BenKii: Whoever is behind that door may not have that kind of time. Let Shins or Peloquin scout out the left room for traps.

I'm fully aware that it might be a trap, in fact, it almost certainly is a trap, but I can't take the off chance that it is a real person in danger. It goes against my principles as a Starf-.... I mean a uhh.... Honorable Warrior. I'll accept full responsibility if things go sideways and I'm prepared if it's a trap, now please, dispel the door.
"Pay attention to her words, BenKii: they belong to a prisoner, not to someone in an immediate peril."
"Also, it's a bit suspicious to me that she managed to touch that door without repercussions."
"There is no single responsibility in this place, we could all pay for a bad choice."

*There is a light knocking coming from the warded door on the right. You hear a panicked, feminine voice "is someone out there? Please don't leave me here to die!". The voice breaks into sobbing.*

Fish the Half-Orc Berserker

Ignore that! That's an old witch's trick! Let's deal with the left room first before dealing with the warded right door. Open the door human! Let's see if there is something I can kill.

Genocide2099: Open the door human! Let's see if there is something I can kill.
(The door is open but I think Doc forgot to describe what was inside.)
(Tanea "charmed" the rats in turn 2. At the beginning of turn 7 or the end of turn 6 they will turn feral again. We could just leave them behind, but we are soooooo slow. There is still a nightmare left and now we are stuck at doors. Tanea will be heartbroken if we have to kill them. :-( I'm afraid I'm probably not creative enough to figure out a way out of this mess.)

phaolo: ...
(Do you know, if one of your "Detect Secrets" included the rats? I know, I'm grasping at straws here. :-/ )

--------------------
Tanea, Halfling Shaman (female)
Suddenly everything is out of place. No, _I_ am out of place, or rather out of my mind. There is an Ice Elemental watching over Shins as I return to the rats, climb onto one's back and go riding down behind the backs of those two nightmares, who are about to try their hardest to finally achieve their goal and end Siegfrieds life, thwacking them with my staff as we (the rat and I) pass them by in the desperate hope to distract them long enough for Roosevelt and Siegfried to figure out a course of action. And it works! Only one nightmare remains.
Now the rats and I are back where our story began. But this time my heart isn't scared, not in that sense, but heavy. Stupid, stupid, stupid. I'm about to cry again, but just squish that useless notion when Roosevelt shouts to me that Siegfried was hurt. I look for him and sure enough, he lays slumped to the floor at the side of a wall. The crashing sound I heard must have been his armour or shield hitting the wall. Did his head hit it too? I look at the rats. What have I done? I wanted to save them from Cruel. And I wanted to save Siegfried. _I_ wanted to. Did they? They were lucky the nightmares didn't do Cruel's work for him. Yes, I wanted to get them out of Cruel's reach. But ... I used them just the same. I've never been so lost in my life. ... And this coldness just doesn't seem to want to leave my bones. "You are all going to die here" just keeps repeating in my head "and I will be the one to kill you". No, I won't. No! I won't! My heart is still heavy as I come to a decision. Well, as much as one can decide in a place like this.

Tanea, Halfling Shaman (female)
--------------------

58 - FlockeSchnee - Tanea - Halfling Shaman
Tanea hurriedly says goodbye to every single rat while looking into it's eyes and then reminds them about what she had told them about the traps and fleeing, if needed. She tells them to be careful and sends them into the main chamber, fearing for the worst and hoping for the best, mumbling to herself in reassurance "They must know this place, they can make it out, if they want to."
Then Tanea goes to Siegfried and casts Heal on him (twice if necessary and possible).

(I think Roosevelt will have that last Nightmare dealt with. As for the rats, Tanea could send them into the central chamber. There are no more adventurers left there and the centipede is now dead so they should be safe and not interfere with anyone else.)

(I'm sure he will. No Drows to impede his dice roll. :-)
Yes, I'd like to send them there. But as sasuke/Strigon pointed out, they might just come back. And we will probably still be at the doors when they do. :-/ I'm at a loss here. Thanks for your words. Gives me hope that not everyone (who isn't Tanea) wants to see them dead.
Do you know, if the tunnel continues past the doors? - I just asked Doc in chat, but maybe I just overlooked something. - Well, I'm _assuming_ it does, giant tunnel turning out to be a dead end would be ... weird. Yes, there are the doors and maybe a path behind them, but probably not a continuation of the giant tunnel. I don't think we walked all that far in either.)

(Some think it does but I don't know for sure. We'll have to wait for clarification from Doc. I'm also waiting on his answer about the left room so I guess we'll have to see what he says.)

Send them in the central chamber ! With a bit of luck, they will attack the other groups from the back and entertain them for a while ! :D

Yes, the tunnel continues, Doc told me in the chat. That's why I said I would watch and listen in that direction.

(Thanks. Overlooked that watch and listen part in your post, only saw that you asked, if it continues. (Doc just answered it in chat too.)

And thanks for your input about the rats. - Even though, others killing them wouldn't make Tanea happy, but at least she wouldn't know.
*sigh* I guess a dungeon just isn't the right place for any living creature to survive and Tanea will just have to let them go and live on in the delusion they might make it out of here alive, just like her group will.
Still have about a day to come to a decision. Maybe I will have some kind of moment of clarity until then.)
74 - Yeenwi - Drow Necromancer

Yeenwi moves a little closer to the two doors, but not close enough to negatively affect those standing right near them and ready to provide assistance, if required.

"About whoever is kept in the right door, it would be a colossal mistake to open it now, because it smells like a trap. Even, if it isn't, let's first deal with what's inside the left door and not get potentially assaulted from both sides.

"Whoever is in there, can wait a little longer." - then looks pointedly at BenKii - "Don't be foolishly impatient!"

Doc0075: ** TURN 5 **

Western tunnel:
25 - BenKii - Human Warrior moves to the left door, shield raised, and opens it.
avatar
BenKii: (Umm, do we get a description of what's inside the left door? I can't do anything if I don't know what's inside.)
(Correct me if I'm wrong... but my guess is that if you want to know what is inside that left room, merely opening a door does not suffice. Maybe, I think, Doc is waiting for you to update your action to something like this >> "With shield raised and door opened, BenKii courageously sticks his neck through the door to scope out the room and see what's beyond." LOL! Just a funny feeling I have, but I could be mistaken.) ;)

In that case, it may be best for either you or Shins to inspect the room for traps. If there are any enemies inside, me and the orcs will back you up.

(I agree and I was just thinking about that. And about how much I love my neck. LOL! Do the Shins have the ability to dectect traps? My skill seems to be with deactivating traps. Same thing? If I decide to scout forward, I'm going to ask for someone's protection. Otherwise, I won't budge from where I stand. Maybe Rufus can create a shield around me? Gonna post an action in the next couple of hours. Your input is helping me think straight.)

(I thought all rogues had the ability to detect traps. You might want to PM Doc to make sure can do that. I know for a fact Shins does because he detected the acid trap, the spike trap (the one that killed Rufus) and the magic ward on the right door. He also has the ability to deactivate and reset traps.)

(Thanks! That's my impression too. All rogues/thieves can detect traps. You're absolutely right. I don't see why not.)
