Catventurer: You've been tunnel vision on me from day one. Accusing me of being scum and making demands of me that you wouldn't make of anyone else.
avatar
Catventurer: This is not a "woe is me vote." Accusing me of being unhelpful when others have been barely posting is just flat out rude, especially when there were two substitutions for non-participation. If there was a night phase, I could go be angry at everyone for a few days to try to get past that but there isn't. At this point, I'm just offended to the point that I actively want to be voted out.
The way you replied to my scum hunting attempts pre-hammer seemed less like townie trying to be helpful and more like you had taken something I said or did earlier personally. If I am wrong I apologize and I also apologize if any of my posts frustrated you in some way. As townies we need to help each other ferret out scum. I tried doing such and most of what I got back for my troubles are postings like #253. To me the 'don't want to leaving a hit list for scum' reasoning feels weak also as townies are often asked for their leans and reads in thses kinds of games.
avatar
FlockeSchnee: Really? Another self-voter? I kind of expect that from Farky, but you? It looks like you try to benefit from Farky flipping town afterwards.
You make good points. Still if cat is townie I would like to see them take the vote off themselves and continue giving it a go. I can understand being frustrated in these games though.
avatar
FlockeSchnee: Sad to see micro and Farky as stumps already, but it is nice, they can still state their opinions.

Three players, that are new to me.

@Lift:
If I elect someone and change my mind without having another candidate for it, can I at any time self-elect again?
Yes, of course. Self-election is always possible.
avatar
PookaMustard: Well, so be it. I hate it, I feel like we're handing scum the game, but I think we'll agree that if he's Town, it's not voting out Farky that delights them already.

investigate Farky
Why did you say this?

avatar
yogsloth: ...
Are you scum yog's?

avatar
FarkyTheDog: You were one of the few who had a laser focus on me for awhile. In order to help me play the game (with your insight if you're townie and also helping me to be puzzling out your alignment a bit) I asked for your second most likely suspect and why. As I said, either you're crafty scum or a townie being unhelpful by not helping another townie (myself) play better and puzzle out the game.
avatar
Catventurer: You've been tunnel vision on me from day one. Accusing me of being scum and making demands of me that you wouldn't make of anyone else. But you know what. Let's all investigate me so that Farky can see that he was wrong about me all along.

VOTE Catventurer

You need to move on to other people after this.
Please, for the love of God, if you really are Town like I think you are don't do this, I also think scum have been coasting this game and this will only help them. I understand you being frustrated, but step away for a complete day and cool off if you need to. You know self voting is scummy, even if you are doing it out of frustration.

I don't see where the sudden interest in Cat is coming from, she's been one of my strongest Town reads this game and I'll be hard pressed to see it otherwise.

You are aware that Micro already had made such a request, right?

And that I was one of the few people that actually responded to his request, right?

You can say that you were planning on hitting up everyone else, but it is a fact that you were demanding a second such request of me when 1) I already complied the first time and 2) most of this game's participants did not comply with Micro's request.

Now how do you think that looks when I was already suspicious of you? It looks exactly like you're trying to get me to guess at who your scum pals are while hoping that I'll mess up and pick a town person so that we can lynch that person just so that you can later say, "Well, Catventurer said that person was scum..." Much like you tried saying that I built a wagon against Micro when all drop a vote on him and referred to that same post later asked why, but was otherwise very passive about it. No, I wasn't playing that game with you.

FACT - I really do believe that at minimum one scum is hiding among the less active players.

I think that scum team has been using day chat to act like a hydra. Nobody on scum team posts anything here without running it past their teammates, which is not an illegal move due to them having Day Chat. I thought that Farky was acting as the main head so that his teammates could coast under the radar, but now I think that all three of them are doing it as a joint effort. It would explain a lot of the things.

unvote Catventurer and only because you asked.

Catventurer: You are aware that Micro already had made such a request, right?

No to both questions. By now it is painfully obvious I didn't pay enough attention to the game. My apologies for that to you and all my fellow townies.

As townies shouldn't we always be considering the possibility that anyone not hard locked as a particular faction could be any faction, regardless of how we might feel? Sure I could've been scum and a town you wouldn't know that, but it doesn't hurt to consider more possibilities and play accordingly.

Thanks for replying more in depth to my queries. Hoping this info will help us (more so the other townies) catch scums.

NEW RULE - No more skimming for you.

I can tell you right now. Scum team isn't skimming. They also have day chat so can post summaries of everything that happened up to a specific point for each other. Even if they skim as individuals, they can fall back on each other.

