DetouR6734: You lose when you start taking what people say on the internet seriously.

Never get personal, even your name is too much.

Don't ever get alt. accounts to improve your "rep" or down "rep" another, i wouldn't consider wasting the time, besides being lazy has it's benefits.

You start doing that shit and you're already too emotionally involved, you should pull the plug and seriously take a walk outside.

GameRager: All good points, well perhaps not the giving someone your first name is a bit too much but the rest is agreeable.

At least it seems to happen to everyone. :D

I laugh my ass off at people who seem to think it's all coming from me and a small minion of my bots, evidently overlooking the fact that virtually everything I post gets low rated too. XD

A few days ago someone actually suggested that I was using my "army of bots" to low rate my own posts in order to divert suspicion from myself.

Ummmmmm.....yeah.
Okay. XD

GameRager: It would divert suspicion away from you and you can withstand the rep loss more with such high rep. o.0
Giving your name will generally state your gender, which is best being kept private, it's surprising how far your name could go if someone is intent on finding out more about you.

Most people i know on the web don't even know my name, instead just using my username. It's always preferable, and it stops one from getting too personal.

I have met some folks i have known only through the internet, though i had known them for years prior.

I've been doxxed in here several times already.

I got over it.

Shit, there are only 98 people in the town where I live, and I've posted the name of the town several times. Even a complete idiot could figure out who I am, but only a complete idiot would bother actually doing it. XD

1. Tbh I couldn't care less if someone knew my name/gender(first name). It could be false for all they know, and without a location to match it to it'd be hard to pinpoint who I was specifically and where I was(with just that info).

Also my name is very common so there might be several people with my first name in the same area.

2. Also I find it odd that his rep stays very high despite being downvoted so much.

If it's false then they don't know it.

And like i said, you'd be surprised how far it can go if someone is intent.

They'd need other info to tie it to me, though, and likely some skill to track me somehow(technical/detective skills/etc). As such, I am ok with giving out such and other basic info(to a point) to trusted people/in limited arenas.

One more serious question that's always bugged me every time I get accused of this crap.

Why would a 43 year old cancer survivor who has turned his life around and now lives and extremely fulling existence dedicate himself to creating bots so that he can effect a meaningless number in a meaningless virtually unheard of gaming forum? :P

I could see myself doing it if I was a little kid or something, or someone who had just hit rock bottom and felt bitter and pissed off at the rest of the world; someone who in some way felt cheated or victimized, and thus felt the need to strike out at people and society, however silly the form of that strike might be, but that's obviously not the case here. Oh, it might have been 25/30 years ago, but not now. Now, I wake up every day amazed I'm alive and beyond grateful for it. I have absolutely nothing to prove to anyone, and no reason to think I do. If I ever did wake up feeling that way I have the people around me, this place around me, and the ever present scar from my chest port to shake me, bring me back to the here and now, and remind me what really does matter.

In criminal terms, I simply don't fit the profile.

One thing leads to another and yes there are people capable of that all over the world and on the internet it's the world you're facing.

Don't be naive, it's blatently obvious people are capable of it, however whether they would want to waste their time on you is the question, and thatnkfully the majority of them wouldn't as they have better things to do.

1. One could also ask why you bother posting all the silly comments/pics to derail/joke around in various threads you dislike or just taken interest in every day.

2. One with cancer(one of my parents had it and survived btw so you have my kudos for that as well as I know how tough it is to beat that) might feel bitter about life even if they survive and feel life is less meaningful and that it's ok to bother others(in general...I am not singling you out with this bit).

3. If you aren't doing it then why do you send other users info on those you dislike/distrust to possibly stir crap between users on the forums? :|

1. Life is too short to worry about such(imo), so I don't worry AS MUCH....though yes I do keep some more personal info private.

2. This is true and why I don't worry so much.

Yes, why would a 43 year old cancer survivor do that sort of thing? Doesn't mean you're that person you say you are.

Point is i don't really care, you come in and wave your arms around and say it isn't me! like it really matters.

One person's silly is someone else's funny, is it not? And having a bit of fun is what some of us need. The goal is not to derail; I think the fun things are more fun if you can share and show others.

It's just that we don't all share the same sense of humor. That's okay. So if there is a joke I don't like, it is easy enough to ignore it and move on.

It looks like people really didn't like the joke I posted in the Ryzen thread!

1. If it's a few one off comments and obviously not meant to poke fun at the topic/user who started it then that;s fine, but if people do crude/rude replies/posts over and over to obv. provoke the thread starter or derail the thread then I find issue with that.

Also if too many people do such joking posts others might see it and steer clear who might've otherwise added more serious posts to a thread.

2. Agreed/true

1. True but it can be easy to judge with some posts/replies & certain posters.

2. That pic has pron/nudity in one of the pics under the main pic. Maybe that's why it got low rated?
