RWarehall: Seriously, this is someone's farewell thread. I don't get why you seem to want to take it over to spout off your own gripes about other forum users. Frankly, I find the attitude of some "old users" toward the rest of the forum as one of the growing problems.
This divisiveness does not help and only goes to prove how its not "just" newer users causing the problems...
And being an asshole is helpful in what sense? You're pretty much the epitome of why folks that have been here for quite a while no longer bother making the effort.
You guys have won, you drove away another one of the old-time regulars.
hedwards: I doubt he'll be back. The community is getting to be less and less of a draw and his copy of windows is rather ancient. So, even buying games here is probably going to be less frequent.
I have to admit that I'm in a similar boat, most of the games I own won't run on my current computer and the community is getting less and less fun.
Magnitus: Yeah, I talked with the guy and it seems his reasons for leaving were more grounded than I initially thought (not just the forums, but also regionally priced games and the need for newer Window versions to play a good many games which doesn't quite feel right for me either).
I admire his principle for strictly sticking to Linux purchases. As someone who will buy select Linux titles at full or near-full price and systematically wait for steep discount on Windows titles, he makes me feel like a lightweight.
I feel inspired. I'll have to systematically boycott some of the less promising Windows-only title in his honor ;).
I have to admit that I'm not really sure why I come here any more. The quality of the community is severely lacking as of late and the last games I bought were when iD came here.
Folks like RWarehall are pretty much emblematic of why the fora are no longer particularly good.