If you don't have time to read properly, please just come back later when you have time. Some people can pull off skimming, but it's obvious that you're missing far too much and caused a lot of misunderstandings that only aided scum. You had me 10,000% convinced that you were just some weirdo that had an unhealthy fixation on me.

Oddly I play similar even when reading more. I tend to misremember things online and IRL. Note taking might be helping but copious note taking makes game tedious and sometimes even then I don't play well.

Ditto
EBWOP
I am glad we clearing it up that that wasn't the case for either of us!

Seriously, do this when you have time -

Just re-read the entire thread from the beginning. Don't just skim it.

You might notice that something just feels a little off about certain player(s) - make note of that/those name(s). I'm being deliberately evasive about how many person(s) that I'm referring to specifically at the moment because scum team has endless Day Chat and as I said before, I think the three of them are acting as a hydra. I'm also not putting out name(s) myself at this time.
@Lift: Thanks. I wasn’t entirely sure.

avatar
yogsloth: I may be losing my love thing for catventurer
What exactly has been your contribution to find scum so far? Any impressions of players, you would like to, finally, share? Or are they secret, too?

avatar
bucktoothgamer: Sorry I underlined when I should have bolded.

Vote Cat

Also welcome Flockeschnee. Not sure if this is your first game here or if we just haven't crossed paths before, but hope you enjoy yourself before the reformers eat us alive(at least the rate this games going)
Thanks. I played two games of mafia here on gog years ago (and one, where a sub had to step in for me on day 2).
Yes, I doesn't look to good for town.

I read the OP two times now and I still can’t find, where it says votes have to be bolded. Apparently, I went kind of blind.

mchack:
avatar
FlockeSchnee: Is this your first time playing mafia/werewolf, or do you have some experience already?
Nope, I've played a few games of forum mafia here (never anywhere else though), but my last game was at least 5 years ago I think, probably more. And as far as I remember I never got very far. I think day 3 was usually the furthest I would go before getting lynched. So not a pro player by any metric ;)

avatar
mchack: yes. ok, you get town points from me for that. Scum wouldn't need to do that. Scum could just lean back and enjoy the end of day.
avatar
FarkyTheDog: But if they lean back too much then they appear more scummy. Aha!
Do they, though? From what I can see most pressure at the moment is on our most active player. And the less active ones simply don't answer questions and seem to get through with it.

avatar
mchack: So you were just saying Farky is town by analyzing his writing pattern or are you implying there's another player in this game you suspect is town? Please use simple words so even I can get it.
avatar
FarkyTheDog: Perhaps read posting#204?
sorry, that didn't help. post #204 is just some troll. I was asking about the bit I quoted from joppo's post #239 and specifically wanted to know if he was implying he and cat played with another player that is in this game that they analyzed the writing of and thought was town or if it was all about you. Just a bit stumped about the meaning of that quote and that's why I asked. nobody answered yet and it probably doesn't matter anyway but I like to understand what people are saying so I just asked.

avatar
mchack: now that we know the messenger is/was town are you still thinking that the prankster is town aswell? What do you think they were telling you?
avatar
Catventurer: Yes. I'm also fairly confident that it's someone that reads the thread and doesn't skim. I think they saw me saying that my cat hates forum time and did their prank as a way to say, "Please be distracted by all these cats that I'm giving you."

If you look at things objectively, people have been just hiding behind me all game. I need to be distracted by all those cats so that they will have no choice except to participate more and stop using me as a crutch.
hmm, sounds reasonable. I for one like it better when you are active, because it's more fun. We are playing this thing for fun after all, aren't we? Don't really think scum lurkers will become more active by you becoming less active. But what do I know. But I'm looking forward to the next prank whatever the alignment of the prankster is. It adds a bit of flavor to the game :)

Maybe, I wouldn't overestimate them, though. They aren't superhuman just because they are scum. They are just as human as the townies. The last time I remember playing scum, that daychat wasn't very helpful at all. People weren't posting very much at all. Depends on who's scum I guess, inactive scum will probably be just as inactive in the daychat. posting is work and having two chats to fill is just twice the work ;)

avatar
FlockeSchnee: I read the OP two times now and I still can’t find, where it says votes have to be bolded. Apparently, I went kind of blind.
Hehe, I think you just found a bug in the rules section. Lift seems to have forgotten to state that votes need to be bolded, but I think it's understood because this has always been the case in gog forum mafia games.

Tl;dr:
Nothing new from me just answering questions and commenting. Still waiting for Joppo to react to my voting to investigate him. You out there?
And also waiting for a lifesign of yogs. The less you make me laugh, the less likely I'll be to keep thinking you probably must be town.
Definitely lost my love thing for cat.

I have the sads.
Just going to organize some information here.

I, however, will attempt to use it to analyze afterward.
