We need to get into formation fast.
I have cast the death armour spell. Can we cast a second spell/turn now ?
Positioned behind Siegfried, my loaded crossbow is ready to fire at any approaching nightmares.
What about everyone else still alive?

BenKii: Don't run you fool! You'll run right into the pack of beasts coming this way! Why don't you use those powerful spells of yours to clear our path and escape.
(I'm pressing others, more than running alone, and I didn't go past the paladins in the front.
I'm actually trying to stay near the Cleric, even if I don't know his current position)

"I can't see anything ahead, proceed with the torches!"
(his elven infravision could only work in complete darkness, not with such mix of light and shadows)
Loradan used his Magic Missile wand against the nearest descending Nightmare.

Hope you get well soon.

Protective spells last 5 turns.

Disarming it was good. Otherwise one of us might step into it in the heat of battle. But maybe it can be re-armed once we are through?
Lets see if "Calming Animals" can be of use and if yes, how successful it will be.

ConsulCaesar: Someone check the clawed feet coming from the other side of the tunnel!

~~~~~~
Siegfried the Human Paladin
avatar
BenKii: I'm on it Siegfried! My sword is ready to repel whatever beasts are coming this way. Perhaps if I see them coming down the tunnel first, I can direct Tanea's "Calm Animals" spell to hit them. If that spell fails then we'll see if cold steel works.
Sounds like a good plan.
-----------------
Farewell, Origi, Battlemage Queen (servobeupstry). Quite a spectacular way to die.
-----------------
Tanea, the Halfling Shaman
Suddenly all hell breaks loose. There is a flash of warm light in the main chamber and a roar followed by a mighty crash. When I look, the Dwarf, who was heading our way, enters the tunnel and I see a gigantic centipede in the main chamber. Before I can react to that, there are awful noises above us. I look up and see Origi floating? near the ceiling before she is grabbed by two creatures and torn in half. I'm horrified. How did she even get up there? I only get a glimpse at more of those nightmares descending down on us and getting stopped somehow from actually reaching us, before my attention is drawn to a new sound. Claws from somewhere ahead of us, coming our way. Lavish Hills, where are you? A gigantic centipede behind us, nightmares above us and who knows what infront of us.
Roosevelt moves to confront the nightmares. I step up to where Roosevelt was before in the second row as BenKii goes up front using his amulet to see in the dark and take a look at whatever is heading our way. If they are animals, he will tell us and I will try and calm them. If that fails ... I grip my staff tight, while my gaze drifts to the two Drows and two Half-Orcs. They wanted a fight, they have it. Even without the claws, there are still the nightmares, maybe even the centipede, once it's finished with those who didn't make it out of the main chamber. And I will do whatever little I can, too.
Tanea, the Halfling Shaman
-----------------
58 - FlockeSchnee - Tanea - Halfling Shaman
Tanea holds her spell "Calm Animals" ready for BenKiis instructions. She also holds her staff ready.
If I get this right:
BenKii, Shins and the Stone Elemental are in the first row towards where the claws come from (from deeper in the tunnel). I'm now in the row behind them.
I have no idea from where the nightmares are attacking, since they come from above. So I'm not sure, where exactly Roosevelt (and Loradan and everyone) is in regards to position.
-----------------
Edit: Wow, writing this took really long.
67 - Rufus - Human cleric
Being next to his party members, as soon as Rufus see the creatures, Rufus holds his amulet in the air and shouts:
"I ORDER YOU TO VANISH!"
Rufus casts a Holy Guardian to help the party.
Once the guardian is summoned, he casts Fire weapon on his Silver Light Hammer, and protected with his shield, he prepares to smash whatever could attack him or the party members next to him.
74 - runnerex - Yeenwi - Drow Necromancer
Yeenwi takes one look at the Nightmares and mutters under his breath:
"Those would make a fine addition to our little war party."
Yeenwi casts Control Undead toward the Nightmares
Then looking at the others, he adds:
"If someone has any userful traps, you better set one behind us now, because I have little desire of becoming food for that many-legged monstrosity and I trust you share that sentiment..."
Captain's Log Stardate 73199:
All attempts to contact my ship, the USS Ragnarok, have failed. It appears whoever brought us here doesn't want any outside interference with their "game". My only choice is to find my way out with the help of the other people in this west tunnel.
I tried using my Captain's charm on the beautiful halfling queen known as Origi and tried to make an agreement. Unfortunately she seemed to rebuff me. Usually this always works on the alien women I meet. Shortly after, however, she levitated up to the ceiling to take a closer look at the red glowing entities but was immediately torn in half by some nightmarish creatures. It brought back bad memories of the time I led an away party on Janus VI and a silicone-based life form horrifically killed a young Ensign Security Officer named Oliver. But now is not the time for inaction because now several beasts from further up the tunnel have heard the commotion and are on their way to kill us.
A plan is formed and the 2 paladins plus the elf mage take on the Nightmare creatures while I go to the front lines with Shins A'hoy and the Rock Elemental to take on the approaching beasts. Shins is laying the trap back out for the beasts and I turn to the Rock elemental with a nod hoping it understands to be ready for combat. I tell our halfing shaman friend, Tanea, to be ready with her "Calm Animals" spell the second the beasts come into my infrared range. Hopefully the spell will work and we all can move forward in this dungeon and leave those Nightmares behind us.[/i]
I stand with Shins A'Hoy and the Rock elemental with shield and sword at the ready. I look down the path and prepare to tell Tanea to cast "Calm Animals" once they come into my range.
( Wait a second.. you've been displaced here from some futuristic time\dimension and.. you have a shield and sword? Did you find them in the dungeon? Can you even use such primitive weapons? Do you know that magic exists here? O_o )
(He's got plenty of experience with medieval holodeck simulations to easily handle a sword and shield.) ;-)
Apologies for my late response. I was traveling for work, and just got back.
"Well, let's see what I can clear out ahead of us". Roy mutters some incantation, and throws a fireball down the corridor to hopefully kill, or at least slow down whatever is coming towards us. (Far enough to not hurt any party members... this time)
Hold on Roy Jenks! Don't just throw a blind shot fireball. Wait until they come into range of my infrared vision and I'll relay you their position so you'll have a better chance of hitting them. Plus we're trying to see if Tanea's "Calm Animals" spell will tame them all down in one strike. If that fails, you can quickly follow that up with one of those devastating fireballs.
"Arrrgh! Humans think too much! Need to act now like a mighty orc!"... Roy grudgingly waits though. Glancing at the remains of Origi and thinks to himself that at least he has some food for the adventure now since he forgot to pack rations.
40 - Gilius, dwarven druid.
I watch in horror the poor little halfling getting torn apart by the shadows and falling on the ground. That was a really unfortunate way to end. Maybe losing an ally so early in our adventure will weaken us too much ? Maybe we could have used her extra firepower against these horrors ? Maybe she could have been helpful event though she was so pompous ? Maybe it doesn't have to end like this ?
I cast a spell.
Meanwhile, I command the stone elemental to wait near the fighter (BenKii), behind Shins A'Hoy and the trap, waiting for anything coming at striking range (be it a beast coming from the front or a nightmare from above and behind).
How many Nightmares would you be able to control?
I will cast Turn Undead on the rest if the Protect from Evil spell doesn't keep them away, now that we're ready to fight them. Let me draw the first blood, my sword deals extra damage against Undead.
