worth, in the end I was fairly convinced you were town. And you made it to the end, so congrats on that.

Thanks, Lift, for hosting and having me. Toned down, but really nice flavor. Good read.
Here's the Daychat, by the way. I hope it's open now:

If anyone wants to host the next game, PM me to get the password for proboards as long as I still remember it! ;-)
The election mechanic was probably better off not being here. It was a card for us scum to rely on for a win, but near useless for Town. Unless you were yogsloth and got the read on Trent right, but I think that was a lucky accident more than anything.

Nightless would be fine, but maybe without deadlines? Unless everyone is waffling so hard. I think the issue was that there were no breaks and we were coming back from an already long hiatus.

No one saw Accuser Trent coming. I love how the two times I had to hammer (btw the first hammer was accidental on my part but I only admitted my surprise in scumchat because I know you Catholics would be all over it), the reasoning was "so we don't give the investigation to the Accuser!" and in both times, hmm, OK, sure. Good enough for me *and* the Accuser, lol.
]Hi guys I've been in hospital for Septic Shock fir 2 weeks and probably had it 4 weeks longer. Worst my health has ever been and 100% agony at timesditio

]Congrats to reformers, I had Pooka as certified scum, Trent as very solid town. Other than that my condition made it difficult to concentrte. Was pretty sure Micrro would flip Town

Scene! I'm very relieved you're not dead. I'm sorry that you had to suffer this illness, in fact I suppose that between your sudden disappearance and Catventurer's stomach bug you townies had the worst luck ever.

I had my personal health issues too but it didn't even come close to setting us back as yours did to you. Well, at least your slot was filled by Flocke and in my opinion she fared much better than "novice" level.

Reading the reformer day-chat is fun :)

Here's a bit for cat:

Pooka: "I like Catventurer's idea that we're like a hydra, coordinating with each other to say safe things, although she couldn't be further from the truth... I think we're doing so little of that coordination thing. Damn, a Mafia Hydra would be so cool."

Hey, thanks, but reading the scumchat they were full of praise how well you started into the game:
Trent: "Man, I like how Flock plays, they are good, if I was Town and she was scum I think she would be fooling me if she played this well."
Joppo: "I agree with you Trent, Flocke has entered this game much stronger than I ever saw her play in past games. Her intuition has been pretty good, she picked up you and Pooka for the scumteam from the start and also called me scummy."

So congrats to you! :) I on the other hand, went after you (and yogs) exactly because you suspected trent, which in hindsight, was quite stupid of me. Well, I am truly red in the face. Maybe I'll do better next time.

(also found it ironic to see that trent actually planned to go after me on day three, but I guess because of my constant townreading him, didn't ever do it :)

ah, well played scum. But yes, trent. I will never trust you to be town again. ever. :)
@Flocke: yes, you entered very strongly. Thank you for stepping in and giving the game so much effort!

And @Catventurer: thank you too for investing so much time and effort into the game in spite of your bad health! You carried the game over large stretches with your activity!

And @supplementscene: welcome back among the living!

oh, sorry to hear you've been this sick. Septic Shock is really bad :( Hope you are on the path of recovery and feeling better now or at least soon.

@trent also I found your gift in the reformer-chat. Hope you don't mind that I also got them, but I'm always interested in tabletop rule-systems. thank you :)

Looks up Septic Shock

Oh fuck...

Scene, I'm glad you're still with us even after getting THAT. Don't do anything else besides recover, okay? No need to even pay any more attention to the game, focus on your health first and foremost, forum mafia won't go away after all, there will always be another game, but your health is more important.

I invite everyone to read it and have fun (except you scene, don't, just heal up!). It may be a bit too quiet by the standards of, well, a place where you can say whatever you want and nobody will vote you for it, but you get to see how we do the scum thing together!

You'll find the bits where we try to pull off the quickhammer funny. So while Catholics went into amazing theories to explain why a quickhammer wasn't dropped after Flocke's vote, in the thread you see us just slightly panicking for being unable to even pull it off in the place, hehe.

Would also like to hear your thoughts about trent and I finding playing as scum fun versus joppo being stressed about it.

Anyone can use the link it’s fine with me. I also stopped my push on you because my gut said it wasn’t a good idea at that time. I was playing the long game. I would have pushed for joppo’s lynch for more Town credit and then gone for you afterwards, and been utterly dismayed to have gotten it wrong about you if I was actually able to pull it off.
It's crazy that the final lynch seemed to go in the blink of an eye for me, but was like a page and a half worth of planning for yall!

@Scene glad to hear you're still kicking.
