Matewis: Just saw Clerks 2 for the first time. I knew it would be good, at least a whole lot better than Dogma and Mallrats, but I didn't expect for the film to actually be excellent. It's easily one of the best films I've ever seen, which feels incredibly weird to type :P
DOGMA is Kevin Smith's best movie! It's an excellent film! I think Clerks 2 is one of his worst (though better than Clerks, which doesn't take much.)

Curious what you think of Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid, to me that is another that doesn't hold up so well.

drealmer7: I am considering voting for Bernie Sanders in the primaries though, just to be clear, because as far as government progress goes, he's crucial. Otherwise I lean towards anarchist/self-accountable/communal self-governing.
I am not that well versed in American Politics but isn't Bernie the exact opposite of what you described at the end?

anyone supporting goverment power is opposite of what I stated at the end, hence "otherwise"

Oh, sorry overlooked that word, his chances are low at the moment aren't they?

Not as low as pretty much everywhere would have everyone think, actually. Chances get even better if people GET A FuCKING CLUE sooner rather than later too.

Media controls people's views and opinions here, they report in such ways to demoralize people and make them think there is less of a chance than there is and doing that makes people go "okay fine I'll vote for Hilary then." Blah, I hate this fucking country.

There's the same problem everywhere, even in India. Hate the media but not your country for being subject to such manipulations.Since Bernie is not in their pockets they tend to do that. Trump would probably make for better president than Hilary. (If he gets through primaries and then wins general elections as well, both of which he has low chances of)

It's more or less the same in Germany too.

I'll try watching it again someday then. I did enjoy it, but it didn't really leave a lasting impression on me. I'd definitely say the best part about it was how Kevin Smith protested the film himself along with a bunch of other clueless protesters :D

What makes Clerks 2 great for me is how the film builds up to that inevitable final confrontation between Dante and Randal, and especially Jeff Anderson's performance in it as he tries to fight to save a friendship which obviously means the world to him.

I want to watch Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid next, but I'm waiting until a day that I find myself in the mood for it :P I'll be sure to let you know what I though of the film once I see it.
And yeah, I realize it's possible that it has aged poorly, much like another 60s film I saw a few years back : Von Ryan's Express. I thought it had a great premise but I found it really difficult to sit through. Well, perhaps it wasn't that good back then either :P

I've seen for the first time a year ago or so, and I liked it a lot. Didn't feel aged at all. Actually I keep forgetting it's as old as it is. Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid I think aged more noticeably, even though it was made 4 years later. Still a very good movie though, just shows it's age a little.
Night of the Living Dead

I had never watched a zombie film before that excluding Resident Evil. My GF made me watch it and I was blown away. It was surprisingly well-written and engaging. I thought it would be some sort of garbage gore porn but what I got was what felt like grittier and more violent Hitchcock.

Oh yeah, I've watched many more zombie films since then but sadly most ones are as stupid as I had them to be.

Have you tried the original zombie movie, White Zombie?

Dawn of the Dead (original) is quite good too (another smart social-commentary movie like Night of the Living Dead), and Re-Animator is surprisingly good.

It's not that Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid doesn't hold up over the decades, I think more for me it didn't hold up over multiple watches. I thought it was great the 1st time, very good the 2nd, boring the 3rd, then I waited 10 more years and watched it again and, bored still. Sometimes movies hold up great for 3 or 4 watches but then start to fall apart, some movies hold up after 20-30-50 times.

Yep - my favorite zombie movie. There's plenty of others I like as well - but this one was over-the-top excellent in my book.
I always hated John Waters. I felt getting an actor to eat dogshit is just disrespectful and inhumane. So I mostly avoided watching his film. I saw HAIRSPRAY and SERIAL MOM. Didn't care for either one.

Then I watched POLYESTER, (includling Odorama gimmick) That movie was ... good! I didn't expect that. He actually respected his characters. Later I saw CECIL B. DEMENTED ... really like that too!

I love em both for different reasons. Chock one up for the surprisingly good remake.
