I'd highly recommend The Great Impostor, starring Tony Kurtis. Think Catch Me If You Can, but with a likable character.
500 Days of Summer is my new favourite. It is romantic in a realistic way for once. Very very funny at times also. :)

Yea, that's a really great film. One of my favorite from last year. I've already seen it like 4 times.
I've got a few favorite films and they include the Lord of the Rings Trilogy with Return of the King being my favorite entry. One that is definitely worth mentioning is The Outlaw Josey Wales. It's probably the best western movie I ever saw.

The last movies that I've seen in theaters (saw two on the same day) were The Expendables and Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. Both movies were awesome. The Expendables had an excellent cast and great action. Scott Pilgrim was funny and entertaining and while it falls short of the comic books, the filmmakers did a good job overall.

Recommendations: The ones that I have mentioned if any of you haven't seen them already. I also recommend seeing The Boondock Saints and Slammin Salmon. I got to see both on DVD over the summer. I rented The Boondock Saints since I've heard much about it and loved it. I liked how the story was told, the action, and the brutality. Slammin Salmon was movie my cousins rented and it was actually surprisingly funny. It's definitely worth seeing if you want a good laugh (for the right reasons).

Almost forgot: I also got to see 30 Days of Night on DVD and it was really good vampire movie. It was very bloody and violent and it was pretty suspenseful. It's definitely worth seeing if you want a good vampire flick.

Sadly, Boondock Saints 2 fell flat. I LOVED the first one though - such a good movie.

AVOID "The Informer". That was the most retarded movie I've seen in ages, I actually could feel my intellect being drained away. I JUST managed to get to the end, pathetically hoping that there would be some massive huge omfg mindfuck twist to salvage that shambles.

Suffice to say, there wasn't. Fuck that movie.
Just saw Surrogates (aka "Clones" in France... yeah, lame title...).
Very disappointed.

The main idea is pretty interesting, but there are several things I didn't like in the movie, the main one being that the movie is terribly executed. At no point, I've been "in" the movie, it totally lacks of immersion, and I don't know exactly why. I thought it was just me, but I've seen it with a friend and he had the same feeling about it.

The other bad stuff in my opinion:

- visually: don't like the aspect of the surrogates. I know it's kinda made on purpose, to show the artificial "beauty" in all its plastic uglyness, but well...

- visually (again): the overall colors and light in the movie were just horrible, and totally lacks of any graphic style

- acting: not so bad, but as the surrogates are supposed to be very realistic but not perfect, I guess actors who played them have been told to be unexpressive, including Bruce Willis. So, for a good part of the movie, we have the feeling of watching a movie terribly acted.

- story: interesting at first, but rapidly become boring and totally un-surprising.
Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call. Odd. Quite odd.

La Haine
very good portrayal of riots and violence in the suburbs of paris, and some really good characters. I would definitely recommend it if you don't mind the fast french dialogue. Plus the soundtrack is awesome

frostcircus: Anyone who claims to understand Primer is a liar. I did find it strangely enjoyable though.
It's not really that difficult to understand :) After all, Carruth didn't mean for it to be ambiguous. Though I was confused as hell on the first viewing.

What I find truly fascinating is how good a movie for how little money (that would be 7000$).
I just saw robogeisha.

I still have no idea what's happening in that movie. must be a japanese thing

I agree. That is the reason I just DO NOT understand the Saw and Hostel hype. WTF. I watched the first Hostel and just... Kinda felt sad that someone actually thought it was a good idea and that millions of someones thought it was a great movie. What a disgrace.

People thinking it was good made me genuinely sad for the human race. I can barely consider it a movie, let alone good. And adding to it is Quentin Tarantino whoring it out, pretending it's good. Horrible.

It's ages old, but I watched Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story for the first time since I was a kid, and it was still excellent. :)

I also caught I Am Comic, which is a pretty solid documentary if you're into the comedy scene, or you know, if you like laughing. Even the comedians I thought I would hate were quite entertaining.
